We offer Pre Theatre and fixed feast menus for small and large groups. Our private dining rooms are available for hire through the week.
We take reservations for lunch and dinner online, for parties up to 5.
A section of our restaurant is kept back for walk ins.
For walk ins we operate on a “first come first serve” system, and once the restaurant is full, we operate a waiting list. Just pop by, leave us your details and we’ll text you when your table is ready.
In order to be fair, please note we only seat complete parties.

The lamp chops are possibly the best I've ever had
Great flavors. Reasonably priced given it’s location (I was expecting it to be more expensive). Lamb chops and charred chicken dishes are very good. There’s also something special about the egg curry’s thick gravy. Enjoyed the delicious butter chicken style gravy provided as a side. A memorable lunch in the heart of London.
Great food great service. Tables were too close for a business meeting setting.
Very good food, a little pricey but not too bad though for London. I will defo come back to try other dishes!
The food served at Gunpowder was nothing short of amazing.
If you want to splurge on a great meal, I highly recommend going for their set menu.
Only downside is that their tables for 2 are quite small.
Great place. We were a little late for our table but they were great. It got pretty busy and it created a nice buzz. Starters were decent sized and could be a main. Then a decent array of mains but not a book. Wine selection was good could add more rose I guess. All in all lovely food we were a foursome and had a great time.
Delicious take on refined Indian food. Would highly recommend.
Food is very tasty. Loved the pokhra fries to start. The one let down was the waiter seemed to be rushing us to order and rushing us to finish & was quite pushy. Would like to go again but without a time limit.
Absolutely outstanding food.
The menu is quite limited but they do it very well. We tried lots of the dishes and they were all good. The aloo, the beef rib and the lamb were particularly amazing.
The only problem is that the drinks are hideously over priced. Stupidly expensive and so that ruined it a bit.
Third time here and the food was excellent as always. Everyone in our party really enjoyed the food. The Beef Rib was a real hit and so was the whole Chicken. The house beers were great and so were the cocktails or so I was told. Even the chai got a thumbs up.
Food was very good apart from the prawns which were very small. Our main issue was the amount of flies that were gathered on the wall next to our table.
Food was nice but we received all 8 dishes within 10 minutes of ordering them so our table was completely filled with dishes that we felt pressured to hurry through and this somewhat reduced our enjoyment of the experience. Would've rather they took more time and let us finish 2-3 dishes at a time before bringing more.
Went with two other friends for their brunch/lunch menu. We loved the fact that the normal menu was also served alongside the brunch menu. We absolutely loved their savoury items like the venison doughnut, the egg curry masala, the duck leg and the chilli cheese sandwich (SO GOOD), but were very let down by the cardamom pancakes! The pancakes tasted overwhelmingly of baking powder so much so it felt like we were eating some sort of soap. Eaten together with the creme fraiche, syrup and banana though it was alright but we were quite surprised that given the quality of the rest of their food, that something as simple as pancakes were the biggest letdown.
Nonetheless, still an enjoyable experience. Loved the ambience and service in here! Shame about the pancakes
Always amazing, I love this place. Outstanding food.
The food was very good but would have appreciated the rice and the yogurt at the beginning of the meal so we could have this with the various dishes.
I was really excited about going to Gunpowder but it really flattered to deceive. Firstly, the plates were very small (tapas style) but at the same time very costly (we spent 46 including service charge) on only 3 dishes, which compared to similar places like Dishoom / Hoppers etc appears to be out of sync. Out of the 3 dishes, the whole beef rib in Kerala pepper sauce served with pickled madras onions was very nice and would highly recommend. The gunpowder aloo chaat was okay but nothing special. As for the grilled tiger prawns w/ green peppercorn, kumquat & summer tomatoes, this was shocking and was only eaten because it cost so much (£18)! Overall, I was not impressed with the quality of food and would not recommend.
Great option if you like to try Indian food in a different format. It's a bit like Indian tapas with amazing flavors and delicious dishes. Only negative thing about our visit was the noise in the restaurant. It was almost impossible to speak to each other, you almost had to shout.
Brilliant food - loved it! Could offer more variety in main course! Desserts not so great (have tried them before and hence did not order this time!)
Food was great. Especially the savoury doughnut. Good value too. Highly recommend.
Amazing experience bursting with flavor, so many incredible food sensations. I can't wait to come back again.
Another evening of sumptuous food at Gunpowder. Took friends who had never been before and they were wowed by almost every course, particularly the lamb chops. Service, as ever, friendly and efficient.
Really tasty innovative Indian food served quickly in a buzzy atmosphere. Tables could be a bit bigger as the plates do pile up but would definitely go again.
Only worked out afterwards that not all dishes had been served as part of the pre-theatre menu, having asked during the meal if there was more to come. A shame as the food was excellent
The food was delicious but because the service was very slow we didn’t get the dessert we had paid for even though we’d allowed 1 1/4hrs pre-theatre. So overall it was not great value for money for us.
It is a truly amazing experience. The proposal rests in traditional Indian dishes with an autor twist. You can’t miss the venison doughnut, the oysters, the young chicken and the old munk bread pudding.
Food was very tasty, the staff helpful and the couple on the next table fun - so we couldn't ask for more!
Food is wonderful but love them to add an option on the menu for ordering some broad
The Shoreditch venue was too busy so we went to the Tower Bridge one. It is much larger and fancier. The food overall was very good but it is more all starters rather than integrated main courses. Being expected to eat off small plates would be OK except the beef rib is big and messy. Nothing on the menu that really ties in with eating with rice as a base. Prices reflect the area!
Good food that's the restaurant's problem to solve, not ours. However, that aside, we would return.
Busy with very good service and interesting food in small plates...table could have been a bit bigger to cope.
Such a lovely place fro date night (even after 30 years of marriage). Food was really tasty and the staff were very attentive. Loved singing along to the old skool music. Was so impressed, I bought the cookbook with the recipes fro everything we had eaten. Will definitely come again
It was a rum themed night for us at the table with gunpowderr regiment a rum and masala coke concoction
And rumpudding a sublime breadpudding soaked in rum also we stuffed our faces with Kashmiri lamb which is apparently the owners MIL's recipe and was devine. We also had artichokes okra fries and duck leg
Each bite was an explosion of flavour! Staff were polite and cordial and the location is amazing too
Fantastic food, just comes up a bit quick. Need to manage that next time.
Really starters (kale salad / fries / venison doughnut..) but the grilled king prawn were burnt and overcooked. The service was really good at first but not great by the end.
Amazing meal. Bit pricey but memorable.
Awesome food, great experience, would highly recommend to anyone
Lovely evening out with great food and quick service. We’d go back.
Super helfpul and friendly staff. One of the diners was vegan and they recommended some excellent dishes. Not the normal Indian food you have at most restaurants - absolutely delicious and would highly recommend to anyone. Perfect location to go to The Bridge theatre afterwards!
