The food was very good. Definitely worth going back. The biggest disappointment was the lack of available steak cuts at 7:30 on a Friday. Over half of the “board” was crossed off. If you are getting excited to get a T Bone or Porterhouse, just be aware it might not be available.

It was my first night in Edinburgh with my family, we were celebrating my parents 37th anniversary. We had a wonderful evening with good food and service. Very well deserved to our server Sarah we went out of her way to make my parents feel celebrated, it truly was her attention to detail that made our night! Would recommend this resto to anyone visiting!

The optics and reputation was not our reality. On a positive note our server Max was very nice and good they chocolate tart was great the mushrooms were great. on a constructive critical note the steaks were supposed to be woodfired with crust on them they look like they came out of a skillet and had no crust really no great taste and we had three ribeyes and they all had gristle that we had to chew up and spit out The creamed spinach was chopped so fine it barely cream spinach. Bill was almost $500 US for four people there’s got to be lots better bargains for lots better food in Edinburgh. Disappointing

I am sorry to have to write this but our experience at the Hawksmoor was very poor. We came to Edinburgh from Aberdeen for the weekend and were recommended the Hawksmoor. we don't get away a lot as my husband is disabled. We came to the Hawksmoor on 8/9/24 @ 8PM my husband ordered a Rib-eye Steak and I ordered a Fillet and was told there were no more Fillets so I opted for the Chateabriand the waitress said its thicker so she would get the Chef to butterfly it which i agreed too she then came back to say they had found a fillet and I was happy to hear this we had to wait 45 minutes for our food when it came the Chef had butterflied the Fillet I am not a Chef but know you dont butterfly a Fillet it was like shoe leather I couldn't eat it and I was told it would be another 15 minutes so I said don't bother as it was now 10pm I had ordered a bottle of Pino Grigio to be told there was none but they had a sauvignon so i said that would be fine when the bill came I got another shock the wine was £68. We got a card from Sean Bailey who was very nice saying if we went back I would get a free Fillet Steak and get pampered but to be honest I don,t think we will be back after such a bad experience.

Recommended strongly by two sources and it did not disappoint. We had the monkfish which was outstanding. Sat in a booth and loved that setting. Highly recommend.

We ordered prime rib steak on the bone and was so tough. Couldn’t even cut with steak knife. We mentioned it to server but nothing was done about it and we were charged £100 for it.

While our dinner exceeded our expectations, we were disappointed that the "guaranteed Sunday roast available until 4:30" was sold out apparently long before our 4:00 reservation. We shared the Chateaubriand with Bernaise, Caesar salad, creamed spinach and Tunworth (cheesy) mash. All were excellent as was the peanut butter shortbread with salted caramel ice cream. Cannot say enough about the very attentive staff who took great care of us. Every person we came into contact with was friendly, warm and helpful. We couldn't imagine a better experience!
