Green's Steakhouse - Bracknell
5 of us went to Green's for our son's 18th birthday dinner and the food was outstanding. All the steaks were really tender and cooked exactly how we asked for. The staff were very attentive and the free drink and desert for the birthday boy made the experience even better. It wasn't a cheap dinner for 5 but didn't mind paying given the quality of food.
Generous portions, extremely indulgent, prepared well. A very well run kitchen. I'd rather not hear "cotton eye joe" while eating. Apparently the playlist was one of the waitresses choices.
Waitress didn’t know the menu. Ie what are the seasonal veg. Reply. Seasonal veg! Steak came out wrong on 2 out of 3 meals. Chips cold. Second visit. First one was good. This one would stop me going again.
Brilliant tomahawk steak and great waitress!
I must firsty say I have never written a bad review but I think the Greens owner needs to step in and ensure the place doesnt fail it would be sad to see a restuarant close down in the new town center. We were very dissapointed with our meals on Sunday, we visted Greens when it first open and food was very good but Sunday was a complete dissapointment. I opted for the Sunday lunch but the vegetables were cold and the steak wasnt cooked rare as the waitress stated also the yorkshire pudding was like cardboard!! Not much to it I was still hungry afterwards. The childrens meal was okay but the mini burgers are very mini! just a mouthful each and there was only two! My husband meal was okay but nothing to rave about considering the prices.
Recently ate at the Royal Forresters and this is another level compared to Greens. We were by the door and it was very chilly but that is due to the old building. We wont be visiting again!! :(
Great good, location. Service was poor, needed to go and get waitress for extra ketchup and drinks. I feel it is over priced.
Fantastic building and decor inside. Especially the fire effect along the bar! Really lovely restaurant and I had a great steak, however as they quite rightly let the steak rest after cooking, it’s not exactly hot when served so some people might not like that. Service was a little slow - we were sat quite a while before our order was taken but maybe that was due to us being a big group as well as there being another large group there.
The decoration was beautiful. It's something new for Bracknell. The food was delicious and the service very kind and friendly. We went with out 7month old baby and we left very happy. Only the music was so load. Totally recommended for any special occasion
Great anniversary meal with a couple of free drinks and great service ,can’t wait to revisit
I was really disappointed with the service that we received on Sunday, the waitress was not to the standard that we have had previously. I had also mentioned that it was my sons birthday on my booking and this was now acknowledged, where as two weeks ago my mother in law had her birthday and the waitresses sang Happy Birthday and brought her a dessert. The food was ok, my roast dinner wasn’t very hot, but everyone else was happy. I was really disappointed.
I have been here about 5 times now and have always impressed until this recent visit.
- cocktails just looked like a mixture of drinks thrown into a tall glass with no thought to it
- we were told to have a drink at the bar until our table was ready, at no point were we told our table was ready and after a while i asked and was told 'your table has been ready for some time'
- Ribs were not that great and steak was tough and fatty
-Macaroni cheese pasta was over cooked and had more cheese than macaroni on it and was not that tasty
- The worst part of it was using the ladies at the beginning of evening - one toilet out of order, the other toilet had no seat, the third toilet barely had a seat and hardly any loo roll and not towels to dry hands on. Visited loo at end of evening no loo roll, seat hanging off only usable loo and still nothing to dry hands on.
Really disappointed as we had great experience before, it was our anniversary this time and on the booking you can select the occasion you are celebrating (which i thought was a nice touch) but nothing special was done for us... so am wondering why have that drop down on the booking form?
Really sad to see it has gone downhill, even the staff attire was scruffy. We were going to take our American friends there when they visit but i'm not sure i will now.
Very good service. Staff are all helpful and friendly.
Last meal before my Son heads off to the Navy.
Ran out of Tonic Water at 7:30. No Rib Eye on the bone or T-Bones on the bone.
No hand towels in the ladies or gents toilets do with no hand dryers, we had to wash and then go into a cubicle to find toilet paper.
My wife had a feather blade cut of steak and it was inedible due to it being so gristly.
Waitress was great. Better wine list required.
We arrived and ordered and bottle of wine and after that we were told they didn’t have any bbq sauce left so they couldn’t do any meals with bbq sauce so we weren’t able to have the rib starter so we decided to just go for two lots of garlic bread to be told they didn’t have that either so we ended up just going for the steak and asked for chunky chips but they didn’t have any of those either. The steaks were suppose to be medium rare but were more rare but luckily weren’t too bad. We then went to order a pudding and before saying we could have a pudding the waitress checked her watch and we felt like we had to rush our pudding and finish our wine as everyone just kept staring at us. This was suppose to be a special meal out and it was awful. They didn’t have half of the stuff on the menu which is quite limit anyway and didn’t tell us until after we had ordered drinks and had we have known we would have gone somewhere else. It is safe to say we won’t be going there again especially as the bill came to over £100 and was not very good at all!! Not a happy customer!!
Inside is very nice, wasnt keen on the draught lager and there is only one choice. We had various meat dishes between the 6 of us but they all seem to come smothered in Barbecue sauce.
It may well say that on the menu but not sure.
Probably be better if it was served seperately so you could leave it if you wished.
Also everything comes with fries, even the salmon so again not sure about that.
Overall though nothing major to not like.
The staff are really friendly, toilets are clean so all in all pretty good.
So near yet so far. Unfortunately another review for Greens of what might have been. We had a table for 4 on Saturday so a busy time. We waited for a while for the waitress to take our order which was written down on a paper pad. 30 mins later nothing had arrived so we gave it a gentle chase and then our mains turned up, yes before we had had our starters. The waitress didn't seem overly concerned but obvs we sent them away which was a bit of a shame as one of the steaks was a special order ribeye. Looking around it was clear that our table wasn't the only one with issues. We then got told a somewhat bizarre story concerning why things were going so wrong which involved a homeless man stealing one of their iPads which had crashed the online ordering system, a tale so weird it had to be true. To be fair to Greens what food we got was good although £36 for fillet which arrives with a few fries and sprig of tomatoes and a garlic clove is a bit steep. We have been to Greens before for both lunches and evening meals and each time our overall view is that the food is good but the service just let's it down with either serving staff who seem either forgetful disinterested or both, in fact our waitress had her coat on and left before we had been served our coffee. The redeeming feature on the night was the manager who cancelled the bill which would have been well over £200 so a very generous gesture and we will go back again but just hope they can get the service right, hopefully 5th time lucky.
not bad. Service not really good enough for a place of this quality and cost. Otherwise perfectly pleasant
food was excellent, and was cooked perfectly. the service was good.
Loved the fire effect table, really set the mood along with the industrial atmosphere. Food had to be sent back after asking for well done and receiving pink meats but other than that it was okay. We ordered the Sunday roast and waited over an hour which was a bit long to be waiting. Food was quite tasty though!
"Medium rare" steak that was on the blue side of rare, tough, and more gristle than steak. "Roasted garlic" that was mostly raw.
The chicken fillet burger was a bit pink too, (and very bland).
Also, extremely expensive for what is sub-par pub food.
Certainly the worst meal I've had in a few years.
The service was incredible, the staff were extremely friendly and super helpful. We wasn't sure if we was going to like a certain wine and they allowed us to taste a very small amount just so we didn't waste any money and the chef let us taste a sauce that goes with the steak because we never had it before and wanted to know if we'll like it.
The food was absolutely delicious and came out very quickly. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing however, the chips portion wasn't as big as I expected but they had a lovely texture and taste. Due to the small side portion it gave us room for pudding which was a bonus.
The cost fit us perfectly especially for a special occasion. Would highly recommend coming here just for a meal or special occasion.
Good staff, sometimes forgetful but overall experience was good.
Food not great again and the service was awful ! Took ages to even get a drink , was terrible
The steaks were incredibly well cooked and both the sweet potato fries and french fries were among the best that I have tasted. - service was polite, efficient and very friendly. Highly recommended
Overall a great experience the steaks are delicious aswell as the sides highly recommended
Lovely evening for my Mother in Law’a birthday and the staff brought out a dessert and sang Happy Birthday (I didn’t ask!) Fabulous service and great steak as always
Jess our waitress was very polite and informative ( Excellent Sevice) Steaks cooked to requirements. One criticism we found it a little overpriced.
We had a very frosty welcome. The waitress didn’t want to be there.Food was disappointing.Macaroni cheese was pasta shells with cheese on top.We didn’t stay for dessert and won’t be going back.
We felt very disappointed with our experience. We were there celebrating our anniversary. We had to wait ages for our drinks and when we got our food our steak was very bloody (when we asked for medium) fatty and extremely salty. Chips were also salty and didn’t look cooked enough. I left half of my steak and my chips. It was extremely noisy and the people next to us were very clearly drug intoxicated. The fire alarm went off through our meals but was not told to vacate the building and we had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke half way through our meal. We had to be somewhere else so felt we couldn’t send our food back otherwise we would be late. Overall a poor experience and won’t be returning.
Poor food, tasteless and bad cuts of meat. Overpriced for what it was. Service was adequate but not very responsive when we said food was poor. There are better options.
Really lovely meal, lovely staff and excellent evening.
Our 5 year Anniversary,fantastic food,service was fantastic,will definitely be going back👍👍
How can a steak house run out of mushrooms and onion rings?????
Not only that, then serve you with cold tomatoes and garlic only then to be stared down by the chef!!!!!
Then change then wine to a differ variety when you order - same again please????
This is the second disaster meal at Greens and we won’t be going again. Such a shame, could be the go to place in Bracknell.
We have been meaning to go to Greens for a long time and finally got round to it on Saturday. Not disappointed - service was fantastic, food was brilliant (a little pricey but worth it) - my steak was cooked to perfection and my partners ribs were delicious. Saying that I ordered a rib eye and got a sirloin but didn’t complain because it was so good 🤷🏼♂️ Only downside was a very loud table that was dining at the same time - waitress tried her hardest to quieten them down, although when the food arrived for them didn’t hear a peep 😂
Overall great and recommended, we’ll be back 👍🏻👍🏻
We went there, our first visit!!! We were the 3rd couple in the far room,12 other couples arrived and nearly all got there food b4 us,not the best experience,
Starters were cold, sent chicken wings back & they reheated them then gave them back to us! The sirloin on the roast dinner was nice but the Yorkshire’s were shop bought & frozen ( nothing like the picture on their website), roast potatoes were awful & it was lukewarm at best.
Couldn't fault it. Food was spot on, drinks and service excellent.
Whilst the service was good the food was very average, portions were small and for the price expected more, there were 8 of us, including 3 kids, we had 2 alcoholic drinks between us and it was £35 a head.
Menu choice for special dietary requirements poor. Starter not cooked, neither was replacement starter. Main course of T-bone steak was tough and had no flavour. Sorbet dessert was too tart. Not much variety of non-alcoholic drinks although waitress made a nice elderflower spritz as an alternative. Vastly over-priced and 20% service charge outrageous. Will not return or recommend
Some of the worst service I have ever experienced. Food was very average, music was far too loud for a mid afternoon crowd - and by crowd I mean there were 3 tables of customers. Although at least the staff were enjoying the music while chatting to friends who had dropped in and were sitting at the bar giggling and looking at photos or social media on their phones. It was not busy at all which leaves no excuse for the terrible service. Floor staff need to be retrained in basic service skills..... and manners.
And the waitress then had the nerve to ask me to leave a gratuity. Just an awful experience.
