What Insiders Are Saying
The Borough branch of the upmarket Hawksmoor steak palaces is every bit as accomplished as its siblings.
Sunday lunch was amazing!!
Beautiful food, great table service with our waiter happy to take the time to explain the menu to us. Perfect evening x
Food, drinks and service were great. The decor is similar to other branches and much quieter than air street. Will be back again.
Brilliant service and delicious food.
Starters, fish mains and puds all excellent. But the steaks were disappointing. Asked for rare Porterhouse and it should come bleeding but while cooked correctly it was terribly dry, no flavour and had no texture. I guess it was the American-style of steak, like coloured, tasteless, mashed potato. Not right for the price.
It was the first time we were to the borough as normally go to seven dials. It was good but lacked the atmosphere that we normally enjoy. The service wasn't amazing, the waiter wasn't overly friendly and felt like we were told off when we had closed the menu while thinking of desert instead of leaving it open. This was for my husbands 50th and his favourite restaurant. sadly we wouldn't go back to that one.
As usual, top service and top food! Everything was on point!
Great service from waiter and the team. A dark, relaxed and friendly place with great ingredients treated well
The food was very tasty but overpriced for what it was. The service was slow & not as friendly & attentive as I would expect for the price.
One of our most favourite restaurant in London, will go back to Hawksmore time and time again, thank you.
I especially enjoyed the old fashioned with clarified butter for a treat with cheese and biscuits 👍🏻
Wonderful experience. Lovely restaurant and extremely courteous staff!
Great as always however one issue was bone found in gravy. Not a big issue and waitress/manager dealt with it perfectly. Offered deserts but we where full so when asking for the bill we where told the roast where the bone was found was taken off the bill. It was not though. A minor issue as food was excellent as always.
Great food and personal touches made our occasion lunch special.
The steak had a huge layer of fat which was near inedible. The food was in my opinion overpriced, especially with the quality taken in to account. I had let the restaurant know it was a special occasion, however, this was simply not recognised. No mention of it but we saw someone else receive a small dessert with a candle. The place lacked the ambience I would like when spending £50pp. I would recommend Guachos over here.
Single tables a little too close together to others but experience great otherwise
Table ready 20 minutes early- but waiting for others so stayed at Bar table and relaxed with a drink. Ordered staters and main. Wee were 5 of us. Potted beef came out with great size Yorkshire’s and others had the scallops, cooked just right.
Most of us had steak for main. 2 of us shared a 700g Chateaubriand which melted in our mouths. Cooked med rare. My son had a treat of surf and turf (fillet and lobster)
It was a busy night in there but we were well looked after. I’d recommend the food and the service. Second time here in the last 6 months and both times had a really good experience.
A bottle of wine and a couple of drinks each came to around £80 per head with two courses.
Wonderful meal, really enjoyed for our family's celebration. Highly recommended.
This is a wonderful restaurant, perfect for couples. Top rate food and the service was incredibly attentive.
Very pleased with the food ( meat) quality and the service. Wine was fab and so the ambience. Will definitely go back!
Good steak! A bit noisy in certain parts of the restaurant and the main meal sides on the small size. Otherwise a good choice.
Lovely restaurant, nice atmosphere and very good service. Highly recommended on a Monday evening for the reasonable corkage.
Outstanding attentive service and great food. Will be returning.
Great food as with most Hawksmoor locations. Service was quite poor, very slow and difficult to get the attention of any member of staff. Not the experience I've had at any other location
Great rump steaks, nice rendered fat. Crispy melted fries.
A little too salty in places. I would say reduce the salt by 50% in the main dish and you have a spot on winner.
But the food is as reliable as ever, and this is my 3rd time at Hawksmoor.
Had Sunday lunch here for son’s birthday. Excellent meal, Sunday Roast was particularly good. Service was very attentive. We’ll be back
Thanks again for a lovely experience - all the team are welcoming & helpful
Amazing, from the food to the service. They made our anniversary special. Excellent. We will be back
We had the set menu, it was great value and utterly delicious. Would highly recommend. Lovely friendly and attentive staff too.
Had lunch with a couple of friends and we did the two courses for £30. Excellent value for money, excellent food, staff were excellent. A bit of a theme, yes, everything was excellent. The Sangiovese wine we chose to accompany the steak was great too. Highly recommended 5 stars all around.
Excellent service, food was awesome and great wine
neither food nor service were at the highest level, the salad was the highlight
I hosted a business lunch here and found it to be perfect. The noise level was minimal, food and service was to high standard.
Food was fantastic - they have taken Lobster Mac and Cheese off the menu which is a shame but we found great replacements. Service was excellent. The only thing I didn't love was how close the tables are to each other - when the couple next to us were being served their drinks & food the server was (in as delicate a way of possible) knocking things off of ours to get passed. Its not a cheap night out so being packed in seems a little unnecessary
A restaurant that always delivers, went early, got served quite quickly - excellent Steak!
Fabulous as always. Leroy great on drinks. Other waiter not so attentive
Delicious food, excellent service. We came in for a birthday celebration and were placed on a lovely cosy table and were very well looked after.
Overall the experience was good but all of the food it very buttery and rich and if you are not used to this, you may suffer.
Everything about this meal was amazing, especially our waiter, Leroy! Credit goes to him for making out meal 10/10!
Great meal. Service and food both excellent. Would recommend!
This is my go to place for Sunday Roast, great food, atmosphere and energy
