Lovely setting and food just slightly spoiled by a few wasps and flies buzzing around the restaurant (not sure if anything could be done about this)
A really lovely venue for a special occasion. Started with drinks on the terrace overlooking the water, followed by a superb lunch. A very relaxed atmosphere but in beautiful surroundings. Service was attentive & welcoming. My 2-course lunch was just the right amount for a lighter-eater (garden salad followed by salmon) & my partner went for 3 courses, again superbly presented and deliciously flavoured. Couldn't fault it and would definitely recommend.
Extraordinarily charming with delightful staff.
Sommelier is excellent and very considered.
A very special place to be
This was a meal for 2 to celebrate a birthday and the ambience was really good. We were not hurried but service was attentive and being able to select from the menu and have drinks on the terrace beforehand, overlooking the gardens and Rutland Water added to the pleasant atmosphere.
The nicest restaurant there is. Wonderful, complex, beautifully presented food. Impeccable wine from superb list. Excellent service. What more can you ask.
Our first visit. The food is incredible and the service second to none. The views and gardens are breathtaking .We will definitely be coming again we are hooked.
A glorious, sunny day with views from the pre- and post-lunch terrace down across Rutland water. We felt valued by the staff and much enjoyed the food available under the Lunch for Less menu. The only drawback was the lack of air-conditioning inside: it was 30C and we had to ask for a menu to fan ourselves with. We'll go again.
A great place to have lunch for a special occasion. Excellent service with lots of attention to detail and small touches that make you feel special. A beautiful and peaceful setting. Food was fantastic. Expensive by worth it
Amazing food & incredible views! Staff were incredibly attentive & very polite.
Fabulous lunch, fresh light seasonal food, great flavours, excellent wine list and service.
A lovely treat, the warm weather meant we could also linger on the terrace before and after lunch enjoying delicious pre lunch canapés and post lunch sweet treats, as well as the beautiful view of Rutland Water.
Venue can’t be faulted, the dining room, the terrace, even the toilets all 1st class. Food was very good, but expected a little more from a Michelin starred restaurant. It was clear service was aimed at the very highest level, however 1 or 2 waiters/ waitresses came across as a little inexperienced. Overall I would recommend to all for all occasions.
Usual high standards. Relaxed excellence, delicious food.
Incredible service and excellent food. Would highly recommend. One of my favourite places to visit!!
We all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The staff were very accommodating waiting for us to change after our walk before we could order. The lunch was excellent, beautifully prepared and presented. The atmosphere was relaxed but with attentive staff. A very enjoyable experience. Thank you. Barry Francis
A visit to Hambleton Hall is always a special occasion because the setting and the staff create a comfortable ambience for all circumstances. We enjoyed a relaxed Sunday lunch; the fine weather permitting full appreciation of the lovely views from the terrace over the pristine gardens and across Rutland Water. The 3-course menu was short and clear, but the quality of ingredients, preparation, presentation and service transformed the starter, Sunday roast and dessert into memorable taste experiences. The suggested wine pairings complemented the food ideally. We look forward as much to our next meal there as we have to those enjoyed over the past 30 years.
Outstanding as usual.
I would always recommend going with the Somelier's wine choice !
Great experience, felt like we was the only ones there. Smooth operation, out of this world food and dancing taste buds.
A really delicious lunch in a fantastic setting. The lemon soufflé with sorrel sorbet was particularly wonderful.
Absolutely amazing food, finished a good weekend away with friends and made it perfect
It was our 40th wedding anniversary and having visited many restaurants to celebrate other important occasions, this without doubt surpassed them all. It started with a small, but nonetheless important comment included in our menus, congratulating us on our anniversary.
The service was exemplary and attentive, but not overly so. They were not only very knowledgeable about their food and wines, as you might expect, but also about the history of building and surrounding area. The ambience was warm and welcoming and we enjoyed the stunning location overlooking Rutland Water.
Finally the food; not quite sure how I can best describe what was a fantastic meal, for quality, taste and service. We didn't have to ask for our wine to be served when it was needed as it was kept away cooling from the table. We were not rushed nor having to wait between courses. I simply cannot fault anything. Regarding the price, we believe it to be more than fair, it is what one would expect for such fine food, ambience and service and if you are looking for a venue that delivers on all these then Hambleton Hall is well worth a visit, without, that is, getting too stressed and fixated about the bill!
What a fabulous lunch. Highlights were the Rhubarb soufflé with rhubarb sorbet; impeccable service and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely return and stay over next time!
My 70th Birthday lunch for the family. Excellent all round every time we have visited. Every one left happy.
Everything was absolutely Faultless ! And I highly recommend Hambleton Hall
The drive to dine at Hambleton Hall was well worth it and the food more than exceeded our expectations. It is easy to see why it has held its Michelin star for so long.
I went for our 10yr wedding anniversary. From the start to finish it was absolutely excellent. I can't stress enough how the staff go the extra mile to look after us.
Very tasty and beautifully presented food. Perfect ambience in the dining room and on the sun terrace for coffee and treats. We have dined here previously and will do again.
Our lunch was for the school reunion of friends who hadn't met for some time. One guest was late in arriving and so the Luncheon was delayed by 40 minutes. However, the staff were very patient with the party's delay in starting the lunch which did not fail to disappoint. The food, surroundings and ambiance of Hambleton Hall is exquisite. Thank you.
We chose Hambleton Hall to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary as a couple. All the staff were super attentive and helpful - they gave us a really warm and individual welcome. The food was excellent, as expected. The Hall and the surroundings added to the wonderful ambience.
It was a perfect way to celebrate a freind’s birthday. We sipped cocktails on the terrace of the most beautiful house while we deliberated- what to chose from the most interesting selection of dishes on the menu. The waiter was happy to custom make a non alcoholic drink for my friend , it was beautifully presented and delicious. The waiters and waitresses were friendly but professional, service was unobtrusive and smooth. We had a three course lunch with extra little tastes along the way. Highlights for me were trying smoked eel , an Iberico pork main course and a very impressive choice of desserts but we all thought the Hambleton Orange was amazing. We had our coffee and delicious petit fours back out on the terrace and gazed out across the gardens to most incredible views of Rutland Water. The whole experience surpassed our expectations .
We had the Lunch menu for less, delicious food but sadly we had the same choice of 2 main courses that we had had on our previous visit back in March-
For a special occasion especially when the weather is good this is a superb place to be and eat. Sitting out on the terrace for pre eat drinks sets the tone for a great experience.
The prices preclude this from being anything other than a special occasion to look forward to.
Excellent throughout. Service at a level rarely experienced today. Will certainly go again
This is a regular visit at least once or twice a year on birthdays ands it’s always wonderful! We love the peaceful lounge and glorious garden and the service is superb. We had the special lunch menu which is excellent value and exceedingly well cooked. Canapés first, a light feta salad, the beautiful rich belly pork, a super light raspberry soufflé and decadent sweets with the coffee. Absolutely recommend for a top quality, relaxing lunch out!
We went for lunch at Hambleton Hall for my sister’s 60th birthday. She was made to feel
very special from the moment we arrived. She was given a personalised menu to keep and a birthday cake with our coffee. We all chose from the “Lunch for Less “ menu ( the name doesn’t give the food justice) as all the courses were superb and cooked to perfection.
The raspberry soufflé in particular was absolutely gorgeous and worked well with raspberry sorbet.
We could not fault the staff and were very attentive ....they certainly made my sister’s day.
We visit 2 or 3 times a year and it's always worth the hour's drive.
Food is always excellent, as is the service.
When the weather is good the verandah provides a beautiful view over the reservoir.
Hambleton hall was the perfect venue for a special birthday celebration. The food was flawlessly presented and flavours exquisitely combined for a memorable culinary experience. The service was impeccable and the venue breathtakingly scenic. It will break the bank, but I cannot fault the special experience gifted by such artfully prepared food, enjoyed in such beautiful surrounds. We will be back, as soon as we've saved up!
We got married hear in 2007 and rated Hambleton Hall very highly then. It has not changed at all the service, just excellent, and the food was superb.
We will recommend Hambleton Hall to all our friends.
They provide an excellent service for birthdays and anniversaries.
From the moment of arrival we were treated as cared for customers. Nothing was too much trouble. Every member of staff was friendly, genuine and sincere. The food was outstanding and delicious. Beautiful presentation and the most intense flavours. Out of this world!
We had been recommended to Hambleton Hall by very discerning friends and so chose to go for the first time on our wedding anniversary. We were greeted accordingly, seated and enjoyed our drinks before being called to our table. The menu was both traditional and imaginative and the quality of the dishes as well as their presentation was worthy of a Michelin star. For the main course I had an excellent duck cooked to perfection while Gill had the turbot, again done to perfection. Needless to say we enjoyed our desserts and coffee and chocolates after. A most enjoyable luncheon experience, one we will be sure to repeat.
