Gyu-Kaku - White Plains, NY
Traditionally called Yakiniku, this Japanese barbecue spot is known for their delicious, fresh (never frozen), high-quality meats!
Enjoy an ice cold beer as you grill your own meat. Happy Hours offer the best deals on food and drinks, so be sure to wind down and get the night started right with us.
Took my best friend for her birthday dinner and the experience was phenomenal. We ordered the meat lovers order for 2, the garlic noodles, and dumplings. It was all amazing! I recommend the Coco-Mo and the Geisha, delicious. Shout out to Nick for being a great server.
We made a reservation online , and we got there atleast 35 minutes early . We were taking almost right away I thought that was pretty neat ! This is my second time at this place and I find it to be really really good !! The food is amazing I love how we are able to cook our own food ! The food it self is well seasoned and very tasteful ! Can’t wait to come back !!
Great service, thank you!!
The staff was nice and courteous. We did the all you can eat which has a time limit but we weren’t rushed! Food was amazing like always!
A manger needs to see this
I was there this weekend, the Services was great HOWEVER when I ordered toro meet “extra “ took 20 minutes and the meet was not on my table I calle the waiters and went to the kitchen and my tiro meet was not serve “I know “ it’s not the waitress fault But why 20 minutes and not even ready nor on my table
Good taste and reasonable price
Very good time . Larry the waiter was very good . Funny ! They did bill me for a chicken like appetizer dosh . We ate it and they billed me for it . I thought it came with the BBQ package . The other waiter just put it in front of us . I know I didn’t order it because i didn’t even know it was a chicken appetizer because I didn’t order appetizers. Thanks though . Good place
Awesome food. So full!
Great service as always!!
Good time with great food and a nice place to spend a terrific time with family or friends
Food and the prices for the lunch specials were quite good. This is a hibachi restaurant where you cook the food at your table - a special experience for a reasonably-priced luncheon outing. On the other hand, service was very, very poor. The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived (a little before noon, half an hour after they opened), but it took 20+ minutes for food to reach our table. I can understand turning an expensive multi-course hibachi dinner into an all-evening event, but this was lunch. Dishes were put down in front of the wrong persons. There were 3 of us, but no service person noticed we were missing a place setting. Our waiter talked fast and couldn't articulate. We would huddle after he left to figure out what he said. Too bad, all of these issue are highly correctible.
I always love to have dinner or lunch in GyuKaku whiteplains! I would highly reccomend you to eat Japanese BBQ in Gyu-Kaku WhitePlains
Our server was very nice, Great attitude and that’s always a plus. Food was great price not bad at all.
The waiter, Doug, was extremely rude, slow and didn’t know his facts. He tried to charge the children in the group that were under the age limit and prevent us from ordering on the menu (not realizing that the limited items were 1 per person, not 1 for the entire group). Not only did he take forever to take our orders, but he then kicked us out due to the time limit. Since he was so slow, we didn’t get to order as much for the all you can eat buffet. When I was surprised that he was kicking us out due to time constraints, he said “are you seriously still hungry?”. It’s an all you can eat buffet, I didn’t realize a side of judgement came with the food. Would never go there with him as a waiter.
I’ve noticed that portions are getting much smaller. The two of us ordered cocktails for happy hour. The glasses are constantly changing for happy hour. The peach Cosmo will come out a proper glass one day and the next day it’s in a weird champagne flutes that’s tiny. On the menu they show some drinks in pint glasses, yet during happy hour, you will not get the pint glass. You will get a stem glass. As soon as happy hour ends, and you order another drink, it comes out in a pint glass, the same exact thing! As far as food goes, the portions are extremely small. We ordered three hanger steak orders, a shrimp with mushrooms, the boneless ribs, spicy pork, spinach, and calamari. The meat portions are extremely small, and we were actually still hungry when we left. The cuts of meat shrivel down to nothing. They need to leave oil on the table, because during the cooking process, the meat sticks to the Grate. You have to wait for the waitress to come over and re-oil the grate. By then, the meat is stuck and the pieces are falling off. The slices are so thin, it’s hard to salvage.
After ordering eight dishes, three steaks, one rib, one spicy pork, one shrimp with mushrooms, calamari, and spinach, our hunger should’ve been satisfied. But it wasn’t! Portions are just too small.
Food ok at best
I have visited Gyu in many different city’s. It’s always a great vibe. The happy hour bar choices are awesome and top shelf. This is one of my favorite restaurants.
The experience is great. My date and I had a great time. Only thing I would say is I wish the rice portion was more. Other than that I would go back.
great place with terrific food. Excellent for families
This type of restaurant may not be for everyone but everyone should definetly experience it. Food was great. It had good seasoning and easy to cook.
It was my first time here and everything was delicious!! Our sever was very nice and great!
Amazing food I would recommend this to anyone food was so good service was some of the best I’ve had in awhile. I for sure will be coming back!
Awesome meal as always, very well seasoned meat, great ambiance, and will absolutely come back in a couple of weeks! Absolutely delicious!
This was the first time at Gyu-Kaku and I have to say it was delicious. The air conditioning didn’t work the night we went and our grill kept on going out, but that aside we enjoyed ourselves.
It was a first for the family and I was glad that everyone enjoyed a different way of dining. The food was great and service was on point for my family’s first visit.
Alone, this Gyu-kaku is very good. Our server was great, nice and helpful. But compared to the midtown location? It's second best. The servers there are more attentive and they change the grill and oil it constantly. Here it wasn't changed once. All in all still great food and service. Don't let those minor details deter you from going.
Great dining and great service. They were nice enough to let us in with a late reservation right before closing time. I will be back, earlier or course.
One of my favorites!
The service was very slow and confused. We kept having to ask our waiter where some of our ordered meats were. Just seemed completely unorganized.
I have had a much better experience in their Manhattan store.
I reserved a table for 4 and we were seated 25mins past our reserved schedule. I am not sure if gyu kaku or open table was amiss regarding this matter.
The actual dinner was very good, which made up for the 30 minute wait with having a reservation
I come here once in a while every month or so and I absolutely love the food, atmosphere and I always have a good time. This time I took my father for his birthday and he loved the food.
Food was great but we waited 20 minutes before someone even came to our table, when the server did arrive he told us to wait again (another 10 minutes). Food came out too slow Miso soup was cold and our server spoke so fast we couldnt hear what meats we were being served. Another couple (who werent African american like us) came in got water, got serviced, helped and recieved food all within minutes. Please tell me why my boyfriend and I were treated differently? There was a server named Doug who purposefully passed our table several times knowing we had empty plates and refused to even ask if we needed anything, he wasnt our personal server but if i rememeber correctly Gyu servers move empty plates from any table even if its not assigned. We had practically chased every server down because we needed refills and a new grill at one point. I thought Gyu-Kaku was a safe space where everyone can eat. If it wasnt for the newly promoted Justin who helped us in the last 30 mins I would have asked for a manager but Justin kept us calm. This was my 4th time at this Gyu and I will not be returning. Your staff has a serious issue with serving and treating people of color like any other patrons. Please give Justin the respect he deserves. He was a great server at the end of the night and I am glad he was promoted. Maybe some of the atmosphere will change. My experience was horrible and I will be writing a letter to management.
Excuse any grammatical errors made in this post.
I made a reservation and they called me to let me know the table was ready. When we got there they had given away the table to someone else with the same name. By the time we got seated we didn’t have enough time to fulfill what we had paid for. The highest all you can eat option. In addition they were out of the filet which they didn’t tell us until half our food was out. That was one of the reasons that we wanted that option. The waitress seemed bothered that we were there and didn’t cook the skirt steak until it was almost time to close. As we were eating dessert which they didn’t even ask if we wanted. We had to ask them for it. They had shut the grill off. In addition- when I left someone called me to let me know my card was declined. I said it wasn’t I paid the bill and signed the receipt. She had asked me if I was the person that she gave the spicy sauce to go and it was not me. She probably mixed me up with the other person they gave my reservation to. I would say very poor customer service and won’t be coming back.
Fun for family and friends to get together and enjoy a great evening, a great place for Japanese bbq with all you can eat, will definitely go back again for special occasion!
Our food was great. Our waiter was horrible. We literally had to get up and get our own napkins and forks after asking him 3 times for it. We had to go around looking for him to get his attention
When we first walked in we went to the restroom since our table wasn’t ready. They had this disgusting curtain that separated the restroom from bathroom, walkway and kitchen that was right across from restroom. The restroom was so dirty and had an odor. There was no hot running water which was concerning. The place just felt dirty. I don’t no why we didn’t leave. I guess we wanted to give it a chance. They food was ok. Our server was great. I wouldn’t go back or recommend anyone though.
Early Fathers Day/piano recital celebration
