What Insiders Are Saying
The Borough branch of the upmarket Hawksmoor steak palaces is every bit as accomplished as its siblings.
Busy and loud dining experience. Excellent food and outstanding service. Good for meals with friends but not good for a date.
We had a blast and will definitely be back
Was slightly annoyed that the the lobster came to £21 when on the menu it says £7. This is confusing
Birthday. We had Hambledon sparkling 👍and excellent rib-eyes.
Amazing, best food I’ve ever had! Would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone I know.
Great food, went for the express menu, which I highly recommend, very reasonable price for what you get. Think it was £28 for starter main course and desert
Normally I really like Hawksmoor but the food was all slightly disappointing this time around. Not bad by and stretch but nothing special. My steak was overcooked. When it’s good it’s worth the money - this time it wasn’t.
Excellent as always. The Monday night corkage offer is fantastic and the steak was perfect, as usual. The service is great, a nice balance of knowledgeable and casual.
Great location, lovely setting.
I hate writing a bad review but this feedback is honest:
The food took 40 minutes to come to our table... for three people I found it infuriating as I know a medium rare steak, a courgette dish with sides does not take that long...
I can't really comment on the quality of the food because by the time it got to our table we were pretty ravenous!
A shame, because I've had better experiences in other Hawksmoor's.
Second time I’ve been to Hawksmoor and both were fantastic meals. The food really is excellent. I just wish the noise level was a bit lower - it was borderline uncomfortable when we arrived and they had music playing and though it improved a bit over the evening it was still difficult to hear a conversation even on our small table for three. When I got home I realised my throat was hoarse from trying to make myself heard. The food was so good I would definitely go again though
Rump pretty tough. Peppercorn sauce incredibly salty.
Philip our waiter was lovely.
Was. Bit disappointed that they had run out of roast but has the rump steak and that was excellent as always
Birthday, and the food and atmosphere was brilliant
Went for a Sunday roast at 1pm for 5 people. One of us had the chicken and the other 4 people had the beef - everyone was extremely happy! Service was great - only improvement I can think of is to refill diners wine glasses quicker when the wine bucket has been placed out of reach. Quite a few times where a couple of us had empty glasses. But that’s nitpicking! Other wise a great roast in a great restaurant. Thanks!
The food was great but what really made our evening was our fabulous waitress.
Excellent food, amazing service. Spot on from start to finish.
This place has great reviews so we had high expectations. A great welcome on our arrival and friendly and knowledgeable service however the food was disappointing - I had the potted beef and bacon with Yorkshire puddings as a starter and unfortunately the Yorkshires were very burned and consequently completely dry. The rest of the meal was just ok. The wine selection was also very good.
Lunch for 3 on Saturday, we had the summer special menu and it was superb, highly recommend a visit.
I found worm in my plate, but staff just kept it away without any other responsibility.
No refund or claim. For other, it was good. The food was pretty good. I would recommend lamp.
The restaurant is really too noisy and dark. It's difficult to talk and understand one another
Excellent food and service. The food was incredible and the staff clearly know their meat!! A great way to celebrate my birthday with very attentive hosts.
Starters and dessert was good but the actual steak meal was disappointing. Not as flavourful as other steak houses. And it wasn't just the specific cut considering we ordered the ribeye and the fillet. As a steakhouse that is quite disappointing.
Was really worked up for that Chateaubriand, was disappointed that the meat was way too chewy.
However, their rib eye steak along with other dishes were amazing. ONLY ORDER INDIVIDUAL STEAKS AND NOT BIG CUTS!!!
The staff were amazing and friendly, could not hope for better. Big thumbs up on the staff!
The service was very good, staff were attentive and the food was excellent
Food was great, waiters could be a little more professional but overall a good experience.
Not the cheapest of places, but absolutely one of the best experiences and food anywhere in London. Attentive, knowledgeable and helpful staff, very unpretentious and great atmosphere.
Would return at the drop of a hat and recommended heartily to anyone.
Great vibe and all staff were brilliant. Service was excellent. Food and drink was superb. Definitely worth the time to go here.
Delicious food and wine, wonderful service, and lovely surroundings. Highly recommended for a special date!
Service is great.
Looking for somewhere to impress a friend or close one or even business partners? This is the place!
Good Ambience, lunch value for money, need better pricing for wine.
Lovely food , great service , bit pricey, but worth it for special occasions.
Delicious food. Courteous service. PLeasant ambience.
Excellent food, very attentive service, would definitely recommend
It was quite delicious food I’ve ever eaten in the UK!
As a dining experience it was only ‘ok’ . My wife had two starters rather than a main course and felt that the portions were actually too large - particularly the pork starter. My starter of Devon crab was fresh and tasty but ruined by the burnt slice of toast on which it sat. My main course of sea bream was properly cooked and tasty. We both enjoyed our desserts but my chocolate pudding and mascarpone looked peculiar and unappetising on the plate - but tasted nice - if unusual. We also felt the prices were rather high for the level of dining delivered. We would recommend to friends but I think you need a clearer idea of what you are trying to deliver as a dining experience. Perhaps be careful not to ‘slip between two stools’.....?
Amazing food & staff were so friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend
This branch of hawksmoor is always hit and miss. Last time I was there for lunch it was great, this time there was a hair in my carpaccio and my chicken main was tasteless and dry. Well it was tasteless until I went to add pepper only to find the pepper grinder was full of salt. Luckily I didn't put too much on but that's poor from a restaurant of this calibre.
I went to Hawksmoor Borough for Sunday roast with my boyfriend last Sunday. We made a reservation at 2 pm and we arrived there quite early so, a staff said a table for us is not ready then asked us to have a seat at the bar. However, no one helped us till 2.10 pm although we could see spare tables. We then had to ask and realized that the staff who asked us to wait at the bar forgot about us. It wasn't a problem to be honest, but we both got bellyache the day after we had Sunday roast. It was disappointing even though we both like Hawksmoor.
Came here for Sunday roast and it was the best I have had in London. I would say it is pricey but you go get the amount you have paid for. The gravy served alongside the roast is not really proportionate to the meal but it sure is made well and really taste. The desserts are great too. Not a difficult place to find and I would recommend getting a booking as tables do fill up quite quickly.
Fantastic service, fantastic food. A bit on the noisy side but that was due to a full restaurant of happy customers enjoying their Hawksmoor experience!
