Went with my friend for his birthday. It was a treat. It was expensive (we both had big big steaks each starters and desserts and drinks). I loved the ambience and from the moment we walked in the door we was made to feel very welcome and they wished my friend a happy birthday as we walked in and as we left. The stand out for me were the starters and the dessert. Belly rib - I could've had 5 of those - simply stunning - melt in your mouth bliss. The yorkshires were really unusual - and super tasty. I had the peanutbutter dessert and I'd died and went to heaven. The steaks we had were ok. We had portahouse and ribeye. I preferred the Ribeye. You can do this cheaply buy going on a Monday £5 corkage deal and sticking to the smaller cuts. But don't skip starters and desserts. They are to die for. I will be going back.
Came for my boyfriend’s birthday on a Monday, paid a £5 corkage fee (amazing) and ordered 700g of prime rib, which was fantastic. Very pricey, but worthy, I thought. They brought out some salted caramel chocolates and a candle for the birthday, which was considerate. Really great time at Hawksmoor, would come back again... and again.
I am not going to lie: it is an expensive restaurant. BUT. It is worth it.
Food quality is amazing - not only the steaks are cooked to perfection, tender and juicy (without being bloody) but the sides are spectacular as well (try the creamed spinach!).
Staff is without compare: it was my partner's birthday and - without asking - they surprised him with a nice birthday candle to blow and a box of delicious handmade chocolates.
Wine is overpriced, no doubt about that.
Overall, one of the best dining experiences I ever had in London.
Me and my boyfriend had our anniversary dinner here and everything was 10/10! We loved the food and the staff here was also top notch! Will definitely come back!🤩👏🏼
The food was great and our waitress was lovely but was very disappointed to find the roast had sold out by the time of our 6pm booking!
Hawksmoor Borough was a perfect place for Sunday roast dinner. Very easy to get to and very welcoming. Fabulous food and lovely atmosphere- perfect for a birthday celebration. Will definitely return and recommend to friends.
A lovely meal. Great food as ever and service. We took our 7 year old for the first time and he enjoyed it too.
Absolutely brilliant experience. Every course was perfect and the service was attentive. We didn’t wait too long for any food and equally it wasn’t worryingly fast suggesting it was all pre made in the kitchen. I was also really impressed by the atmosphere - the perfect place to come for an exquisite Sunday roast and be able to relax whilst being in an upmarket restaurant, not over pretentious just the perfect balance. Will definitely come again!
Took old friend as special Sunday lunch treat!
Slightly downgrading the food score because one of the slices of beef we had for Sunday Lunch was very fatty and impossible to cut through. To the credit of the staff, they removed the cost of it from the bill and invited us back for a free lunch in the future. So, whilst food was not quite excellent, the response was 6 stars!
The staff were absolutely excellent at all times from the moment you enter to the moment you leave. Our waiter was knowledgeable and willing to take the time to explain and offer opinion on the menu.
The food and wines were all fantastic, we both enjoyed every part of our meals.
Very, very good meat; cooked to precision. Sides also very good - albeit charging 3 quid per small bearnaise serving is a little overdoing it. We got excellent advice on both the meat selection and wine.
Superb food and service, kind and engaged server, very enjoyable - seemed to be a corner for tables for 2 which, whilst maybe great for date nights, lose a bit of the main room's buzz if you're after a bit more atmosphere.
I believe you get what you pay for went with two colleagues who had the oysters to start they assured me that they were excellent.we all had steak for mains and all were perfect had to question the weight of porterhouse we ordered to share and I think we were right to do so as another piece of steak appeared half way through the meal !!! All very nice but left a bit of a blot on what otherwise was a very enjoyable afternoon. Wine is a bit pricey but as I say you get what you pay for
Absolutely enjoyable evening, staff were outstanding, very warm welcome, attentive and incredibly helpful. Will definitely re-visit.
I love coming to this restaurant when I’m back in London. Being a fairly strict carnivore when it comes to my diet, this is the place to be for me! Great service, and incredible beef! It does get a little noisy in there, but that doesn’t put my off their amazing steak 🥩
The service was excellent and the food fantastic, my guests were very impressed. Well done and thank you,
we will be returning.
I’m a Hawksmoor regular and every time I dine there it reinforces why!
Simple business model of good ingredients, well cooked, presented simply but effectively.
I always enjoy my Hawksmoor experience. My only criticism was on arrival in bar I wasn’t served with several staff members walking past me & my wife without offering to take a drinks order. I had to approach a member of staff and ask them to serve me drinks ...... strange and not very Hawksmoorish!!
The food was good, but service wasn't great. I was disappointed because we wanted Sunday roast, only to find out we needed to pre-order it.
After having been to other Hawksmoor locations, I was a little disappointed that the decor did not match the price point. However, we had a lovely time with delicious food and wonderful ambiance and will likely visit again albeit more dressed down.
Have been to Hawksmoor in Edinburgh twice and the steak was amazing quality - for this Borough visit the 3 of us in the party had significant amounts of fat on sirloin and even fillet steak making approx 1/3 of the steak inedible . Also disappointed with our table which was right outside the entrance to kitchen so staff continually going back and forth with dishes - not really what I want to see when paying £220 for a meal for 2 adults and a child.
We had a lovely waiter named Andrew who really made our evening!
Get in early on a Sunday if your hoping for a roast though!
The best Sunday Roast bar none!
We arrived early but this didn't cause an issue. Friendly staff on arrival. Great atmosphere in the restaurant . Good food choices . We had excellent service . Food was very high quality . A very enjoyable experience and we will definitely be returning soon.
We did arrive early for our booking and were suggested to have a drink in the bar. As we’d booked later in the evening we were pretty hungry, so when we were seated we ordered almost straight away. Explained my food intolerances clearly to the first waitress who served us, my partner ordered the smoked mackerel salad as a starter, it came, he ate it, plate cleared, all seemed good.
35 minutes after we initially ordered, the waitress comes to tell us that the kitchen has run out of sweet potato which we had both ordered to accompany mains. 35 minutes?
Then after offering other sides and me reiterating that I cannot eat garlic or onion, she goes off to the kitchen to check on the ingredients in the mashed potato. Unfortunately for us, she doesn’t come back but a different guy brings the food out a few minutes later and sure enough the mashed potato is loaded with gravy which I know I cannot eat. When I explain the above and tell him I cannot eat it because of the gravy he says he didn’t know. It’s disappointing as we chose Hawksmoor because I’ve had such great dining experiences with these limitations in your other restaurants. The four different wait staff that served our table probably contributed to this lack of communication but it’s 2019 and I’d expect a brand like Hawksmoor to take intolerances and allergies seriously. It is not serious enough to kill me but it genuinely makes me very ill for the following days.
We asked for the bill as we finished and my mojito was comped because we left before the dessert they said they usually bring out for birthdays. 3 stars because the steaks were cooked perfectly and as always were incredible and the two guys at the bar on arrival were so welcoming, upbeat and efficient!
Our server Ellie was extremely lovely and helpful! She helped us choose the right selection of steak to get and also assisted with sides. The food was absolutely amazing and can't wait to come back!
It was a conducive atmosphere, lovely service all night
Great food and service. Would have liked a better weight selection on some of the cuts as they only seemed to have larger cuts available which made it expensive for 2 to share something special. One note - the gents toilets were absolutely disgusting and the toilets were missing seats. If you’re looking for a quiet restaurant this isn’t for you. It was pretty hard to hold a conversation over everyone else and the background music.
Perfect in every way
One of a handful of favourite restaurants in London, and hence why I keep returning. Efficient, friendly service in a very relaxed atmosphere. Excellent food (fillet steak is in a class of its own), perfect cocktails.
Always excellent. The lunchtime set menu offers outstanding value.
Delicious food in a cozy restaurant! Will definitely visit again soon.
The food was fantastic, the best steak I have had. I am pregnant and had to have my steak well done and was expecting it to be a little tough and dry but the steak was still so soft, juicy and tasty.
My only negative would be that the tables are really close together and it was really loud in there.
Great food and wine. Service was good but not great. A bit miffed when the turned us away from having a drink at the bar 30mins before our reservation
Visiting from US, Hawksmoor Borough is great to experience local non tourist restaurant. The food was exceptional, staff friendly and ambience wonderful.
Incredible dinner and impeccable service! We visited for my partner's 30th birthday, and had the perfect night! The food was amazing and the staff were so attentive and helpful. Thank you so much.
Awesome as usual amazing Porter House Rib
Amazing steaks with great sides, mouthwatering really enjoyed the visit as did all my colleagues - well done highly recommend.
Only thing to note is choice of beers is very limited but that’s a small point.
Excellent quality food combined with very friendly welcoming service
