The food was ok, but I definitely expected better steak. I had a sirloin, so not the most expensive cut, but it was a little cold when it arrived and the dripping fries didn’t taste much more than just normal fries. The service was really good and the waiter was very nice and upbeat. We sat at the back of the restaurant and there was a horrific draft that, by the end of our meal, encouraged us to leave quite quickly rather than sticking around and having a few more drinks. The deserts were amazing - best apple pie and sticky toffee sundae! All in all, it was ok, but I would search for another place to eat over going back again.

Beautiful place with old wood and marble. Not the cheapest place but worth it as a treat. Very friendly, knowledgable staff. I'm a bit fussy but my steak was cooked exactly as I wanted it. Only downside was the temperature, the restaurant was very cold.

My fiancé and I went here for our seven year anniversary. We were a bit confused by the menu but we’re given all the help we needed from our kind waiter! We ordered some desserts after a delicious steak and sides main course, and were delighted when the staff surprised us with free champagne and a personalised message on each of the desserts! Would not hesitate to recommend, the staff are amazing and made us feel very special!!

Loved the sides and desserts were great. Steak was not the best cut considering the price and lacking atmosphere within the venue for a Saturday night. Could do with something on the walls/revised lighting and some softer music. Overall slightly disappointed given the price point - quite a few steak restaurants in Edinburgh with a better layout and overall experience. Wouldn't rush back in all honesty.

We had an amazing meal Served by incredibly friendly staff. The steaks were done to perfection. We had the early dining selection £25 for 2 courses or £28 for 3 courses. I had the Yorkshire pudding and potted meat starter and it was fantastic. We definitely will go back again especially for a special occasion

Full of families so would definitely not recommend for a quiet date night or couples’ celebration. The food was excellent but felt we paid for first-class food in the wrong atmosphere, so not worth the money. Our drinks order was forgotten and it was difficult to catch the attention of the waiters. Maybe we were seated in the wrong section? Dissapointing for a birthday meal.

Disappointing. I’d looked forward to visiting but I was rather disappointed. The food was ok, not bad but I’ve had better at the various other steak restaurants in Edinburgh. Not a massive cocktail selection and the service was slow with the waiter having to chase our drinks. Overall the atmosphere is cold, I don’t think you can be distracted from the fact it used to be a bank branch. The waiters we had were pleasant but who I assumed was the manager seemed a little pretentious which was off putting. There also isn’t an option on whether to leave a tip and the options given are just what percentage to leave. I won’t plan a return trip and wouldn’t recommend it either.

Very attentive and courteous staff, cocktails and main courses were lovely but we were disappointed with our desserts. The sticky toffee pudding was very treacly and in a pool of sauce. Too much. The pear dessert was also underwhelming and read better than it tasted. To be fair when we complained they were deducted from the bill
We also found the restaurant very noisy. It could do with some acoustic panels or fabrics to soften the noise.
We would return to this restaurant though.

I found the food to be lovely. The porterhouse steak was cooked to perfection. But I think that charging per 100grams works out to be expensive. For a steak to priced at £80 for something that would cost about £30 from a quality butcher. Especially when you still have to add accompaniments.

I also thought that I was being short changed with the drinks. Paying for a fresh orange and tonic was £4.75. Opening a small bottle of tonic and only receiving half the bottle. Also at £11.00 for a small glass of wine (175ml) was expensive in comparison to other similar establishments.

We had a lovely late lunch started with the beer and Yorkshire pudding and while the dish was really tasty the gravy was not warm so took a bit off the dish. We had fillet steaks and ribeye steak all cooked to perfection with mash and gravy so a really tasty meal. Again the mash could have been warmer but could not fault the steaks.

Very disappointing overall when compared with the London offerings. The food was ok, but the service was really (really) underwhelming and when you are leaving with a £200+ bill for 2 people you would reasonably expect good service. Atmosphere was sadly lacking as well, not as charming as some of the other buildings... probably won’t return.

Sunday lunch with friends before Christmas. Our party of 5 had a first class experience, enjoying great wines and fabuyfood everyone enjoyed their starters - my scallops were sublime- and we went on to share the Sunday roast, delicious.
Our wait staff were good fun and just the right level of involvement in making our overall experience great.
When they eventually had to take our table back- not that we were rushed- they recommended we move to the basement bar which is a great find and I will return again soon.
Thank you
