The venue is amazing and there were certainly parts of our meal that were wow but some elements of it and the service let it down. I’ll start with the food: We had the roast and the beef WOW! So beautiful. The roasties however were so hard even with a sharp knife you struggled to cut them - we seen a few other diners having the same issue. For dessert I had the sticky toffee Sunday which was 5 star! The service: Great service at reception desk - took our case as we were just passing through Edinburgh. There were lots of staff - 3 to our small little area but they consistently had their backs to the diners. The drinks service was sooooo slow - nothing special ordered such as cocktails but on average we waited 15 mins for a drink - again despite it appearing to have 3 staff manning the bar. Every now and then what looked like a manager walked round with an iPad filling it in but showed no interest of interaction with guests. So over all we had a nice meal but I wouldn’t return as for the price the service let it down.

Atmosphere, meat and gravy were great. roast potatoes were disappointing and the yorkies burnt and very dry.

All about style - food okay but ludicrously over priced . 440 quid for 4 people with one bottle of wine and no dessert . Outrageous

If you are looking for top quality Steak Restaurant for a special occasion this is an excellent place to. Attentive staff great atmosphere . Central city centre location

Great service and food. Extra dessert and wine for birthday treat was really appreciated. Only low spot was a peppercorn sauce that was lacking in any flavour

We came for Saturday breakfast and left absolutely delighted. Our server was outstanding. Second visit to Edinburgh Hawksmoor and both times outstanding
