Harry Ramsden's - Bournemouth
Downstairs is a traditional British takeaway chippie, with a choice of fish on its blackboards, so you can pick up a tasty cod, haddock, plaice or scampi, freshly cooked in our secret recipe batter, for a stroll along Bournemouth’s promenade.
We look forward to seeing you at Harry Ramsden’s Bournemouth Pier very soon.
We are regular, if infrequent visitors to this restaurant. We go to the B.I.C. and the Pavilion for shows and have always come to you. Until now every thing has been very good. This time 'downhill'. The plate was not hot. The chips were poor and not hot. The peas were not hot. At the end of my battered fish there was a large hard lump which was not cooked. I pointed this out to the to the lady who had served us and a man came up said sorry and gave us 20% discount, how generous for a rubbish meal. Also it was very cold in the room. We shall have to look for an alternative venue!
Visited on 3 occasions in the last couple of years and food is always very good, Staff are really friendly
The service was poor, we had to wait 10 minutes to even be spoken to even though we had booked a table. We were then put on a table that was not clean with no cutlery and the heating was not working and it was freezing. We then found that the ladies toilets were out of order, other than the disabled toilet with a big queue waiting to use it. All in all a very disappointing experience compared with our last visit.
Quick service, reasonably priced, nice food.
Grand children well catered for, nothing was too much trouble, all in all a pleasant enough experience.
Positives first. Service was great, the waiter really super.
Negative. The food wasnt great. Although cooked well it was clear that the fish was out of a freezer and it was a very small piece
The batter was not up to scratch. It wasnt crispy.
We were in a rush so didnt complain and the food is usually really fresh and tasty. We were very disappointed
Good if you just want basic fish and chips. Not as good as i thought they would be considering the hype that surround Harry Ramsdens.
The area we sat in the restaurant was very cold so a few people in our party got cold and the food lost its heat quickly due to the air not being warm.
Would only give it 3 stars as nothing special and have had just as good at a local fish and chip shop for a lot less!
How the mighty have fallen!.... Where do I start, firstly when you’ve been walking round Bournemouth gardens enjoying the Christmas lights and atmosphere but are getting cold, you start to look forward to sitting in a nice warm restaurant and enjoying some nice hot food. Oh no, the restaurant was freezing and for the whole time we were sat there none of our party warmed up! Many of the other diners were sat there in coats with the occasional electric fan blow heater dotted around to try and warm the place up. When we questioned the waitress (who was incidentally, the only good thing about our visit) she said that the heating was broken and they were waiting for it to be fixed. Fair enough, that your heating can break down but you should be told this when entering the restaurant and make the decision whether you want to stay. Later that evening when checking recent reviews it appears that the heating has been broken for about 3 weeks! That leads to the food, which was average at best and like the restaurant itself wasn’t very warm. The chips were more like scraps and tasted like they had been re-heated many times. Having eating in HR many times in the past and always enjoyed the experience, I won’t be rushing back anytime soon. Considering our visit was a Saturday evening a few weeks before Christmas, and the town was heaving, the restaurant was fairly quiet. I’m sorry to say but this restaurant is in very serious decline and based on our experience I can’t see it being there for very much longer. ‘World famous fish and chips?’.... I’m afraid no more!
Very nice food would definitely recommend harry ramsdens
My party had a really pleasant evening. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. Thank you.
We had a lovely meal
Restaurant freezing cold. Food lukewarm. Clearly no notice has been taken to avoid the same complaints happening again. Won’t be returning.
Very scruffy with torn chairs. Great location but no atmosphere. Expected great food but was very very ordinary. Most chippies are as good.
Delicious fish and chips. Fantastic sea views. Good friendly service. Would definitely visit again.
Lovely setting, staff were lovely but was disappointed with the size if the plate of food - not good value for money!
Our meal was delicious beautifully cooked plaice and service was excellent. Booked a table which we had overlooking the beach quick and not rushed service.
The food was very generous in portion size. service was alright. drinks quite expensive for their size. It wasn’t to my taste but for others it would be.
Club 60 was marvellous value. Would highly recommend.
Staff very welcoming and lovely friendly manner from our waitress.
Nice food, although slow on drinks and bought out the wrong dessert. Friendly staff
Service was slow and staff would start to serve you before running off to serve someone else. No real ambiance just felt cold and not very inviting.
Not very good service, when they bring your starter with your main course,
Enjoyed our visit, but good was served before the drinks arrived which was not good.
The food was cold and over cooked.
Service was good.
When I complained they did offer to heat it up, but as it was already over cooked I refused.
I went to HR earlier in the year and that was not a great experience either, so I gave them the benefit of doubt and tried again, but it was a huge mistake.
Amazing fish and chips. Great value. Excellent location right on the seafront. Only let down by tied and grubby upholstery
I took a party of 14 oldies and everyone was extremely pleased with every aspect of the lunch. Food renewed our love of fish and chips. The waitresses were very attentive to our needs. Nothing was too much trouble. I was thanked all round for bringing them to this restaurant as we all thought it top class.
Great Fish and Chips! Wish we lived down the road to here as Harry has redeemed our love of this favourite national dish.
We were in a party of 14 and everyone was extremely pleased with their meal, the service and the speed in which it all arrived.
The waitresses were lovely and so happy to oblige our every request. We had tables overlooking the sea so the atmosphere was magical.
We all hope to return again before too long.
Average overpriced fish and chips but great view seals the deal
Have been to Harry many time over the years and I can only say it gets worse every time.
Waiter took order for drinks and meal. Drinks arrived promptly but not our meal. Either understaffed or not organised. My wife’s meal was just thrown on the plate and my Caesar salad was not what you would expect unless it was child’s portion.
Sorry but this will be the last time we go there.
Harvester next time.. much better value and service..
We had a lovely meal. The service was excellent and friendly. The food was fresh and tasty. Best fish&chips around. Thank you
Great venue, fab view of the seafront, very friendly efficient staff
Very friendly Italian waiter, attentive and polite.
Nice food and good portions
All good table service. Helpful waiter . Two of us ordered regular fish & chips. The fish was very small. A bit overpriced for what you got. Visited earlier in the year and was better then.
Good quick service
Nice fish, but expensive for portion size and chips not good, seemed like they'd been cooked a while ago.
We are served all our meals at once considering there were 11 of us was very impressive
Really excellent service - our waitress Anda was very pleasant, polite, friendly and extremely helpful with my special dietary needs, despite the kitchen not quite understanding what had been requested (I asked for tomato and cucumber instead of peas with my cod and chips and was brought cod and green salad with a few tomotaos - but no chips! The kitched quickly added chips when this was pointed out and our waitress made a special unrequested trip to ensure I had sufficient tomato and cucumber) Nice quiet atmosphere (6.30pm on a rainy Friday) with lovely views over the stormy sea. Food was very good - fishcakes, cod and SriLankan curry all very much appreicated.
Food was terrible. This place is just living off the name and location.
We had a amazing service at Harry Ramsden’s we were greeted by a gentleman who appeared to be french on my first look.
I had requested a table with a sea view and I wasn't disappointed. The food was mouthwatering, we had chosen cod and chips, both the fish and chips were cooked to perfection, very tasty and crispy.
It was the hottest day of the year, therefore had avoided eating later in the afternoon, also knew that it may get busier during those hours.
If your in Bournemouth then please do visit you won’t leave disappointed.
The best fish & chips I’ve had. Catered for a large group with no problem at all, highly recommend! We’ll be back!
Overall a good experience. However my glass of wine was over £6 and was very average. It was my daughter's birthday and she was looking forward to a sundae but they had run out of ice-cream!!!! Most of the desserts have ice-cream with them so disappointingly we had to leave without a sweet end to the meal!
Seated quickly. Order taken in good time. Food delivered very slowly. Starter and mains arrived together and had to chase last persons order which arrived 10 minutes after first. Fish size varied significantly despite ordering same size even where smaller “60s” portion was larger than regular adult portion.
Wasnt as good as the first time we visited. The batter was soggy on one side and seemed over done and burnt on the other. We will be tho as I'm sure it was just a one off.
