A great way to spend sunday afternoon in a relaxed atmosphere with great food from a wide choice served by friendly staff at a relaxed pace never rushed to get you out for the next guest
Fantastic meal, great and knowledgable staff. Can't want for things to be back to normal so we can come back.
Superb visit. All staff were superb and in particular, a young lady from Greece. Very pleasant and most attentive. Thank you. We’ll be back.
£150 for lunch for 2- 1 drink & 1 glass of wine is too much, nothing on lunch menu we fancied
A great improvement on my last visit. Staff were attentive, food was quick and well cooked.
Value?? £100 drinks bill between two. not sure how we racked that up!
food - £100 between two - one steak and one fish dish.
I do hate where you have to order sides seperately. If you are serving a meal, I expect there to be some sides included - just a bug bear.
(prev visit, no chips.. steak too raw. offered a voucher for another meal which never arrived).
Fantastic building. Love coming here. The food is always first class, staff could eat be more attentive.
Thought the food was a bit slow to arrive, which has never happened before. Our table was booked for 5:30pm as we had tickets to a show. Whilst eating our desert I asked for the bill as we thought we might be late. We didn’t leave Hawksmoor until 7:10pm, with the show bring at 7:30pm.
First visit to Hawksmoor and will not be our last. The building itself is impressive and you enter through an ornate lobby area. We were well looked after from start to finish from all the staff but especially our server Lauren who was very knowledgable about where the ingredients came and advice on portion sizes. As it was my Birthday she even arranged a free cocktail and Rollo birthday suprise. The steak was possibly the best I've ever tasted and the sides were all delicious. It is quite an expensive restaurant but well worth it for a special occasion. Thanks Hawksmoor.
First class service and fantastic food, can highly reccemend
Fantastic menu, brilliant service and amazing cocktails. Loved it.
The set lunch/pre theatre menu offers reasonable choice and very good quality, with generous portion sizes. Wine list has extensive choice at mid price levels.
Great oyster & bone marrow starter and crab on toast. Terrific ribeye, cooked to perfection. Also excellent wine list and first class Sommelier.
Wonderful meal with my parents just over a week ago on byo monday. We were all extremely impressed. I haven’t been to Hawksmoor for too long and only one of the London ones - this was our first in Edinburgh and we loved every dish. Very high quality local ingredients, cooked beautifully and very efficient, friendly service. I took a special bottle of wine along and couldn’t have asked for a more splendid meal, setting and staff. Thinking of you all that closure has just been announced and we’ll be back as soon as you reopen. A class act. Thank you.
Excellent service, very professional and friendly. Early bird menu offers excellent value. Will definitely return.
Have been for Sunday roast before and thoroughly enjoyed it, however this time the meat was very tough. The waitress did change the meat for me, however it was still very tough and didn’t want to make a fuss as she was so lovely. My husband’s also thought the meat was tough and chewy.
Went for Sunday roast for a party of 4. The pork ribs, scallops and baked oysters starters were amazing. Roast beef with all the trimmings was well cooked and good value for money.
All in all a good meal out.
First visit to Hawksmoor and will be recommending to friends. Great service, amazing food (although quite expensive), lovely wine and overall really enjoyable evening.
Loved it!! We’ve been a few times now and always enjoy it! The service and warm welcome are second to none and the food and drink are outstanding. Big shout out to Daniel for looking after us so well.
Very good service, food and a quality wine list, albeit a bit more expensive than I expected. Happy to recommend to others
Had a lovely meal. Staff were lovely and made a fuss of my husband as it was his birthday. Food and menu excellent. Only thing I'd say is as a table of two it was very close to neighbouring tables so not very private.
High quality food and service.
Brilliant seafood and steaks.
The restaurant is in an old banking hall and the atmosphere is grand yet down to earth. With high ceilings and roomy tables. Perfect for a romantic date, business dinners or occasions.
Our waiter was VERY knowledgeable about the menu and wines. Service was prompt and attentive with a friendly approach from all staff.
Jamie looked after us. He was incredibly knowledgable about the menus and wine list, and if he didn’t know he went off to find out. The food was delicious, the wine list extensive and the service was superb. Thank you Jamie.
Fabulous food and staff - knowledgeable on the menu and wine. We’ll be back!
Definitely recommend the potted beef with gravy and Yorkshire pudding. Our waiter was fabulous and made some very “food knowledgeable” suggestions. Really pleasant and even romantic atmosphere for a nice meal out.
I recently had a meal here and although it wasn’t bad I felt that the value for money was poor. My partner was extremely disappointed as she ordered the chicken which came with no carbohydrates what so ever just chicken and a small amount of stuffing and the chicken just tasted plain and not not worth £14. Bit gutted as we thought that this would be amazing and felt that it fell short. The positive is that the staff members were excellent and kind just a shame the food didn’t live up to the expectations.
The food was amazing all freshly prepared very nice building with loads of character.
We had a table booked for 8.00pm our waiter was very attentive at the start of the meal suggesting wine and giving us some to sample it wasn’t to our taste but still a nice touch, we decided to get a carafe of white and red he bought us a glass of each wine and my husband had to remind him we had asked for a carafe he returned with this and put mine the white in a cooler, he topped up my glass once during our main course once the main course was finished he asked if we wanted dessert we wasn’t sure and he said he would leave us for a short while to let our dinner go down. He then never came back it felt like he was too interested in getting set up for the next day after about 20 minutes my husband had to call him over so we could order coffee this was brought to us by another waiter after finishing this it was very hard to get his attention so we could pay the bill we even joked at one point that we wondered if he would notice if we just left!!!
Food top notch . Great selection and flavour. Staff were friendly. Drinks were great
Love the vibe, service and food excellent
Starters of isle of mull scallops cooked tenderly in garlic butter melted in the mouth and Cesar salad were amazing . the Sunday roast beef looked amazing was very tasty ,the beef was tender but the vegetables and the roast potatoes were cold , sticky toffee Sunday was fantastic just enough to keep the sugar levels playing with your taste buds I was disappointed with my pink squirrel cocktail served in a tiny little glass 1 sip and it was gone but it was nice tasting
Hawksmoor is phenomenal. It defies categorisation. It is a brilliant steakhouse but just an average restaurant. Like a very good Parisienne Brasserie. The beef was outstanding. My oysters were as good as they can be. My wife had langoustine to start which were poor. Service pretty good. Place is huge and loses atmosphere as a result.
Excellent friendly service, great quality food and drinks, lovely Sunday atmosphere
Excellent steaks and choice of menu. Great service from the staff and recommendations too.
Food was excellent. Staff were outstanding. Would return and would recommend.
Great pre theatre dinner. The rump steak was outstanding and the potted beef very tasty.
Overpriced, small portions, slow service. Very noisy
The Express Menu is really good value for money. Great food, great atmosphere, great service. Would definitely recommend.
Delicious food and great staff!
Food as always was of a very high standard. My only complaints would be that service was a bit slow when we got our table - had a wait a while on our order to be taken. We were also sat next to the kitchen which was very bright and a bit noisy.
I had been expecting a free round of drinks given we had issues at the time of payment last time were were in, but there was no mention of this. hopefully next time!
Really enjoyed our meal at Hawksmoor Edinburgh. Service was excellent, Philip our server was fantastic! Great food and great drink. Will definitely be back! 😊
Excellent service, and staff could not be more polite and so willing to make the visit an experience that is second to none. Our second visit in 4 weeks, and a venue that we shall return to on every visit to the capital. The only establishment I know where the staff take time to have a civil conversation with you, and with no restriction on the length of time they converse. At 66 years of age and having travelled to various countries and venues on the globe, this is the best venue we have had the pleasure to visit and dine in. Food excellent, cleanliness excellent and ambience excellent. The management should be commended on such a brilliant establishment. Well done to Hawksmoor Edinburgh.
Fabulous Sunday evening meal 👍
We ordered the prime rib roast and it was cooked perfectly medium/ rare. All the trimmings were delicious too
