Haig's Bar and Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Our table was at the back of the restaurant. The music was a little too loud to enable us to have a normal conversation later on during our meal. It progressively got louder. After dinner we moved nearer to the front of the restaurant to finish off. Apart from that food service etc was very good. Worth a visit. Would like to see a bit more variety on the mains menu
Good value breakfast and nice coffee in nice surroundings although for breakfast time the sound of the radio could have been toned down a little bit given there was no-one sitting in the bar area. A minor criticism on the otherwise very good food is the trend for serving breakfast rolls as brioche buns. These might work for chunky burgers but for a breakfast roll I think most folk would expect a Scottish morning roll. Brioche is too sweet and tends to disintegrate easily which doesn't work with fried eggs or sausages. Apart from that everything was very nice.
Tasty food & good sized portions. Well looked after by lovely staff. We chose the pate, followed by fish & chips & a very nice chicken & haggis dish. The wines are reasonably priced, always a bonus. My only gripe is the extremely bright lighting. Far too bright for comfort, would love to see them softened a little.
We booked in for a dinner booking but when calling to book the table there was no answer to any of the 6 calls that were made on Saturday evening.
When we arrived we were seated but we had to ask for the menues 10 min after we were seated.
My other guests had the pie and fish and chips . I had the pulled pork burger that was bland and had no seasoning at all.
The restaurant was not at all busy and if it takes 3 waiting staff 10 min to clear and reset tables not sure what it would be like if it was packed and very busy
