Great food! Recommended steak size possibly a bit too much but it was delicious.
Excellent service and relaxed atmosphere. All our steaks were cooked perfectly and good selection of sides and sauces.
A good start with starters and drinks let down by the steak of all things, over cooked and underseasoned. Service was fine; greeted politely but when a waiter stands on your foot twice and another knocks you in the back then to me it suggests too little room. The table was too small once food was served the plates were hanging over the table edge. Cocktails and wine we're fine but if you have to remind the waiter to bring the wine then it shows lack of attention. The restaurant is fine if you don't think it will be fine dining, but for me it's too similar to Miller and Carter, pack them in at the expense of a good atmosphere and a dining experience to remember
Fabulous all round experience from service to ambience and of course quality of the steaks - brilliant night
I took my fiancé here for his birthday. The food was amazing - best had in Edinburgh potentially - and the service was very good. It could sometimes be a little difficult to catch the attention of staff and the food took a little time to come out, however, we were warned of the latter. We were in no rush and enjoyed the lovely atmosphere and wine. A perfect place for a special occasion, but somewhat too expensive for us to return on a regular basis. It is nonetheless very much worth it, and we will be back, just maybe not until his next birthday!
It was a busy Saturday night when we visited Hawksmoor for pre-theatre dinner. There was a good atmosphere and staff were very attentive with both drinks and food.
The food was excellent value for money. Good selection available and portion sizes were very generous.
All in all, a great evening and will definitely be back next time we visit Edinburgh.
We booked for 2.30pm when I suspect there was a changeover in shifts. Whilst the staff assigned to our table were lovely, the service was dreadful and we had such a long wait for our food and I had to seek out staff twice to get menus for dessert and again to order. Unacceptable when the restaurant was only a quarter full.
The food was excellent with a good selection on the menu. The service was great and the staff were knowledgeable on the food when asked questions.
Wasnt cheap but thats just a small thing. Very good and will go back
Wonderfully friendly and welcoming
Good service and nice staff who are attentive. The food was good however they did not have the full
Family visit to Edinburgh for a birthday weekend. Hawksmoor was one of our meals out to celebrate.
Great Sunday roast and amazing cocktails! I would definitely recommend.
Food pretty good. Wine very overpriced. So, go for a nice Sunday lunch but we wanted to celebrate and had more than a bottle but less than two bottles. Bill for three people about 200 quid! Left bad taste.
Great place for an evening out with family, delicious food and a good wine recommendation
We had an excellent time at The Hawksmoor on Saturday 2nd November. The food was amazing and also the service. The staff were all so really nice to us and made us very welcome. We will definitely be back!
Amazing food and wonderful staff - even though they were super busy they still kept smiling!
Lunch was excellent- all 3 courses from the lunch menu were delicious, including a very tasty rump steak. Very comfortable relaxing environment and great staff- couldn’t fault anything about the whole experience. Would highly recommend and will definitely return soon.
The service and staff were faultless. Whilst the starters were very good (crab on toast, potted meat with Yorkshire’s, the mains, whilst cooked perfectly and with quality ingredients (rib eye with bearnaise, halibut and shared chips were frankly rather large (we did order the smallest portions) and frankly a bit boring. Whilst we know you have several outlets in major cities it is the first time we have tried Hawksmoor but unfortunately we felt like we were eating in an overpriced chain restaurant. We are used to eating in a wide range of places when travelling ranging from small independents with no particular accolade through to Michelin star establishments so whilst the price we paid was probably less than we paid two nights earlier at Cafe St Honore off Thistle Street I am sorry to say that we did not feel Hawksmoor to be good value for money whereas Cafe St Honore was simply outstanding value for money. Hawksmoor was OK but we expected better.
Although the food was good, it was quite expensive and for being a high end restaurant the staff were very casually dressed.
The food here was amazing, and the staff were so lovely and friendly, would definitely go back.
Great food and service. Tables a little close to one another. Sides are a little small but tasty. Definitely worth a visit.
Went for a birthday meal. They made a special dessert on request which was lovely.
After a great Sunday roast at the London venue we wanted to repeat the experience in Edinburg. Such a disappointment.
Despite arriving well before 17:00, after which no Sunday roast could be guaranteed, there were only 3 roasts left. After checking with the kitchen there were none left. Lamb was not available either, we were told it was seasonal, even though it was on the menu. Instead we were offered 1 kilo (!?) of meat with the roast-fixings at the same price. That also turned out to be wrong after checking with the kitchen and in the end we got steaks with fixings. Drinks were messed up and our waiter disappeared after our order. Such a disappointing dinner.
Excellent food and service. Would recommend for a special occasion.
Reasonable food but overpriced and very slow service
The overall experience was good and we will return.
I was very disappointed that we were moved off out table but not told until we were about to order desert. We finished our meal at the bar though there were plenty of empty tables whist we were sat at the bar.
We had a big spend and we were not wanting to be rushed or finish the meal in that way. We had 4 courses it would have been better if we were told ahead of time . We had only 2and a half hours at the table with another 45 mins at the bar.
The staff were great with knowledge enthusiasm and a great team spirit.
Fantastic lunch for my sons 16th - he likes a steak and ‘loved’ this one!
It was very very very yummy! Service was a little lacking at the end trying to get get the bill
Excellent evening at the restaurant, group of 9 work colleagues. Great feedback from everyone, steaks cooked to perfection. Danny our host looked after our group fantastically. Thank you
Amazing food, atmosphere and great sevice. Honestly the best meal myself and my partner have ever had. Kudos to the staff! Will return when back in Edinburgh
We had to wait at the entrance for a few minutes until someone came to show us to our reserved table. The take your own wine on a Monday worked well and the sommelier opened our wine and came back several times to top up our glasses. Two menus were given out then one taken away. We had to ask for steak knives when our meal arrived. The t bone steak had a lot of sinew. I have had better flavour from my steak in a competitor's restaurant.
Overall a lovely Restaraunt . We waited a long time for our food and when the meat came it was Luke warm . Shame otherwise it would have been great.
It was super. Great food and the staff member who served us was lovely. We felt super welcome and the steaks were ace!
Excellent meat, good service, and a cracking sticky toffee pudding!
Stunning. Amazing food, lovely venue, and complimentary cocktails due to a birthday celebration. Would not hesitate to recommend and will absolutely return. Fantastic.
We arrived and waited 1 hour for our food to come with no apology. The steaks were cooked well and sides good. The staff were relatively attentive and ambience good, although the music was far too loud. Our waitress didn’t say goodbye as we left. Overall an OK experience.
While the overall experience was positive, I felt the menu was overpriced and the side dishes limited. The staff were super.
We had the 3 course express menu - very tasty and value for money
Having been to a couple in London it was lovely to spend the evening in another great Hawksmoor. Thank you
