Service was terrrible. It took longer to serve sushi than it did to serve a set of pork dumplings and chicken stir fry. They also never brought back our change (£15 approx.).
El local poco acogedor, hacía frío ,la comida pasable, el arroz estaba demasiado cocido y apelmazado. Sushi normal. Únicamente los postres era más aceptables. El servicio muy amable . Pero en general uno de los peores japoneses en los que hemos estado.
Beautiful meal served with care, skill and interest. For those of us who had visited Japan and Harajuku it was specially good - and authentic. We plan to return often.
Really tasty, wholesome Japanese food. The Miso soup is like a hug in a mug. Great service, and good variety on menu. Disappointed with one of the dishes - too much rice and not enough sauce/meat. And the only other "room for improvement" is I've always found it super chilly in there so take an extra cardy. Lovely outlook onto Bruntsfield area where you can people watch from. We always leave there feeling happy and full. Can't wait to return.
We had a lovely delicious lunch. Service was attentive and efficient. On a very cold day the restaurant was warm and comfortable.
Service was poor. Starters were good but the main courses and fishy midi soup were almost inedible. My pork was so fatty that I couldn't eat it
Amazing authentic Japanese food. Always great quality, exciting, tasty food! Would recommend.
Real gem of a restaurant, very well presented. High quality produce beautifully served, loved the food. Only negative comment would be that the wine list is quite limited and the house wine was quite sweet.
Fantastic food, good range, beautiful sushi and attentive service.
A good overall dining experience
Would recommend for great food
Very tasty and fresh food, nice atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff but a bit expensive for the portion sizes.
The food was good enough, but it took more than 40 minutes from ordering for anything at all to arrive - even edamame and soup - and the place wasn't full.
Other Japanese bistros bring things more or less as they're prepared, rather than waiting to serve the whole order at once - suggest they do this too.
Great food- just a shame got poor service and no atmosphere
It was a lovely evening the lighting could be slightly better as would not having a view of the stairs where the waiting staff were coming and going. Gorgeous food though and I will definitely return, particularly to a corner or window table.
Very simple but very authentic. I ate there for dinner and the sushi was very fresh and tasty.
I went there with friends on a get together and the restaurant was amazing. Great environment and service. Also, the food was delicious. Strongly recommend it.
We enjoyed our evening but had to wait a long time for our food. Edemame is NOT difficult to produce and would have been nice to have with a drink before the food arrived. Luckily we were not in a hurry.
Nice, cosy and home-made taste of Japanese kitchen.
I would recommend the gyoza, both vegetarian and pork ones.
Staff were really disorganised. Not usually like this.
We chose this restaurant by chance because it was near to the theatre and we were not disappointed . Very clean and tidy. Staff very pleasant. Japanese food tasted as good as it looked.
We will return.
Yummy but overpriced! Good food and cosy atmosphere but price was far too high for what's it was - wasn't blown away. Wonderful service!
I love Japenese food and was so disappointed. We were a party of 4 and the service was slow and none of us were excited by the food. It was quite uninspiring and very expensive for what it was. Won't return.
Try the aubergine curry, it's very good and filling. Sides are expensive, £7.45 for 3 x takoyaki balls!
Food was amazing however the service was poor, we booked a table but we were running late so I phoned to advise them and they advised he have an hour to eat as there's another book after us. When we arrived I was yet again advised but made like I should not be there and should have cancelled my booked. We were ready to order within 5 mins but they didn't come to take our order until like 10 mins later. When we finished we were ready for the bill but yet again took another 10 mins for the bill. We left on time but there was no-one waiting for our table!
I am not sure if that restaurant has changed hands. The food used to be excellent but now is merely average. The staff have certainly changed. The waitress took 20 minutes to take our order and she only did this as another waiter who had just come on shift altered her to the fact that we had been sitting for a while. The poor waiter did most of the work while this waitress just seemed to lift the odd plate and generally float about. This restaurant used to be a regular favourite. Sadly, it is no more. We won't be back.
amazing, best Japanese food that I have had since I was in Japan!
Slow service but good for effort.
Prawn tempura was nice.
Second visit here and really like this place a lot!
Friendly, efficient service in a casual and pleasant atmosphere. Aubergine curry and sashimi were excellent, sushi set was enjoyable. Good value, and would definitely recommend for a change to city centre dining.
Excellent restaurant in the local neighbourhood of Bruntsfield. We loved the authentic Japanese feel of the restaurant. Very friendly service and excellent food in a lovely setting. We also liked the green tea 'top ups' and thought the quality of the food was excellent value for money.
This was our second visit to Harajuku Kitchen and I enjoyed it even more than the first The location is excellent with the huge picture window looking out onto Bruntsfield and the gothic church across the road. Efficient, attentive service and delicious food.
2 of the 4 of us did get sick afterwards + service was really slow ( 1h for mains ).
Food was very good. Negativ point, we had to wait almost 45' for it. The restaurant is lovely, but very noisy.
The food was very tasty and the staff are friendly and helpful. Love the decor and the emphasis on presentation of the food!
Great food, good service and great value. Even helped to make things special for my wife on her birthday. Recommended
Great food and fantastic staff. I clumsily forgot my bank card, and the staff sent me a text about it straight away. Very friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone!
The staff are friendly and the service was lovely. It seems this place is the only authentic Japanese restaurant in Edinburgh, which had a Japanese chef. Nice wine and food. All in all, we enjoyed it. Will go again.
Food was fantastic! The Kara-age chicken was so juicy and delicious and the snow crab sushi was very tasty. Will definitely be back.
A lovely evening with great food. Very employable.
Good food and service. Seating was uncomfortable however. I'd go back, but try a different table and chairs!
