Welcoming, good service, excellent food. Lovely lunch venue at reasonable prices.
Always a most enjoyable experience and probably has the best grounds in the whole of the New Forest.
An annoying woman asked for the background music to be turned off, which they did. I hadn't realised any music was play so wasn't bothered but then she had a loud video call on her phone, which was not acceptable. I feel she should have been told to go outside.
The knives didn't have serrated edges and my husband found it difficult to cut his lamb off the bone. I was ok as I had a beautiful piece of halibut.
Easy to book online. The establishment is very nice especially with the water features outside. The service was outstanding and the food superb
Sadly, although we regularly dine here, we went when the new menu had come into effect. My husband ‘s steak was good but I ordered the fish pie. It seemed someone had put a dollop of salmon, tuna and prawns to cover about half an inch of the dish and topped it up with about two inches of mashed potato. There was no discernible evidence of a nice creamy sauce with the fish. The couple sitting at the next table also had the fish pie and completely agreed with me. The service was a bit lax as the staff sat in another part of the restaurant doing some work and it was a little difficult to catch their attention. The desert arrived with mine being barely warm and my husband’s was cold.
A very attractive venue with a comfortable and pleasant ambiance, the food and service are of top quality.
I have eaten their a few times since covid started so good food great service great to would recommend it when we open up again
enjoyed the evening.good chance to dress up for a change.
Nice atmosphere, nice food , had to try to catch a member of staff to ask for condiments and drinks etc
Beautiful location, character building and gardens, great menu and service
Wonderful service and the staff are following Covid safety measures very well indeed
The food was good but not great. Unfortunately we ate later in the day on the Sunday and the beef was rather well-done and served as thick slices. Personally I prefer a thin slice, a little pink, and hot, which the meat was not!
A good selection and portion of vegetables were appreciated.
Considering the meal was essentially just a basic roast we thought it a little pricey, and asking an extra £4 for pigs in blankets (adding over 30% to the price of the pork or chicken) was outrageous!
But we would definitely return in future, although perhaps earlier in the day and to sample something else from the menu
Staff and food were very good, property is wonderful and despite the constant Rain the garden was stunning.
Well worth a visit
Fantastic food, atmosphere and service!
Delicious Sunday lunch!
Excellent surroundings and eating situation. Excellent food served courteously and efficiently. We have eaten here before and certainly will do again.
Due to strange times it was good , Food was warm not hot but tasty,
Staff were all very helpful & friendly!
Lovely Sunday roast in a beautiful location. We really enjoyed our meal and the staff were very helpful and welcoming.
Lovely restaurant, good food, excellent service. All Covid precautions taken. Will be going again.
This is a lovely setting. We were in the bar area which isn't as nice as the other rooms. The new menu has a lot of variety. The portion sizes are generous and the food was delicious.
The food here was delicious and the service was very friendly and professional. We sat in the Orangery and found it very cosy and delightful with the surroundings outside. I would highly recommend having dinner here!
Beautiful setting in the Orangey where our dog sunbathed after a wet walk . Delicious Lamb shank .
I rang the manager 31/10/20 and voiced my disappointment.
Food poor and not good value.
The ambience was really bad, also not amused being told, pick a table especially in COVID 19 climate. He did not accompany me to the table.
This meal was a special treat for my partner.
This was one of those menus where you are almost as dissapointed about the things you were unable to choose as you were delighted by the ones that you did - fair to say plenty to tempt you back.
The ambience was slightly hampered by being sat in the conservatory where a cold draught and rush of noise occurred each time a new person came in. Plus I suppose the covid arrangements took the edge of the atmosphere slightly.
Staff were all very courteous, pleasant and efficient.
This was a wonderful celebratory dinner with exceptional memorable service of ALL members of staff, with positivity and a 'can-do' attitude. The flavours of the new muscles in a coconut curry and other dishes were sophisticated and very well developed. We will be back again.
Excellent service, good tasty food and lovely venue.
Beautiful setting, fresh food, friendly service. Would highly recommend if you are not in a hurry.
Lovely atmosphere, lovely staff and good food. Will come again when next in the area
New menu is exciting, yet keeping some of our favourite dishes like the pie. Lovely setting, pleasant helpful staff and delicious piping hot food. Always a winner!
Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The food was good although service was a little slow. Staff were friendly & helpful.
This was our first visit, on recommendation, for a celebratory meal.
The food was very good, and the staff are very friendly.
Felt safe and welcome, and will definitely return.
Thank you for a memorable evening.
Not fine dining anymore which is a shame. A great restaurant still and the roast beef was melt in your mouth!
I enjoyed my visit to Gordleton Mill, The food was excellent, the ambience lovely, as were the grounds the staff were excellent,
First time at Gordleton Mill but won’t be the last. The best Sunday lunch we’ve ever had at a pub/restaurant. Staff were welcoming helpful and polite. The place itself was beautiful.
Its a shame because our overall experience of lunch at Gordleton Mill was really good, the food was delicious, the tables were nicely spaced out and the waitresses helpful and attentive but it was spoilt by the manner and tone of the hostess who greeted us at the door. I had rung to ask if we could arrive early for a drink whilst we looked at the menu and was told no problem the private dining room was being used for drinks. When we arrived I said to the hostess we are a little early as we would like a drink before lunch she was so offhand and short and said only at your table. There was no warmth or interaction with us. It just set a bad tone. The rest of the staff were fabulous and I felt for them as they had a difficult job making up for something that wasn't their fault but that we had experienced.
Great Sunday roasts, Good service, beautiful setting, probably the best pub in the area, well done!!!
I have not been to the mill for some time and thought everything was ok but it used to be special but now it seems to have lost the special bit and it was very ordinary.
The place itself was lovely and we had a table in the conservatory part overlooking the stream. So far so good. However I chose the vegetarian roast. When it came, it was a roast minus any meat substitute ie just potatoes and veg with a Yorkshire pud. I think this is quite lazy these days to expect vegetarians to just have a meal minus the meat. When I mentioned this to the waitress I just got a kind of oh. But nothing else.
Thé customer service was poor and expectations wee not set at the start on arrival and as a result caused tension when we came to ordering .
Decent food. Not bad price. Service from one young girl lovely. The other was so ridiculously OTT on the covid rules. At one point we joked about actually carrying the plates back into the kitchen as she didn't want to touch anything. Will try again though as food decent enough
Very friendly staff, food was delicious and would highly recommend.
