What Insiders Are Saying
The Borough branch of the upmarket Hawksmoor steak palaces is every bit as accomplished as its siblings.
The restaurant is really too noisy and dark. It's difficult to talk and understand one another
Excellent food and service. The food was incredible and the staff clearly know their meat!! A great way to celebrate my birthday with very attentive hosts.
Starters and dessert was good but the actual steak meal was disappointing. Not as flavourful as other steak houses. And it wasn't just the specific cut considering we ordered the ribeye and the fillet. As a steakhouse that is quite disappointing.
Was really worked up for that Chateaubriand, was disappointed that the meat was way too chewy.
However, their rib eye steak along with other dishes were amazing. ONLY ORDER INDIVIDUAL STEAKS AND NOT BIG CUTS!!!
The staff were amazing and friendly, could not hope for better. Big thumbs up on the staff!
The service was very good, staff were attentive and the food was excellent
Food was great, waiters could be a little more professional but overall a good experience.
Not the cheapest of places, but absolutely one of the best experiences and food anywhere in London. Attentive, knowledgeable and helpful staff, very unpretentious and great atmosphere.
Would return at the drop of a hat and recommended heartily to anyone.
Great vibe and all staff were brilliant. Service was excellent. Food and drink was superb. Definitely worth the time to go here.
Delicious food and wine, wonderful service, and lovely surroundings. Highly recommended for a special date!
Service is great.
Looking for somewhere to impress a friend or close one or even business partners? This is the place!
Good Ambience, lunch value for money, need better pricing for wine.
Lovely food , great service , bit pricey, but worth it for special occasions.
Delicious food. Courteous service. PLeasant ambience.
Excellent food, very attentive service, would definitely recommend
It was quite delicious food I’ve ever eaten in the UK!
As a dining experience it was only ‘ok’ . My wife had two starters rather than a main course and felt that the portions were actually too large - particularly the pork starter. My starter of Devon crab was fresh and tasty but ruined by the burnt slice of toast on which it sat. My main course of sea bream was properly cooked and tasty. We both enjoyed our desserts but my chocolate pudding and mascarpone looked peculiar and unappetising on the plate - but tasted nice - if unusual. We also felt the prices were rather high for the level of dining delivered. We would recommend to friends but I think you need a clearer idea of what you are trying to deliver as a dining experience. Perhaps be careful not to ‘slip between two stools’.....?
Amazing food & staff were so friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend
This branch of hawksmoor is always hit and miss. Last time I was there for lunch it was great, this time there was a hair in my carpaccio and my chicken main was tasteless and dry. Well it was tasteless until I went to add pepper only to find the pepper grinder was full of salt. Luckily I didn't put too much on but that's poor from a restaurant of this calibre.
I went to Hawksmoor Borough for Sunday roast with my boyfriend last Sunday. We made a reservation at 2 pm and we arrived there quite early so, a staff said a table for us is not ready then asked us to have a seat at the bar. However, no one helped us till 2.10 pm although we could see spare tables. We then had to ask and realized that the staff who asked us to wait at the bar forgot about us. It wasn't a problem to be honest, but we both got bellyache the day after we had Sunday roast. It was disappointing even though we both like Hawksmoor.
Came here for Sunday roast and it was the best I have had in London. I would say it is pricey but you go get the amount you have paid for. The gravy served alongside the roast is not really proportionate to the meal but it sure is made well and really taste. The desserts are great too. Not a difficult place to find and I would recommend getting a booking as tables do fill up quite quickly.
Fantastic service, fantastic food. A bit on the noisy side but that was due to a full restaurant of happy customers enjoying their Hawksmoor experience!
I was embarrassed to discover after I had left the restaurant that while I had been served 3 lamb tomahawks, my guest had only received two. Otherwise the food is excellent. The piped music was intrusive and unnecessary and made conversation difficult.
Very good dinner all round. Super friendly, smiley staff. Food was ace but it’s not cheap... a bit of a ‘treat’ restaurant.
Loved the food, staff were all really friendly and service was super quick, definitely go back there as it’s never disappointed me, plus they do amazing steak, 10/10
Delicious food, great service and cozy ambiance.
A bit pricy, but it's well worth it.
Hands down best steak in london
As always Hawksmoor never fail's to delight, and as a lunchtime treat on a saturday it's a refreshing break from the crazy crowds of Borough Market. As always the special cuts board is the best option to go for especially if they have any rare breed beef available, and the scallops for a starter exceptional.
Excellent service and food. Ambience very pleasant, restaurant in an old building.
Amazing food, and wine. The steak was expensive, but it was so nice, the cost didn't matter. The staff were friendly, it was my wifes birthday and I'd pre-advised them of this. They all said happy birthday and even provided a "Happy Birthday" dessert for us. A really nice evening, would recommend
Booking was accurate and we were promptly seated. Service was attentive and efficient. Best of all was the steaks. Perfectly done and well dry aged. Tender and tasty with a wonderful charcoal grilled skin. Simply perfect.
Fabulous food, great location and ambience, but pricey
If your looking for a treat this is the place been twice and loved it so much
The food is absolutely amazing it really is one of the best meals I have had
We did go for the more expensive steak but still the time before we had fillet and that was very very good.
Staff were very helpful and knowledgable
Cant speak highly enough of the place
Also try the smokey Pete's ginger brew it is amazing
Is quite expensive there is no doubt but the quality of steak is so good and you can’t possibly cook it at home
Amazing value for money!
The waiter was pleasant until he began pouring the wine to the brim and got a bit pushy
Our night at Hawksmoor was a lot of fun and food was absolutely delicious. Yes it’s pricey but honestly, we couldn’t fault them. Even the veggie option was excellent. Highly recommended.
I had left it a long time between visits. Hawksmoor Borough did not disappoint. Everything was perfect, from the drinks at the bar and chat with the bar staff to the food and wine. Their attention to detail was simply amazing. My last visit had been nice but not great like every other occasion. This time they were great*** and we thank them for a memorable time. The porterhouse was the best and the Cinsault wine paired perfectly. A big thank you team!
Best food I’ve ever eaten in my 24 years of life. The fillet steak was so tender my knife went through it like butter, would definitely recommend.
Wonderful restaurant, great setting close to the Thames, food was outstanding
Excellent as usual.
