Superb food: we had oysters/ asparagus/ lobster and rump steak : all cooked perfectly and presented without fuss or distraction. Atmosphere good but it was loud with a table of 3 drunk men nearby which was a shame, overall the feel was of a busy pub bar/ restaurant.
Always reliable. Very good food and reasonably priced wine in pleasant surroundings.
Came for our usual roast but had sold out (only guaranteed til 4pm) that said we opted for 35 day aged rump and was just as amazing
Great service, especially as I am on a specific diet from the doctors and have to avoid lots of different foods. The staff really helped, adapted and found something I could eat. And the steak is delicious!!!
Has to be the best Sunday Roast you can get and at a reasonable price, the highlight was the beef obviously and the Yorkshire Pudding was exceptional.
Great food and drink as always - The roast beef portion not as generous as previous times I've been but still awesome food!
Amazing service, I live in Devon and almost come up every time
I’m up for your Sunday roast and some lovely wine. I always
Recommend and haven’t had any complaints yet.
Used to be the best Sunday roast in town but was really disappointed this time - very average food, particularly given the price (£21). Good service but will trust the local gastropub in future as at least as good as this
Good service, very tasty and good quality steak and salad. Best british steak. Very happy. Thanks.
Fantastic steak as per usual - that’s what keeps us coming back to Hawksmoor
Great Steak with variety of vegetable sides.
The Bone Mellow for the starter was the killer.
Friendly staff and quick service was excellent, too.
The location is perfect as of the right north of Borough market.
I might visit London again just for this food!
Delicious food. We shared the prime in bone steak and it was amazing, one of the best steaks I've had in my life. Service was attentive and we felt well cared for. Cocktails were delicious too, I had a Hawksmoor Collins which was excellent.
We had a voucher, so paid less for food, be aware of the prices before you go.
We went to this restaurant for my husband's birthday. We could not fault the food or the service. The scallop starter was delicious. We all ordered steaks and even my "well done" steak was cooked to perfection - the meat was cooked right through but remained tender. My only criticism is that the restaurant is very dark, could do with a little more light but that is only my opinion. Perhaps this is the way it has been designed. I would definitely recommend to others.
My friend and I went for the two course fixed price menu which you can have before 6.30pm. We went for the two course meal at £25. The starter of spiced cauliflower was really tasty. For main I had the steak and triple friend chips and my friend had the steak with greens. The sides were delicious, however we were disappointed with the steaks. We found them to be chewy and over cooked (we had asked for medium). Shame about the steaks, as everything else was lovely!
The food is amazing
We went for the Sunday roast and it was amazing! Definitely lives up to its reputation and I'll be going again.
Considering 2 starter, 2 gls of wine a main to share without any side, not even a sauce to go with steak a chips and a bottle of wine and water (desert from the house)bill come over £200 I found it a bit too expensive..... I’ll probably going back in the evening since they running a 50% off on food!!!
Excellent meal with fantastic service. The staff really know their stuff. They were really friendly and made our anniversary meal even more special by saving particular seats for us. The food was incredible, the best steak we have ever had.
Really great food. Fantastically cooked steak and tasty sides. Very friendly service but quite slow.
Best steak in town
Food was fantastic couldn’t fault it at all and quick to be served. I would just prefer to have my bottle of wine at the table with me as I felt like a bit of a schoolboy having to ask if I can have some more of my wine that I have paid for.
First off, I couldn't believe that the bar in this location did not have cocktail onions, so could not have a pre dinner Gibson so had to settle for a Vodka Martini instead ;)
That was the only negative for this experience.
Had not been to this Hawksmoor before so was looking forward to dining here and was not disappointed. The location is great for London Bridge area, the interior was lovely with a great ambiance, food was all very good as expected and the staff were professional, polite but also friendly at the same time.
Definitely recommend and would definitely go back.
Great food and great service every time I have been here. I love it and will be back very soon.
Our anniversary and bank holiday Monday wet Miserable London but was enlightened by this lovely restaurant and it’s staff. The food was first class the service even better. We took our own wine which is £5 corkage and only available on a Monday. We both had Fillet Streak done to perfection. A meal for two with desert was £110. A little expensive but worth it.
Great staff, great food and great décor. Nothing more to say...
One of the best Sunday roasts I have had. My two children (both under 10) had the express menu and it was good value. They rated the sticky toffee sundae 10/10!
The food was very good and the service was excellent. We have absolutely nothing to complain about. The kids portion of the Sunday roast was enough even for an adult.
Great food, served by a great waiter in a restaurant with a great atmosphere! Everything was great and I cannot fault anything about the meal we had.
I'll be honest. I'm not a massive fan of Hawksmoor as a brand - never have been. The times I have been there I have always felt something was lacking. I've previously described this sense as 'a £20 steak for £50', but I always review/comment based on each individual experience so for this recent visit (we happened to be in Borough so it made sense) I'd say things have gotten better. I enjoyed my steak and the wine was excellent.
Things preventing me from 5*? Two of them:
1) I love Oysters, I'm a fan. The dozen that I shared with my partner were shucked by a teenager in a hurry. Not good.
2) The service was less then perfect. For a £300 meal for two I expect pretty decent service. On this occasion We were seated in a section with a couple of celebratory tables (no problem with that) but it meant we were second best. I hate that. Each diner as an individual is important. Period.
In the plus column the wine list was excellent (seems to be a London thing at the moment - great wine lists) and the company was great.
I'd recommend but with caveats. The Savoy Grill this isn't, but for the same price.
Excellent food service and ambience but expensive.
The restaurant has a good atmosphere, vibrant but not too loud at the same time. Would definitely recommend for friends get together or work dinings. The staffs are very helpful and we were allowed to sit for more than 2 hours as there aren't too many people the night I went.
Took my husband to meet my daughter and partner to celebrate his 55 birthday. We had a really lovely tasty meal and drinks. The staff were great and treated us with a warm welcome and made our occasion really nice.
My girlfriend and me weee visiting London from the US. This amazing restaurant was recommended by a local. Amazing food and atmosphere.
Hawksmoor have always delivered whenever I have visited them. The last meal was no exception. Scallop starter was outstanding. Bone in prime rib was to die for. Good job I was hungry! Our server was a great guy who took the time to talk with us and discuss the menu and best cooking selection. I'll be back!
A good place for meat lovers. Good service so it works well for a business meal.
Best Sunday roast we’ve had in London! Huge portion sizes, great value! X
I have dined at Hawksmoor many times over the years and always enjoyed it. This was my second time at this particular branch in Borough Market. The evening was generally lovely and the food was great as always apart from the fact that the service was awful. Our male waiter was grumpy and unfriendly from the start to finish and it was very noticeable. He seemed like he did not want to be serving us at all and that every request was a chore. We left the suggested tip but did think twice about reducing it to reflect how awful the service was. I left my comments about the waiter with the host at the end of the evening but didn’t get much of a response from her. It won’t necessarily put me off going there again but did leave a sour taste in my mouth.
Staff were lovely and very helpful. Food was delicious but overpriced. Great location.
