Hartsyard is an award winning restaurant located in the heart of Newtown. Owned and operated by Australian born Jarrod Walsh and Hong Kong raised Dorothy Lee, whom have both worked in some of the best restaurants in Australia. Our philosophy is to showcase the best local produce Australia has to offer and tie that in with asian flavours and techniques. Our ever changing menu is inspired by the changing seasons so every experience will differ! We offer both an al a carte and set menu with the option for matched beverages.

Hartsyard is set on Enmore road embracing the neighbourhood vibe in a relaxed casual environment. We have limited outside seating in the warmer months. Hartsyard is only a two minute walk from Newtown station.

Visited Hartsyard on a whim and did not regret it. Food was exceptional and was a great display of variety. The wine was also amazing. Will definitely be heading back regularly as the menu changes

We had their set menu with matched beverages. I doubt they would self describe as "fine dining" but the food was on par with quality, and ahead with creative dishes and flavours. The raw coral prawn tart and the wood grilled Wagyu were the standout dishes. Overall, really great value, and I plan to be back!

We had a fabulous dining experience, the bar tender (sorry, we didn't get his name) talked us through the drinks pairings that made all the difference.
I had dietary requirements (pregnant!) and was blown away by how much attention to detail all staff had to this. Thank you.

I love the concept of the one single set menu that will be adapted to your food needs and/or restrictions. It is a sustainable concept that can fully focus on giving you one taste bomb after the other, no matter if you are vegan, seagan, glutenfree or actually eat everything.
And for the quality Hartsyard serves it is great value. I will keep coming back for sure.

One of the best meals I have eaten. The food is sublime. Dare I say, better than Quay? YES! And OMG that pork!
The matching wines and sake were spot on. Our server was so knowledgeable, wish I had gotten her name , she is very very good, an absolute asset to the restaurant.

Just love it! I have been several times and this is for sure one of my favourite restaurants in Sydney. Food is always amazing, service is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. You will never have to worry about being thirsty here! Thank you Hartsyard team for a great first restaurant experience since the shutdown.

Fantastic service and amazing food. The degustation menu was amazing and the portions were just the right size so you did not feel like you had to 'fit' the later courses in. Some amazing minimal intervention wines on the menu too. Our first outing post the lock down and it was worth it.

Aidan was awesome. He was hospitable, informative, fun & entertaining. We enjoyed our time there, loved the food and definitely will come back again. Was lovely to have head chef come out and serve and super impressed how you all took care of my shellfish allergy. I don’t normally mention my allergy but was very grateful considering the amazing menu that dot asked prior at reservation confirmation call. Thank you and look forward to coming again soon.

Food was divine! Each dish was cleverly well put together, could not fault any dishes. My favorite is the pork jowl!
Service was also great. Had a great experience and would come again.

Staff were fantastic. They even made us feel comfortable bringing our 4yr old. The food was amazing and they allowed us to swap in some interesting menu items to the set menu. Great place. Great people. Great food. Great Booze !

The food was good, but after $170 for 2 people (with a glass of wine each), I was still hungry.

The waitress was impatient, unhelpful, and seemingly uninterested in us.

It's been a few years since I've been here and I was quite disappointed.

Great service from arrival to departure. Never felt rushed. All the food was fantastic with a high hit rate of winners. Solid drinks list that's very well priced meaning you don't have to break the budget to get a well matched drop. Great atmosphere for a small space. The quality and creativity of the food coming out of the kitchen is up there with the best in Sydney. Even desserts wowed our table which can be a tough push for a lot of restaurants. Went al la carte with 5pax and ate almost the entire menu. Our 1 vegetarian had more than enough options and was equally pleased. Will definitely be going back. Maybe just to see the lovely plates and bowls they use as well!

Beer was served in a very small cup.

Food was delicious. Service is okay.

We felt a little rushed At the end when we got given the bill at 8:30 and the dessert arrived at 8:26. We ate really quick through the course as we were hungry, but there was a bit of a lag between the dishes.

I took my partner to Hartsyard for the first time for valentines and she loved it! Everything was spot on. Service was excellent, food was very presentable and delicious. Highly recommended and will definitely be back for more!

Fantastic service - the waitstaff were friendly, informative and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble and their attention to detail was amazing. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Great venue for group of five or more who want to take their time over a meal and try lots of different things.

After reading some negative reviews on TripAdvisor I was a little dubious, but we had a great meal! We did the tasting menu. We were pleasantly full by the end of it! The standouts were the octopus and the pork jowel. Highly recommend!

An enjoyable evening. Good ambiance and service. Interesting choice of shareplates. Some dishes without sauces and some fresh salad dishes would have added more variety. Wine list definitely too expensive.

Really annoyed at myself that we haven't been here sooner! Such an amazing experience. Will definitely be back and will be telling all of my friends about the amazing service, cool fitout and such fresh seafood, and well-cooked meats that we ate here. Love this restaurant. It's rare to find a place where all the staff seem so invested and knowledgeable about the food. Everything was gluten free and incredible, the restaurant is intimate and relaxed. Had a great night, again! Will be back
