Great pub. Food was good as was the beer. Our server was friendly. Alas the service was let down by a long wait for food. We were an office team out for lunch so City pubs really should turn food about quicker. After a while waiting, we had to ask after our food which did arrive shortly.
We also hired the downstairs bar for the evening and the food then was excellent too. Staff are very friendly too.
Great pub in the City for a nice lunch and selection of alcohol. Staff pleasant, food wholesome pub grub and a good atmosphere from the bar area. Well worth a visit, especially if you want a pub and not a gastro-pub/refined bar type establishment.
A comfortable pub lunch setting, mainly for people in the city (not the younger boisterous crowd) with good portion sizes for the money paid, a variety menu in touch with the local populous and excellent service.
Traditional city feeling pub with a traditional pub menu. Food generously proportioned and service attentive. Upstairs is near main bar which is very noisy and vibrant but a good vibe.
Came here for lunch and a couple of drinks. No complaints.
Great pub food and atmosphere in the city. Can't fault it.
Great pub food. Service can be a little "challenging" when it gets full
Busy lunchtime boozer in The City. Mostly always bustling at lunchtimes and post work but the dining side is a little more sedate, especially if you get a table downstairs from the main bar and noise. Food is pub grub, very well done and presented. On this occasion the service was brilliant with the waitress being up to speed on menu and draughts available. Enjoyable lunch.
Busy night but cleared table of people who had ignored reservation. Staff were great throughout. Food very solid pub grub and the beer was excellent. Very decent City pub
I would go back and we did enjoy the food. However, unfortunately on the day the pub was short staffed so service was a bit slow and a lot of the food was cold.
First time dining here rather than drinking and its a nice Pub. Service was a little sporadic in terms of being directed to reserved table and also it took a very long time to be presented with Menus. However the food once ordered came quickly and was decent pub grub. Whilst very busy, it was not the usual Pub Carnage you'd expect in a City Lunchtime establishment.
The food was very tasty and the portion size was generous. The place was very busy because is was a Friday evening. However, we were served quite quickly and the food was delivered to our table in really good time. The only downside was that it was very noisy. Lots of chat, music and there was football on the tv screens although that was muted. There were five or six fraught beers available including one of their own.
Met some ex-colleagues for drinks and a bite to eat. Varied menu options that suited all tastes and preferences, reasonable wine list, and friendly service.
Considering the relatively high score on Opentable I was expecting more, however what we found was exactly what I would have expected had it not been for the score i.e. pub food of mediocre quality and okay service to go with it. On a further downside it was expensive for what we ate and not at all worth the money. I wouldn't eat here again, although I would go for drinks here as they have a good selection.
We had a great night! Good was really good and the service was great. It was a very hot day and our table was reserved in a non-air conditioned part of the pub. This was soon rectified by our attentive waitress and we had a great catch up with friends.
Nice pub, reasonable value food and served quickly
Very busy but still got served relatively quickly
good for sport too
I booked an area for a work event - we needed a table for 10 with a view of a TV showing the rugby. We got a great, private-feeling space and the staff were extremely accommodating and helpful all evening, even though the rest of the pub was really busy. Thank you!
