Recommended strongly by two sources and it did not disappoint. We had the monkfish which was outstanding. Sat in a booth and loved that setting. Highly recommend.

We ordered prime rib steak on the bone and was so tough. Couldn’t even cut with steak knife. We mentioned it to server but nothing was done about it and we were charged £100 for it.

While our dinner exceeded our expectations, we were disappointed that the "guaranteed Sunday roast available until 4:30" was sold out apparently long before our 4:00 reservation. We shared the Chateaubriand with Bernaise, Caesar salad, creamed spinach and Tunworth (cheesy) mash. All were excellent as was the peanut butter shortbread with salted caramel ice cream. Cannot say enough about the very attentive staff who took great care of us. Every person we came into contact with was friendly, warm and helpful. We couldn't imagine a better experience!

Great staff sooo friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Never felt rushed and seriously our waitress was the best. Great food cooked to perfection xxxx highly recomend

The rib-eye was delicious. Selection of sides including mash, gravy and mac & cheese were all very tasty. Highly recommemd the sticky toffee sundae

Hawksmoor has always been our go to when we go to Edinburgh, we adore it. Unfortunately last night just didn’t live up to our usual service, twice now we have had the same server and both times the service has been bad. The server wanted to keep calling me my darling which my husband and I found off putting to say the least, we waited 20 mins for our initial drinks to come. They sat on the bar for at least 10 of those minutes, I think the server just forgot. On our last visit a different server had been very accommodating of our child and providing smaller steak portions, this time we were told that wasn’t an option. The same when we asked for a smaller child’s portion for pudding, this was met with a firm no. When there is no child’s menu and they then won’t accommodate smaller portions it really puts us off going back. More mistakes came with our pudding order, our server repeatedly blaming the kitchen when actually one of his colleagues informed us he had actually put the wrong order in! Followed was more blaming of the kitchen while still calling me my darling! So sad to say but we will be looking for our new favourite place.

Delicious food with attentive, professional service in a beautiful space. The Saturday Brunch/Lunch menu offers incredible value. The steak I had was high quality meat, perfectly cooked. A faultless restaurant experience. It’s been a while since I have been and feel that partitioning off a section of the restaurant was a very wise move, creating a much warmer atmosphere in the main dining space.
