Harry's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Seems to be the place for university students with visiting parents! There was a varied menu, the food was well cooked, and it was reasonably priced. There was a really nice ambience in the restaurant and the staff were very efficient. Would certainly go here again.
Every time I visit Exeter I make a point of booking a meal at Harry’s. The food is always top notch, the service is professional, and the ambience is always agreeable. I love the menu. The produce is locally sourced, which is a nice touch. I liked that the farmers/bakers were listed on the chalkboard by name.
First visit for a pre-concert meal so in at 6. Fantastic food, very large portions though, couldn't face pud - what a shame. Service was excellent, really had a lovely meal and didn't want to rush off. Great coffee as well. Will definitely go again. Recommend booking, several people came in on spec and were turned away on a random Thursday night.
Visited Exeter a few times now and have eaten supper at Harry's and again have not been left disappointed. From entering you're greeted by professional staff and promptly seated, drinks are ordered quickly and then a relaxing evening begins. Lots to choose on the menu and they are happy to accommodate any changes to the menu as my paleo diet can cause issues when eating out. 5* to the team and we're back again in February.
We booked this restaurant based on the reviews and the photographs to go and visit our daughter at Exeter university. So, after a 4.5 hour train journey from Brighon we were pretty exhausted but once we were settled into the restaurant that was all forgotten and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. We had a wonderful meal - excellent food, faultless service and a lovely ambience. They have got everything just right and we will definitely be returning.
Attended with my husband and a friend of ours. We’d heard good things about Harry’s and we were not disappointed.
Lovely House wine at reasonable cost and lovely lovely food.
Portion sizes are enough to give you room for desert which for me is just perfect.
Waiting staff were very attentive without being overly so.
And what a beautiful building.
What’s not to love.
I first went to Harry’s over 20 years ago when it opened and I was a student, and I was thrilled to see it was still open. I have fond memories of the establishment and was keen to dine there on my recent visit to Exeter. I wasn’t disappointed.
We went at 1pm on a Saturday and it was was busy but not full, with a complete mix of clients. The food was wonderful. I had slow cooked BBQ pork ribs and my husband had the hog & mac. We didn’t have a starter as we wanted to save room for dessert.
Well, the ribs were huge with plenty of meat on them and my husband said it was the best mac & cheese he’d ever had.
The portions were plentiful and food delicious.
I told the waitress I had a photo of me 20years ago with a “heart attack” dessert which I wanted to recreate, but we were so full we couldn’t manage dessert after all. The waitress came back and offered to make me a mini heart attack! How kind is that? The service was wonderful.
My only disappointment is that I couldn’t manage even a mini dessert! We will have to return another time :-)
We went to Harry’s Restaurant for my daughters 20th, we where welcomed by friendly staff who where then intentive for the rest of the evening, menu had some thing for everyone and the food came quickly and was very enjoyable and tasty, would definitely return.
We picked Harry's as a meeting point with friends who are studying at Exeter University - and it was a great success! A very warm welcome, a fun ambience, but not so noisy that you can't hear yourself think! The food is a cut above what students can routinely afford - which was rather the point - and the only mistake I made was to be too greedy, ordering a burger that had added pulled pork, and which defeated me...a rare thing! Its name should have been a clue! Excellent otherwise - with some interesting bottles on the wine list...We will definitely return!
We enjoyed our lunch at Harry's I was looking for a restaurant with a comfortable family feel to say goodbye to my two daughters before flying back to HK. The menu was interesting and varied and the food we ordered did not disappoint. The waiting staff were attentive and friendly.
It was an accidental find which I have already recommended. When I return for a visit at Christmas I will definitely be back!
I last came to Harry's 12 years ago when I was still a student at the uni and I'm pleased to say it still has the same magic. Food was delicious and the menu offered something for everyone (nachos and mac n cheese went down a treat with our 6 year old). The soundtrack of Norah Jones et al was also a welcome bit of nostalgia too. The restaurant has been brought bang up to date but thankfully hasn't changed a bit :)
Lunch with the family - great range of dishes, with an option for everyone. Everything beautifully presented and very tasty. Decent value for money and would love to go back for an evening meal as made to feel very welcome. Would have been good to settle in with a few glasses of wine :)
We enjoyed a great meal at Harry's with spectacular food and pleasant wine. The waitresses were very pleasant and helpful and the fresh nachos and guacamole were outstanding. We had tried to book for Friday and Saturday evenings but they were full so had to wait until Sunday but it was worth it. No fussy decor, just good food in a relaxed atmosphere.
