Excellent meat, good service, and a cracking sticky toffee pudding!
Stunning. Amazing food, lovely venue, and complimentary cocktails due to a birthday celebration. Would not hesitate to recommend and will absolutely return. Fantastic.
We arrived and waited 1 hour for our food to come with no apology. The steaks were cooked well and sides good. The staff were relatively attentive and ambience good, although the music was far too loud. Our waitress didn’t say goodbye as we left. Overall an OK experience.
While the overall experience was positive, I felt the menu was overpriced and the side dishes limited. The staff were super.
Having been to a couple in London it was lovely to spend the evening in another great Hawksmoor. Thank you
Hawksmoor was recommenced by a friend and we were not disappointed. A beautiful interesting restaurant with excellent food and waiting staff.
Gorgeous meal for our wedding anniversary - very special touches 👌💗
Second tome to Hawksmore . Very good service throughput meal. Tailed off slightly at the end of lunch service. Our waiter was very knowledgable about the menu.
I’ve dined at quite a few Hawksmoor restaurants and always been blown away, I arrived with very high hopes for this restaurant but it just never reached the heights of Manchester or London.
Food was good quality albeit the fries over salted, spinach far to much lemon.
Service was the issue. Got menus straight away and despite being quiet waited 15 minutes for a drinks order, food order taken at the same time. Food arrived and was as stated above but had to wait 20 minutes to have plates cleared, waited another 20 minutes for dessert with coffees and brandy, brandy order was wrong. Waited another 20 minutes for my bill. Not a busy night but off putting having to constantly try and make contact with a staff member for service
Having eaten in Hawksmoors London restaurants many times over the years I was really looking forward to trying out the Edinburgh venue however it was underwhelming on several levels . Service felt impersonal and robotic with going through the motions shown rather than genuine attention to detail and interest.
The meal itself was tasty and perfectly cooked which makes the front of house inadequacies even more glaring .
The report card would say could do much better .
We visited with friends from America who could not believe how amazing the setting was. They loved their steak, nothing like this taste in the US. The service was excellent with lots of knowledge about Coeliac safe dining.
Had a lovely meal, the food was incredible! Staff were lovely and helpful.
One of the best places I have been in Edinburgh. Staff were great and food was amazing. Really enjoyed the cocktails they had.
the food and the staff was amazing. highly recommend the sirloin steak or the Hawksmoor Burger
Our dining experience was very good. Our waitress very attentive. Food delicious.
Only hiccup was on arrival when receptionist couldn't find our booking and then thought we'd booked for three people.
I felt the food was fair however was disappointed how my steak was cooked. The wine was poor and poor value for money. We tasted 5 different red wines before settling on a Malbec which was overpriced.
We both had fillet steak which was excellent but service was rather slow
Over rated food and venue, a lot of better places with more authentic atmosphere in Edinburgh. A little bit dull and food uninspiring.
This restaurant is really cool inside. It's in an old bank so has massive high ceilings with marble on the walls. The waitress was a delight & very good at her job. The food was well cooked an delicious. I got the monkfish with a herb butter but found the butter too overpowering with thyme and rosemary. The steak, chips, new potatoes, buttered greens & the yorkie starter were all tasty!
I also enjoyed 3 of the Tropical Cobbler cocktails.
Nice decor and atmosphere. Nice staff however a long wait on food with no apology. Steak quality less than other premium steak restaurants in Edinburgh, so over priced. A shame as heard lots of good things about this restaurant and came out for a special meal.
Easily the best steak in Edinburgh
Food was very good but service me (very) slight room for improvement with the steak. Having said that, the attentive service that we received by our hostess and a few others was extremely good!!! Overall, very good. We would definitely come back for a repeat performance.
Brilliant service in a wonderful restaurant with a great atmosphere. Went for an evening meal with a friend after work and the quality of the food and service was outstanding would definitely recommend.
Food was excellent - best steak I've had.
The service started off really well but when we wanted a break between our main and pudding we were met with a terse response about a shift change in staff.
Overall though I would recommend due to the quality of food
Great place and steak was fantastic. Not quite the same range of special cuts as in London restaurants, but still enjoyable. Good wine list and the kids loved the burgers too.
Only downside was there was a part of the handrail missing on stairs up to the toilet and it cut my hand, which wasn’t ideal.
Food amazing, Service was good. Atmosphere beautiful such a stunning building
Having been to a couple of the Hawksmoor's in London i was excited to try the Edinburgh location with a couple of friends. The restaurant itself is beautiful with huge vaulted ceilings and more of a older traditional style than that ones in London. The food itself was really good as it always is....the problem was the length of time it took to come to us. We sat down in our seats at 8.45pm and received our food at almost 10.30pm. Waitress was very apologetic but said it was due to a large group coming in before us. Why is that our problem? Hawksmoor is an expensive restaurant, to which i don't mind paying for because we should have to worry about things like that. You pay for the service and the experience. I can get decent steak at many other cheaper places. We just felt let down and fed up by the time the food actually came out. We were offered some scampi and a cocktail on the house to ease our annoyance.....to which we stated our displeasure, and to be fair to Hawksmoor they ended up removing all food costs from the bill. Its a shame because it could have been.
Restaurant lovely , allergy advice from server not great . Allergy advice from senior server / kitchen was excellent . Waited an age for mains , very good mains well priced , sides tasty but overpriced .
Overall , enjoyed all but wasn’t as good an experience as expected .
We had a lovely night for our daughter's 21st birthday. The service was outstanding, I think the waitress was called Olivia, she was amazing. We will definitely be back.
Starters, perfect. Carpaccio recommendation. Steaks and burgers all round and cooked to request. Drinks reasonably priced for quality stop.
Had a lovely meal but couldn’t see some of the pricing I was charged £4.75 for orange juice £76 for a steak
My Porter house steak was not as good as the last time i was in.
Absolutely perfect, beautiful setting, fantastic staff and the fillet steak was the best I v ever eaten. Cannot recommend if enough Xx
Was an excellent meal with perfect service and great atmosphere
Lovely welcome when we arrived. Very lovely team of youngsters looking after us. Very efficient and all mucking in to make our experience good. Delicious food and ambience.
Great food and ambiance.
Dreadful service; not bringing food what we ordered. Staff seemed asleep and lost. Full of excuses. Poor staff. Wouldn’t go back if it was the last place on earth!!! Terrible experience. Next time they close for a refurb, don’t reopen.
Amazing! Had the best dinner with such incredible service.
Excellent meal, including a delicious steak - as might be expected - but plenty of choice for those who didn’t want red meat. Particularly impressed by the waiting staff who were very friendly, knowledgeable about the food and wine and comfortable in dealing with the allergy-related queries we had.
