Hawksmoor Borough Ratings and Reviews
My first visit to the Borough branch and i think this is the best Hawksmoor yet. Being short on time we had the express menu which is fantastic value for money. The particular highlights being the 35 day age Rump (an overlooked cut) and the stick toffee Sundae. We booked again on the way home.
I took my boyfriend for his birthday and we both left very happy. Our server was great, I didn’t catch her name but she was very attentive making sure we were ok. The food was superb as well as the cocktails. The ambience was fantastic. Classy meets casual as all staff made you feel welcome and comfortable. 100% would return.
We went for their famed Sunday lunch, and we we certainly not disapointed.
Hawksmoor have only been in their current premises next to Southwark Cathedral since February, and judging by our experience, it is well known. We went at 1230 and it was already half full, and by the time we left there were hardly any tables free. So booking is certainly advisable. E were greted on arrival, with our coats being hung up for us, and were immediately taken to our table. Menus swiftly brought and throughout the meal our glasses were filled and the staff we very attentive without being fawning or obsequious.
The rump lunch was enormous and exceedingly good. My husband was very disappointed that I managed to finish mine, as he was hoping to scavenge. Great flavours and the choice of how the beef should be cooked. We had ours 'pink .
It was also gratifying to see so many overseas tourists tucking into great British food.
Hawksmoor Borough was a delight from start to finish. A welcoming, relaxed ambience, great food and thoughtful service meant that our anniversary was truly special. Our steaks were perfectly cooked, and tasted simply divine! Wouldn't hestitate to recommend to anyone looking for a quality steak in London
We came here for our anniversary and we had both wanted to come to Hawksmoor for a while. We had heard great things and we were not disappointed. The cocktails and drinks were lovely whilst the food was absolutely delicious - some of the best steak we have had in London!!
Loved the ambience and the style of the restaurant - could not fault it!! Would really recommend to anyone who loves their meat!!
Undoubtedly the best Sunday Lunch in London. Excellent value, delicious food, great ambiance, excellent customer service. Re the latter, our waiter very kindly provided our glasses of wine on the house due to a previous booking being cancelled (they had a leak and had to rehouse us elsewhere). This was an excellent use of CRM and made us feel very well looked after. Couldnt fault it!
I booked the Hawksmoor at Borough Market for my anniversary with my partner after searching online for "best steak London 2017". From the moment we came in the door to the moment we left was nothing but an amazingly pleasant experience.
The decor was warm and the lighting had a low romantic glow. Our waiter Alex was lovely and personable, and was great at recommending drinks (I got to try an amazing sherry for dessert). The food was absolutely divine; the scallops and yorkshire pudding starters were to die for, and for mains we had the mashed potato, and beef dripping fries and a Chateaubriand steak which was more than enough to share between two. Cooked perfectly, but only slightly too salty in places.
I would absolutely come back for a special occasion where you're happy to spend a decent amount on food and drinks, and would definitely recommend Hawksmoor Borough for a special dinner.
Excellent buzzy atmosphere great bar staff and waiters. We went for the Sunday roast phenomenal and excellent quality and quantities too. The Oyster were delicious as well and not forgetting the chocholate rolos superb!!! Loved it would highly recommend and definitely can’t wait to go back.
Had an OUTSTANDING meal at the Hawksmoor Borough on Saturday evening. It was a special occasion and though I don't eat much red meat, I do occasionally if it is really good, and the other half loves it.
We both chose 2 exquisite starters, followed by 2 steaks and sides and were blown away by how delicious the meat was and quality of all ingredients to be honest.
Out of this world! All staff are absolutely lovely, not over bearing -- the perfect level of attentive.
We also were given a lovely surprise by way of a dessert. We will be back! It is quite expensive - esp if going for the pay per weight steaks, so will be looking out for the next special occasion as a reason to go back! Highly recommend.
