The Hatton Arms
We went for lunch on the 22 May for our 14th Wedding Anniversary and sat outside in the sunshine overlooking the canal and beautiful fields. The food was amazing and once we had finished eating we carried on drinking our bottle of Prosecco on the grass which was wonderful. We went to the Hatton Arms for our 10th year Wedding Renewals celebration which was amazing.
Excellent Venue, good food, Service a little lacking due to the restaurant being so busy.
Generally, very nice.
A mixed bag - great quirky decor and friendly staff. Food not so wonderful; shared veggie platter was pretty much all bread, tiniest pot of guacamole, hummus, a handful of salad with some chickpeas tossed in, and a couple of slivers of halumi. For £17 that's pretty poor. If it had been on one plate (minus the bread) it've maybe been a single starter - why be so unnecessarily skimpy? Lamb main lovely, but fish cakes a bit dry, hardly any sauce - and the long stem broccoli was just silly... if the stalks are thick and the tops fine, then cut into the stalks! Otherwise they will be inedible - as it turned out. Puddings were probably the best bit of the meal. Service: fromorceringto starter almost 40 minutes - not acceptable for a lunch!
Beautiful setting, stunning food and friendly staff
We were greeted at the door and given every consideration from then on. Our waiter checked how things were a couple of times and was of a friendly nature. The food was good pub quality and priced keenly.
The atmosphere was lively without being loud.
Thought we would try eating at this very attractive and popular pub which on the sunny came across it was heaving with people.
We ate indoors midweek and I ordered the steak pie which I had previously seen being caried to a table. It looked very splendid.
On receipt I discovered that the expanded pastry topping was an add-on rather than being actual pastry that contained the filling and then heated up in an oven. The top was cold and the filling just sitting in a ceramic dish. Not a pie by normal standards. Clearly it had been microwaved. The food experience was basically a Wetherspoons with posher table settings and much higher prices.
This was the second time I have taken my parents to dinner here. The first time they had run out of certain items but that was nothing compared to on this occasion.
Yes it was a sunny weekend, however that had been forecast for days and you would hope planned for. We booked for 6.30pm and by that time they weren’t allowing any other diners in due to food shortages.
Once we got the menus they were on tatty printed paper (not their normal menus) with half the writing missing due to print quality. The waiter informed certain items had run out however post ordering he advised that for 3 of the 4 of us something we ordered was no longer available. The number of options no longer available exceeding the available options!
Delays are inevitable however it did get much quieter yet the delays persisted, the food quality did not make up for this, neither did the fact we had to remind them of drink requests. The waiter was not in a good mood and didn’t even try to mask this. You can cope with delays and issues when you are out at ease but we felt on edge not wanting to further annoy a clearly irritated waiter. He didn’t want us there even though we had booked a week in advance and were not walk-ins.
I’ve heard it’s great for week time lunches but would avoid at weekends as they seem to struggle with food supplies and staffing levels at peak times. If there are food issues, but a note by the door to let people know.
We had a very enjoyable meal however we booked through opentable and they had no notification of our booking. Luckily they could accommodate us.
We had an excellent lunchtime two course meal in the Hatton Arms which is local to us.
The views are lovely, setting very comfortable with a quality feel. Food portions were exceptional and excellent quality. Staff very friendly, knowledgable and attentive.
Would highly recommend this restaurant !
We went to say farewell to my daughter who was returning to work in Italy the following day.
We waited an hour and a half for our food , which was dreadful when it finally arrived. It was extremely busy due to lovely weather and they’re clearly couldn’t cope. Will not eat here again.
Great food . Service a little slow because it was so busy . Waiter was lovely but clearly under too much pressure . More staff ??? We will go again very soon though .
Booked lunch on a Monday for 5. Requested a table with easy access for an elderly relative. We had a perfect table, service was efficient without being overbearing. Very friendly and accommodating. Good choice of food, everyone enjoyed their meals. 2 X fish and chips, fish portion was enormous. Hatton Arms burger, Gammon and a Thai curry all were delicious. Would recommend for any age, suitable for birthdays etc or a casual lunch/dinner. Balcony seating to be enjoyed weather permitting.
We booked with Open Table, however, they didn't seem to know or have our booking. We got a table and were looked after by 2 very helpful members of staff.
We ordered whitebait as a starter, not on the main menu (but on the sharing platters). However would have been nice with a dip, but still very pleasant.
Ordered the rump of lamb, was explained that it would be served pink, "wonderful" just how the dish should be served. No comes out well done. Was returned to the kitchen, no issue by the front of house staff. Now a Rump of lamb takes roughly 2 mins to seal, 6-7 mins to cook in the oven and 5 mins to rest. 4 MINS mine was back at the table. My lamb had been sealed, sliced, flashed under the grill and served. The meat was chewy, raw under the surface, so ruined the dish, which was a shame as the rest of the dish was tasty, a little salty, but tasty.
Desserts were very average and took a very long time.
Great non-alcoholic beer.
Lovely waiter who made us feel very welcome food was quick and dessert was amazing
Tables different heights as well as chairs, had to sort out on arrival.
Served one of our ordered meals elsewhere so we did not all eat together.
Given a free meal but did not meet expectation.
Slightly miffed waiter served sweets to us.
Another table also complained re their meal.
Previously eaten happily here.
We booked for 17.30 but looks like they didn’t really start service until after 18.00. Had to wait untiI the specials were printed but they never materialised. I had requested either a small cake or birthday dessert but this wasn’t done. Wouldn’t go here again for a special occasion.
The tables are a bit near together and because it is a wooden floor sometimes difficult to hear when the place is busy but service and food excellent as always shame they did not have any decaff coffee!
Staying nearby for two nights. Wish we'd seen it first night. Great food & good choice, excellent service. Would definitely go again if in the area.
We often come to the Hatton Arms for Sunday lunch as all of the traditional meats are on offer, apart from pork this time! The food is good and service quick and pleasant, which is handy if you have a following appointment. There is a good ambiance picking up on the Country Pub theme, with some original features and log fires!
Staff were a little disinterested - but my main gripe is that they NEVER answer their phone! I needed to make changes to my reservation and also ask some questions and tried phoning from midday to 1800....nothing. I have also been told by friends that they have been sat in the bar (when not busy) and the phone is never answered.
Service was fantastic and helpfull. Meal was excellent.
Excellent food, great service. Lots of choices on the menu. It was very busy as it was Mother’s Day but didn’t feel like we had to wait. Large car park and nice decor. Good for a walk by the canal afterwards.
Very pleasant evening, very good service, good food
A great place for a business lunch meeting or just catching up with friends. Lovely friendly atmosphere and a great selection of good quality and reasonably priced food. Easy to find and parking isn't ever an issue.
We enjoyed our Sunday lunch very much. We had to change the time of our booking at the last minute and they were very accommodating.
Booked on line through open table but unfortunately our booking hadn’t filtered through to the restaurant despite receiving e mail confirmation. Suggest if you want to book the Hatton Arms you telephone your reservation. Went for Sunday lunch - very disappointing vegetables and a lighter less calorific dessert might be a good addition to the menu.
Great food. Service was terrific. Felt looked after.
we visit maybe 4 times a year ,but usually in the day .so it was nice to go in the evening .Lovely seat by the window ,(which you can open ! Fab ! ) only problem is tables are low and sometimes it's hard to get your thighs underneath a bit of a squeeze.Anyway ,started pleasant (baked Camembert ) but partners main on pork medallions was bland .We sent it back and beefburger was delicious .I loved the fishcakes they are scrummy.we loved the chilled vibe ,and had a lovely evening .looking forward to the next time .
Lovely food and good menu but considering the place was almost empty the service was incredibly slow
I was in the Warwick area on a training course and was staying at Wroxhall Abbey. A friend who was also staying in the area suggested meeting for dinner. So I went onto Google and typed in restaurants in the area and your's was listed - I read the review and it was only 5 mins from where I was staying so I booked a table online and it was short(ish) notice but still got a table for 7.30pm.
Great place, food was excellent and service exceptional. If I'm in the area again, I will certainly book a table!
Great food, service and ambience, very welcoming, thank you
Love the Hatton Arms and have been many times, and will always recommend to anybody.
Extremely well looked after.
Had a great evening meal for 4..Good menu, excellent friendly and efficient service. Restaurant busy as usual on a Saturday evening but service still excellent. All members of our party commented on what a good time we had.. Highly recommend
We love meeting up at this restaurant. It has a very easy going atmosphere, there is no rush to choose from the good variety of choice on the menu. My only criticism is that we find it a bit on the cool side and it is very draught.
The restaurant and the food were excellent with a good choice. The occasion was spoilt a little by the ambience due to a large crowd sitting by the door who were exceptionally loud and children consistently entering the toilet; this made it very difficult for us to be heard. The position of those tables made this difficult and would not be evident on other tables. A designated area for drinking only away from the tables would be recommended.
Much improved over the past 12 months. Both food and ambiance both tremendous.
A great place for lunch or dinner whether with friends, family or work. The food and service is always excellent and well worth the drive.
Four of us came for Sunday lunch. The restaurant area was almost full and extremely busy and we thought we'd be kept waiting for ages.....not so! Drinks and food orders were taken quickly and arrived in good time. Our charming waiter was most attentive. One in our party enjoyed the vegetarian green curry option, the rest of us opted for the traditional roasts and cleared our plates! Good choice of desserts. We would certainly recommend and intend to return.....
Good food, good service. This was our second visit with our friends from Cornwall, and they have really enjoyed it both times.
