Vanilla ice cream and seasonal compote, sable biscuit
Warm Madeleines & Lemon Curd
A great Sunday lunch. Perfect setting unhurried in nice setting. Roast beef was delicious.
Hart's kitchen on good form early into the new year. Plump, tasty, garlicky prawns and a comforting, creamy artichoke soup made good starters. Then we both had flat iron steak, cooked medium rare, as requested and full of flavour. Desserts were an excellent chocolate fondant with ice cream and unremarkable Madeleines with lemon curd. Plenty of variety in a reasonably priced wine list. Professional and friendly service from the sole waiter in the small area that serves as Hart's restaurant these days. Very reassuring that this well established eating venue in Nottingham is still delivering the goods.
The fabulous reviews we read before we booked were definitely all true, excellent welcome, drinks, service, and the food was outstanding. We'd go again if we return to Nottingham.
Wonderful! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, it really is appreciated. We look forward to welcoming you back to Nottingham. Next time why not stay in the hotel? Best wishes
Wonderful evening with delicious cooking and friendly but very professional service. A joy to visit.
It's ok but wouldn't go out of my way for it. As far as value, I'd question it. Too expensive for what is offered. Service is impeccable! Desserts are excellent.
Had a very nice meal at Harts. Perfect surroundings. The waiter was very attentive. Seamlessly kept our glasses topped up. Service was excellent and food was tasty.
Attention of waiting staff was excellent, without it being intrusive. Food was beautifully presented and full of great taste. Overall a great dining experience.
Reliable, high standards of food and service at Harts Restaurant Nottingham. Great menu choices covering all tastes. Fabulous wine selection. Relaxing and friendly ambience. A real pleasure to dine there.
Excellent established restaurant in Nottingham with a wide range of dishes often including a game option as well as a reduced set menu
Top quality - as you'd expect from the people who own Michelin starred Hambleton Hall on Rutland Water. Lovely atmosphere and food, reasonable prices for the quality on offer. A very smart but also relaxed environment. Dress: smart casual.
Disappointed with the limited menu choices and one of the 2 fish choices had run out. Dined here before with a good experience but not so this time.
Food was nice but the menu was very limited. Two fish, two beef, one vegetarian and four out of five dishes had tomatoes in. What if you don’t like/cant eat tomato?! Pricey too. And the table layout is poor, howling gale when the doors opened. Doubt I’ll be back.
Been to Harts many times over the years. On this occasion the service was totally awful. The food was still good, but the front of house team badly lets the kitchen team down. Orders taken wrong, one starter having to be re-ordered and came out after everyone else had finished, food brought out in the wrong order (vegetables cold on the table before main courses served), we constantly had to ask for everything we wanted. Lack of knowledge - for example the wine waiter was adamant port was a desert wine. This isn't the level of service we've experienced in the past with Harts and would recommend giving it a wide berth until management have got the front of house back up to a reasonable standard of service. This time I was the paying host and it was embarrassing.
Was OK. ..nothing to write home about felt a bit rushed though.
Not our first time here and we booked at the last minute on a whim. The service was as it should be and well-paced. I am not going to list what we ate but the prune soufflé was a wonderful end to a lovely meal. I need another excuse to go to Nottingham.
the whole lunch was superb, all the staff could not have been nicer and the food was stunning. Exceeded on all levels
This was my first ever visit to Harts, booked online for my 50th birthday celebration with my family. I booked the table for 8.30 only to be told on arrival that my table was at 9pm. The staff were very apologetic for the mix up. The food was tasty and the staff were very attentive. I found the restaurant room temperature quite cold and had to sit with a jacket on for most of the meal. The place lacked ambiance and I was a bit disappointed with the experience if I’m honest. I don’t think I would rush back.
This was our first visit to Harts and very pleasant it was to although the table we was given was a little close to the next table's although we was ok with it we sensed the couple next to us felt a little uncomfortable. The food in its self was very tasty but only just warm and on cold plates. The service was faultless and overall the evening was very enjoyable.
As always, we received a warm welcome. I much appreciate that we are usually given 'my' regular table, despite the fact that I don't get to you very often these days. The food was as always imaginative and of good quality, but I thought my calf's liver was somewhat overwhelmed by highly flavoured accompaniments. The service at Hart's is outstanding, and adds a great deal to the pleasure of the experience. My thanks to all.
Outstanding quality of food and service. Attentive and considerate staff. Excellent choice of wines.
I have been dining at Hart's for many years and it continues to serve good food well:)
Fast and good service and high quality food.
We had a lovely Sunday lunch just after Christmas. The standard of cooking was excellent and the service was efficient but not overbearing. I would definitely recommend Harts and will return again soon.
Harts was very disappointing. Having dined at Hambleton Hall I was expecting much more from Harts. The chef on the night had no understanding of flavour and how to get the best out of food. I had pork terrine to start. It was overpowering with garlic the other ingredients were swamped and the subtle combination of flavours lost. A red wine jus was so salty it again masked the flavours of the dish - in this case a guinea fowl and a mushroom starter dish was disappointing because the mushrooms had not been cooked properly. The service was OK but the waitress understood nothing about the wine menu and nobody was on hand to advise. Other staff were over familiar - service behaviour which was inappropriate. I shall not return!!
This is the fourth time that we have been to Harts for a meal and each time that we have been the food has been excellent, the ambience great making the whole dining experience a joy. Harts is a restaurant that I would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone either as a place to take someone special or to impress business associates.
We didn't enjoy our latest trip to Harts. The actual restaurant is looking tired and dated. The back seat in our booth was broken, toilets resemble a motorway service station, cold, slightly grubby and in desperate need of renovation.
The food was not very pleasant, all looks very fancy, but not particularly tasty! Our main fish dish was not cooked enough for our liking but asking for it to be cooked a little longer became a bit if an embarrassing drama. A total of 4 staff members came over and commented on it, with us being told that chef said it was cooked as it should be. I didn't question that, merely that i wanted it to be well cooked. All very embarrassing and I felt rather uncomfortable for the rest of the evening.
I was in Nottingham for the day so booked Hart's and once I found the restaurant in the middle of a set of hospital buildings I settled in for a long lunch. Service was attentive and the food was very tasty, and priced very keenly for the quality.
Food was nice and well presented but service was slightly chaotic. We ordered a carafe of white wine which tasted like water. Overall I felt that you don't get much of an experience for the bill that you end up paying.
We had a dinner with friends. This restaurant is marketed as fine dining but the overall experience is that it is not.
The dinner menu was on a sheet of paper and not much different from the lunch menu. The food was nothing special and the service was just acceptable, not more than that. The wine was disapponting and the choice was poor. There was nothing wrong with the price but I would rather pay more for better experience in fine dining.
Had lovely evening and would definitely recommend.
Was looking for something different to the usual fare in Nottingham and found this in Tottable's listing. You don't find oout this is part of Hart's Hotel until you get there (maybe something to do with many hotel restaurants in the UK being pretty poor).
That said, menu was good and food cooked to perfection and very tasty. The service was slightly overbearing, I like to take time and savour what's going on without staff hovering. The room lacked in any real ambience and could be a bit depressing if it was a quiet night.
I thought the prices for the starters and desserts were a bit over the top and the mains on a par with London restaurants.
I wanted to do something special to celebrate my son's birthday, which was the weekend before. This was an opportunity to celebrate with his girlfriend and family. Having lunch at Hart's was perfect. The food was exquisite. Such great quality and superbly cooked. We've had dinner here before, but never lunch. That will now change - I've already promised to take both my daughters!
We had a set menu at lunch.nice food but limited choice on the set menu option . I love their sour dough bread.
Atmosphere is relaxing ,intimate and there is no annoying music in the background.
Less than perfect this time - one of the sides was very overseasoned and the service was a bit less attentive than usual. Still remains an excellent restaurant in Nottingham.
Food at Harts is possibly the best continental cuisine in Nottingham in a good area in the castle district. Not cheap for the East Midlands but having eaten there several times, the food has never disappointed.
This was our 2nd visit to Hart's. It was just as amazing as our first visit hence booking a table again. With a menu full of mouth-watering dishes it was hard to pick! The dishes are all seasonal and beautifully presented. Will be back again in the near future.
Hart's was the first "good" restaurant in Nottingham and after 15 or so years it's still one of the best in town and currently has reached its peak again. Interesting and well-flavoured food, presented with some style and delivered with excellent service. A decent wine list and reasonable prices make this an easy choice for a good meal.
Hart's Restaurant, Nottingham
Excellent as usual, can just never fault it no matter which 'newcomer' we introduce to the restaurant.
Had a fantastic meal here. Three course set dinner had an exciting menu and the food delivered completely.
