Service and food was excellent. Would highly recommend the tostones rellenos. Will be going again next time in Miami Beach.
After reading that Havana Vieja was rated as the number 2 restaurant in Miami Beach on Trip Advisorand wanting to have some Cuban food while in Miami Beach, we decided to go here. First, my Lechon Pork was very tasty although salty. And my husband’s dinner Frite Vieta was good. The guacamole was ok.
The worst part was the music was waaay too loud for a restaurant. If we had been in a club, that would have been different. And our server forgot to bring the guacamole before our main courses, even though it is listed as an starter. Maybe if it had come out early we wouldn’t have noticed it took 45 minutes for our meal to be served. They also cram you in with very small tables and people right on top of you. Will never go back here again! And Trip Advisor is not to be trusted.
Service was just decent as well as it was the food.
From Cuba it only have the inspiration.
Biggest disappointment: An ‘authentic Classic Mojito’ mix with SODA for $14
Very good time and delicious food. Expensive but not for Miami. Standard drink prices
Best mojitos. Great authentic Cubans food. Good service and ambiance.
Everything was wonderful. I didn’t give the food 5 stars because my food was not hot. It was warm but not hot. Other than that, it was a great place!
Ok good service slow and inconsistent.
Wonderful all around!! The food, ambiance and service were excellent. Definitely a must visit! Oscar was a great server with good recommendations.
Beautiful cuban decor. Our breakfast was delicious and good service. Excellent place to go with family.
The food was delicious and authentic the service was impeccable. Will definitely go back.
Too too noisy, don’t go here if you want a quiet dinner. Food was so so.
Excellent place when your in the mood for home cooked meal and excellent service 😋
Excelente servicio, atención y comida.
De las mejores experiencias en nuestro viaje a MIA
Dinner with family while in Miami. Very good Mojitos, loved the grilled octopus and empanadas. Our group shared the garlic shrimp, paella, seafood platter and skirt steak. All were delicious! If you like authentic Cuban food in a lovely setting this is a must in Miami!
Paella with rice overcoocked
Perfect spot for our first night in Miami. The food was delicious and the service was great!
Quick, easy, and delicious!
Cute restaurant. Our food and drinks were delicious and the server was very friendly and attentive. I would definitely return.
Augustine our server was outstanding. Very attentive and friendly . The food was delicious
great overall experience
Colorful lively ambiance with great Cuban food staples. The Ropa Vieja and the Cubano Sandwich were both excellent - big flavorful portions.
Great first experience. Real and authentic Cuban food.
Food is very bland not authentic Cuban flavors, good music and a little slow but good service.
Great service. They were busy and the general manager helped us until our server was available. The food was great, the ambiance was amazing and the service was outstanding.
Great food and location.
Expensive but great
One of the best meals we’ve ever had. Everything was incredible.
The service was terrible, and they overcharged me. The server brought me different stuff than what I ordered.
Going to Miami, you have to try Cuban food. Havana veija had a nice Cuban vibe in their cool outdoor seating. My wife and I enjoyed the plantain chips. The drinks were okay - The mojito needed more mint. As the the food, it was mixed. We shared the meat for two, which was a lot of food. The chicken was excellent and had a unique flavor. The pork was good as was the moros (black beans and rice with bacon). I found the steak a little dry but my wife liked it. The sausage was okay but there is definitely better elsewhere. Maybe we should have tried the seafood instead. Overall, the food was okay but a few things were less than excellent.
On the bright side, the servers were very attentive, which for the slow, laid-back beach was a surprise.
Best Tres Leches!!
The lechon was very salty which was disappointing. We sat there for 20 mins without anyone coming up to us and asking to take our order. When she finally did come she took our order, they brought our food and she never checked if we needed anything else after that. The only good thing was the stuffed tostones they were very good. We were really looking forward to this place because the reviews seemed to all be good but it was a huge disappointment. We won’t be coming back here on our next Miami vacation.
Awesome local spot. Food is excellent
While looking up Cuban restaurants to try, Havana Vieja Restaurant popped up and after looking through Yelp I had to check them out! The restaurant is located on the first floor of the Chelsea Hotel South Beach. The main seating area is on the outside with very limited seating inside by the bar. There is one restroom inside the lobby of the hotel for guests of the restaurant and hotel to use.
You can't help but notice the cozy and laidback outdoor atmosphere/ vibe with beautifully decorated walls lined with various Cuban art, music and signs of the different providences in Cuba.
Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by the hostess and sat right away. Then we were greeted by our waitress Gisela with a warm welcome and big smile. She immediately brought us water and complementary plantain chips.
We wanted to keep things as traditional as possible so we started with their mojitos. We had the traditional and passionfruit mojitos. They were both very delicious!
For appetizers we ordered their homemade empanadas. Each order brings two and you can choose from either chicken or rope Vieja. We asked for one of each to try them both out. They were so delicious and the meat was so juicy inside. You will not be disappointed if you order! The aioli sauce that comes with the empanadas is AMAZING!!!! The empanadas taste good on their own but this elevates their flavor even more.
For our entrée, we ordered the rope vieja and vaca frita. Both plates were so delicious and packed with so much flavor and really good genorous portions of meat. I honestly felt like I was eating at my grandmother's house of how delicious the food is and so flavorful. Meats were juicy, beans were so good and the sweet plantains were perfect. I couldn't put put down my fork!
Overall, I enjoyed the vibe of the place and how cozy it felt. The decorations and artifacts throughout the restaurant is what I loved about the place.
Great atmosphere, phenomenal food, authentic Cuban vibe and feel. Very enjoyable! Paella was off the charts, the Ropa Vieja was delicious, Pina Coladas flavorful, frozen, and not too strong, and the empanadas were awesome. Service was a little slow, but that's Miami Beach area for you. Couple streets West of the beach, so not as loud or expensive as the places right on Ocean Drive. Would highly recommend this place!
Very bad rude service.
#1 hostess gave us small table in the middle and when we ask to change to bigger table she wasn’t happy with that. When restaurant was empty! She said we are only 2. Lol what’s the matter of you have empty restaurant???
I really came here because of Cuban sandwich in menu and tar tar with salmon and good price for whole branzino
#2 their menu online isn’t same as in restaurant. Online they don’t write that Cuban sandwich only until 4 pm lol while the actual restaurant menu says sandwich only until 4 pm
#3 nobody served us, no water, no nothing for 15 minutes so we left. Don’t want to pay for sloppy rude service.
PS we specifically took Uber there but since they were ride end up walking 10 min to 1957 Havana. Was much better choice!!!!!
Nice restaurant away from ocean drive noise. Service was very good even though it’s very busy.
The staff goes out of the way to welcome you, we had Franco and he was amazing with reccomendations
Very good food, great service, home made pasta was really good
The food was spectacular, as was the service. Highly recommend to anyone in the south beach area. Lovely ambiance outside. Food was very flavorful. We got the empanadas, ropa vieja, croquetas, and the pork and it was all fantastic.
