The food, especially steak, is what you come to Hawksmoor for. Cooked to perfection, great tasting and melt in your mouth. The services was friendly, professional (serving from the left, remove from the right. No leaning across with an armpit or chest in your face!), Not a venue for a casual impromptu lunch as the prices here lend themselves to either a special occasion, business expenses, or wanting a quality dining experience.
A part of our order was forgotten and was brought late at the table (some salads), I was expecting to not have to pay for them anymore or to get some kind of compensation for the mistake, but that was not the case. Anyway, overall experience was good, the steaks are always incredible and that's all that matters
Really great Sunday lunch. The desserts are also very delicious.
Staff were really nice and friendly and accommodating. Even though by I had mistakingly booked a set menu for the wrong time they made sure we still received that!
Great food and really lovely staff. We were tight for time, but they got all our food out promptly, the smoke salmon was delicious.
Steak was unfortunately under cooked. Whilst it was quickly resolved it wasn't necessary to reproduce the accompanying dishes, which seemed a way of glossing over the under cooked dish. Wines are very overpriced
Great restaurant. Bar staff were fantastic and the person who served us at the table was great. Helped us with a wine specialist to go with our main meal.
Lovely food and service. Felt it was slight overpriced especially including service charge(extra 35)
Pleasant evening with the better half. Service was a bit haphazard compared to other hawksmoors, but food as excellent as always and staff were incredibly friendly, if a bit scatty.
First visit to a Hawksmoor and will definitely be back.
My boyfriend and I have visited a couple of other branches of Hawksmoor and it's one of our favourite restaurants. It's not cheap but you pay more for great service and good quality food. Unfortunately we didn't feel the same about visiting the Borough branch on Sunday evening. I'd booked the meal for our 5 year anniversary together. When we initially arrived we stood and waited by the reception desk for someone to greet us. The staff and customers were dressed incredibly casually, the service was ok but nothing special and there were a few issues with the food. Overall we paid a lot of money but it didn't feel like we were going out for a 'special date'. Our waiter was polite but didn't make any friendly conversation, or even wish us a happy anniversary when we toasted it. One of the issues with the food was that my partner ordered a medium steak and it arrived fairly rare. In a decent steak house you don't expect them to get that wrong (it wasn't even on the border medium/medium rare) and we'd ordered lots of sides so he didn't want to send it back while everything else got cold. We weren't asked if we'd been before or told about the steaks you can order off the board - just little things we'd come to expect from Hawksmoor. For me it was like having a really good meal in your standard pub and paying a lot more money for it. We wouldn't go back to that branch. Worth visiting Seven Dials though.
I don't know anywhere else that does such good roast beef, gravy and bloody marys or that has such wonderful waiters. It is consistently good.
We had the Sunday beef roast. It was delicious, plentiful and great value for money. The dessert was equally as good.
Staff were very friendly and attentive.
We would recommend this restaurant to friends and would like to return when next in London.
Good food & wine. Surf & Turf was amazing and steak was done to perfection. Staff were attentive, friendly and engaging! Highly recommended for special occasions.
We thought that the almond tart with raspberry was excellent. Also loved the bone marrow !
Three of us dined. One had a too-tough-to-cut steak. Our complaint was well dealt with with a replacement steak (also tough) and eventual removal from the bill. What really made our evening was the explanation for the problem with the steak...
"Due to the hot weather the cattle become restless and this can affect the quality of the meat."
Priceless! We will certainly return.
Came for a dinner for 2 on a Monday when they do £5 corkage. as ever, the service was excellent and the food was really high quality. the price is expensive but you really know you are paying for top, top quality food & service.
I thought the steak was chewy. Not for the first time i was disappointed with borough hawksmore. Such a shame as all the other hawksmores are always so good..
The food was good value for money as we got a deal. The restaurant wasn’t as posh as I expected.
Sadly, nowhere near as good as we were led to expect. The service was fine but the food was ordinary, which is not what we had read. Hawksmoor has a good reputation so it might be this was a bad day for them or that this outpost is not as good as the others.
great place for an early dinner with friends They really looked after us - our main waiter Phillip was excellent We had a drink on the house as we were celebrating my birthday and the food was amazing off the Express Menu - 2 or 3 courses with three choices on each and they let us substitute some chicken as friends are particular Well worth it - will be back
Food great, service slow and missed items of the food order, slow to top up drinks and take drinks order, whilst staff were nice and pleasant their attention was more on the front of the restaurant
Outstanding as ever. Perfectly cooked steak, superb attention to detail, delicious cocktails - and they whipped up a perfect option for our vegan friend who was dining with us.
Had the Sunday Roast, was good but the beef could've been more hotter and portion size bigger.
Three of us had the Sunday roast. The beef was good but although the Yorkshire puddings looked impressive, it was quantity not quality. They were very dry. The roast potatoes and vegetables were average. We had three roast dinners, three glasses of wine and three desserts. The bill was 136 pounds. A ridiculous amount for an average Sunday roast.
Wonderful service team. We couldn't have been looked after better.
Great place to eat and great staff. Will recommend to others.
Visited for a late lunch food and service outstanding
Thank you will visit again have already recommended to friends
Great steak. Great service.
Having been to Hawksmoor at Spitalfields, and having friends in from the US, I decided that this would be the best to take them to show them how English cuisine had changed.
And to be fair that was still the case - we had bread and caesar salad to start and all picked different main meals, which did not disappoint. The sides that we had chosen were excellent (mushrooms, spinach and chips) and the shared sticky toffee pudding was apparently excellent....I was way too full for this.
The wine and cocktails were just as good. My friends had a bottle of red between them, while I had a couple of glasses of white. All very nice.
However the biggest let down was the service. Our main server was not particularly attentive and we had to keep asking for things rather than them coming over to ask if we needed anything. I know that this is a balancing act but it was super slow. And then when we wanted to pay our bill we literally couldn't find any wait staff. When we did it was not our original server, who we guess had finished for the evening. At that point we decided to ask for the optional 12.5% tip to be taken from our bill.
I will return to a Hawksmoor but perhaps not this one. They really just didn't seem that interested.
We were a family of 4 celebrating the end of my sons GCSEs - the waiter was a young chap and went out of his way to give us a very positive experience.
Food was great and table 81 - a little booth next to the wine store suited us perfectly.
Early deals are exceptional value for money. Good food service and ambience.
We'd been in Hawksmoor Air Street, and I'd been in the one in Commercial Street, so we knew that Borough should be okay, and it was, excellent steaks.
Great Steak and sides. Staff were brilliant...non pretentious, know their stuff and super friendly.
Food was slightly more expensive than I thought it’d be. But definitely not a deal breaker.
One of the best British beef steak restaurants in the UK. Sebastian’s service was fantastic!
We picked the restaurant based on what we read on the internet. We came across some raving reviews & decided to check out the menu. Picked the location based on the fact that it was in a more laidback neighborhood, which was what we were looking for. Food was good for an upscale steakhouse, our waitstaff was pleasant & informative about the menu. The atmosphere was definitely bustling. Wouldn't recommend it if you expect to have serious talks since you'd have to yell a little. But a great choice if u're looking for a lively ambience. Overall a good experience.
Great staff and service. Relaxed atmosphere. Top quality cocktails and food
Lovely Sunday roast and good starters selection. service not attentive enough and a little bit forgetful
Had the best time for my husband’s birthday, our server Fran was so knowledgable and nice. Really made the evening.
The service as usual was excellent and their food is amazing !
