Gyu-Kaku - Cambridge, MA
Traditionally called Yakiniku, this Japanese barbecue spot is known for their delicious, fresh (never frozen), high-quality meats!
Enjoy an ice cold beer as you grill your own meat. Happy Hours offer the best deals on food and drinks, so be sure to wind down and get the night started right with us.
Great food and so much fun. Staff was very friendly and always checked in on us :)
Great time, good food and fun.
We allied and told the receptionist that is was our daughters birthday but there was no notice of that during our visit
Very popular place. Good choice, if table-cooking is what you're looking for.
It pains me to write a bad review since Gyu-Kaku is one of my favorites restaurants. However, it was my girlfriend’s birthday and we got sprayed with scorching hot grease. We thought they were giving us 50% off our total bill but gave only 15%, which felt like they were trivializing what happened.
Always a good meal and great time here!!!
Good food and excellent service! Always a good time at Gyu-Kaku!!
I went here for a double-date and it was so much fun! It’s a great atmosphere for that kind of event.
I wasn’t a huge fan of the seating but the food and company made up for it!
Another awesome meal!
The meat is smelly. After that meal, my stomach suffered and I had some rashes in my arms.
Everything about the experience was incredible. Plates and plates and plates of meet plus other great stuff. Japanese beer was great too!
Selected one of the all-you-can-eat meals that had a great selection of meats.
Very bad service. No water being refilled throughout the whole meal.
Servers are rude while trying to help reignite the faulty stove. Though the food is acceptable
I hope not getting not-fully-defrosted meat the next time
Always great here! Favorite place
Service was a bit slower than usual, however they did allow us to stay past the 90 minutes.
We were a group of 9 people and our food came out of the kitchen in a total random order.
Some people were have the cook your own meat and there rice showed up at the very end of dinner.
Four people were done eating before the last three people recieved their meals.
Amazing service, server Alejandro recommended a lot of options which ended in an amazing dining experience
This is a great little spot! I must've walked by it a thousand times without really noticing it, but I'm so glad I finally found it on the app!
It was impossible to find a waitress or waiter whenever we needed one. Our grill kept turning off and our waiter and waitresses did nothing about it until we insisted that we be moved to a different table (in a completely empty restaurant). They were rude to us and unhelpful with questions about the menu.
The service was a bit slow. It looks us a very long time ~15 - 20 mins to be seated as no hostess was at the front desk. The foods come out a bit slow as well and they even forgot 2 of the main dishes which we had to ask for the menu in comparison to what we been served and had to asked them to check if we got all our food. If we have not done that we probably didn't even get those foods on our table and thought we have been ripped off since what we got was a lot less than we usually get with two sets of 4 people set. Other than that everything was o.k. just seems very disorganized at this branch.
We always come to this location because the staff is always so friendly. The dishes are well marinated and they come out fairly quickly. If you don’t mind the parking costs then I prefer Cambridge location from other ones.
The Greatest restaurant in Boston so far.
Especially young students should go and get satisfied with all you can eat for only 35box!
1 host and 1 server running to serve food all restaurant. Need management to take care and put more server.
It’s horrible, one server for half of the restaurant, at the start we waited 1 hour and a half before the order( we reserved spot and wasn’t late). No one took away the empty dishes(for all visible tables), the water and coke weren’t refilled, the gyu sushi is not served for 2 hours until I remind the server. The edamame wasn’t served at all. Meat quality not as high as South Bay one. It’s horrible, as usual actually. We were hoping that it’s been improving, but it’s not. Would not visit again
We were a party of 4, dining on a Tuesday evening. We had been to Gyu-Kaku in Boston many times, but only a couple times to the Harvard Square location. The upstairs location is a little lacking in ventilation, especially when everyone is cooking, but the seating is comfortable and seems to accommodate both small and large groups well. Even with a reservation, it takes a rather long time to get seated, and the hostess we encountered this time was especially disorganized and busy with other things.
We ordered the All-You-Can-Eat. The quality of the food is good, but the waitstaff are incredibly slow! I strongly recommend placing a large first order, because there's no guarantee you'll get all the items from your subsequent orders. Also, this is definitely not the place to eat if you do not want to be rushed. We were repeatedly rushed to give up our table, even when we were paying or wanted to finish our ice cream. I am a big fan of the Gyu-Kaku chain, but especially at their price point, this kind of service is terribly sub-par.
So slow and we almost wait an hour for our dishes！
Great service and great food
Best japanese bbq in town.
Although we had a reservation and the restaurant had a lot free tables, they put pressure on us to leave before 6 (we sat at 5)!
Horrible waited 40 mins with reservations, service is bad too
Amazing flavors, grill at your own table, super fun group dining experience.
The food is great and waitresses are nice, but the Service is very slow. We took about 2 hours to finish our lunch.
Christian had no idea what he was doing. 3 menus is deceptive and waste of time. Need one menu , that is all. No hostess at desk, were there for ten minutes before she showed up.
Price if beer is crazy! $24.00 for pitcher of Kirin?
We didnt get 50% of our ordered. We had to ask the waiter 4x for our food. And still didnt get the rest of our food. It was a really bad experience for us.
Birthday Dinner for my daughter. We all loved it!
Had reservation at 8:30 and got directed to the table around 9:00. Food is pretty good and the price is understandable considering location and etc. Would recommend if you are craving for some yakiniku. Doesn’t mean it is 100% authentic though.
Love it! But I booked 9:30 but we have to wait 30mins more somehow, and started eat around 10:10. They need to figure out these problems, because not only us but other booked groups were also waiting extra 20-30min. But women at reception were working really hard, and foods were amazing! Worth to wait, but recommend to go not crowded time!
