With a great reputation for sustainability and ethics, the team continually source incredible produce from all corners of the country, whether it be hand-dived scallops from the Isle of Mull, 35-day aged grass-fed British beef, or rare locally-sourced whisky. A simple ethos of buying the best and preparing it simply means that most of the menu items come from exceptionally passionate, small-scale producers.
The restaurant holds space for 170 guests, including a beautiful, light-filled private dining room for 12. With intimate booths for the evening, sunny tables for two under the huge sky-lights, or seats near the kitchen pass next to all the action, Hawksmoor is the ideal spot to dine with colleagues and loved ones alike.

Monday – Friday 5:00-10:00
Bar open all day.
Steak was excellent however sauces and sides (no triple cooked chips available) were a let down. Peppercorn sauce was very thin and had a strange aniseed flavour which was quite unpleasant. Starter of Yorkshire puddings with potted beef were nice, although Yorkies were a bit over cooked. Staff uniforms were extremely casual and not what I felt was appropriate for such an establishment.
Disappointing evening went in a party of 6 inc my sister and her husband from the states. We waited nearly an hour an a half for main courses to arive we hadnt ordered starters! Restaurant handled it well when I queried waiting time and offered a free round of drinks and also picked up most of the drinks bill. Food was good but not outstanding. Staff all dressed in their own clothes and some looked a bit scruffy. No draught lager/beers available and small coke sized tins of lager costing £4.25! Wine list extensive but ot get a full bodied red in a steak restaurant a min charge of £40! Wont be going back not a disaster but not a great experience
It was my husbands and I first visit to Hawksmoor Edinburgh and it won’t be our last! Great experience from start to finish! Food was amazing, wine was delicious. Service from all the staff was perfect. Can’t recommend enough!
Phenomenal. We knew from the moment we were greeted at the door that the restaurant was special. The service was great, the steaks absolutely spectacular as well as the experience. We would come back to Edinburgh just to eat at this restaurant.
Everything about this place was superb just as we have come to expect of Hawksmoor restaurants.
Had an amazing meal, great value, rump and chips
For £15!! Took advantage of the wine club, corkage at £5 a bottle. Reception were fantastic and the bar man OUTSTANDING! You must go!
Couldn't fault the evening, staff welcoming and friendly.
Food was amazing, full of flavour and cooked beautifully.
First time there, definitely won’t be our last! The oysters were great but the steak has to be the best in Edinburgh. Perfectly seasoned and cooked beautifully: you’ll be hard pushed to find a better one. The gravy recommendation was a great shout, too. Thanks for a fab meal!
Despite stating one of our party was gluten free, they did not have any gluten free bread and had to send out for it. Still early days of opening and service not the same as London versions.
Second time there and second time food returned. Won’t go back. It was so bad that they cancelled the bill. The following day not very well. Happy to discuss but would definitely not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
An absolutely splendid location and decor, which is perfectly complimented by the sublime food.
The lighting is just perfect also.
However, by far the best aspect is the service. It was the best we've experienced in many years.
So personal and warm, so attentive and friendly. It really made us feel valued and just enhanced the entire experience. I can't compliment the staff enough for the way they made us feel special on our anniversary.
We are also given free cocktails because it was our anniversary and that was a beautiful touch. We left with great memories and are eager to return. We've already recommended the venue and my wife is a tour operator who has already recommended tourists to visit.
Thank you for a fantastic experience, it's a most welcome addition to the Edinburgh scene.
Stuart And Maike.
Brilliant food, first class service. This restaurant is a credit to the Hawksmoor chain. Cannot praise it highly enough.
Sadly are dinner started off not so well. We arrived to everyone staring outside due to a fire alarm going off. Service was good but the price off food was expensive to what we got. £18 for a bit of salmon and a few leaves and the salmon must of been coated in salt before cooking, so very salty.
It was also very dark with very poor lightning. I ended up leaving with a very sore eyes and a head ache. Ladies toilets were the same.
Was not the best experience.
Best steak ever
staff very knowledgable and friendly
Ondine watch out!
Food and service much better here and prices better too
So good we booked for our family Christmas night out
Amazing. Starter and dessert were great. Best steak in the world for main course!!!!!!!!!
Delicious Steak, good service and a very enjoyable evening. Thank you!
Best steakhouse I've ever been to. Great selection of sides which complement every bit of the main course.
First visit to the new hawksmoor in Edinburgh on Sunday and it did not disappoint. The standard Sunday lunch was sizeable - 2 very thick slices of beef, a huge Yorkshire pudding, buttered carrots, greens and roast potatoes topped off with unlimited gravy- being from the north of England unlimited gravy was a big deal! Tasted fantastic and at £20 thoroughly worth it. Can’t wait to go back
Simple and incredibly delicious - Great cocktails too.
Simply the nicest steak I’ve ever had. We were there in a party of 4 and everyone really enjoyed their meals. Great service too; we explained it was our first meal out since having a baby and the server knocked the price of one of her glasses of prosecco off the bill.
2 words (ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS) I could not fault the service or the food the food and service were to a very high standard
I thought all the front of house staff treated me with respect and the complementary glass of champagne was the cherry on the cake.
I will definitely be back, like I said (ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS).
Celebrated our 25th wedding. Staff was attentive. Had to wait a bit for the bill but was tended to by another staff member. We enjoyed monkfish and sirloin steaks. My husband really wanted prime rib but they only had sharing portions, so keep this in mind if you have your heart set on something specific. Would recommend this restaurant.
Great! Loved it!
Really impressed with the food and the service was great too. Nice touch acknowledging my birthday.
Food was really good but the only thing that let it down was the poor service. Started off well then we seem to get left. Dinner plates left on our table for far longer than needed, drinks forgotten and just generally slow.
Absolutely brilliant! Can’t wait to go back, the service and the food was all absolutely faultless. Fantastic choice of wines and we had the perfect date night.
Had a lovely meal and the food was outstanding! Lobster and scallops for starters, steak for main course was outstanding. Could not fault the food or service. Our only fault would be the staff uniform as there does not seem to be one for such a fine establishment. Brightly coloured trainers and casual clothing (some were smartly dressed) does not match the service and food provided. Nontheless we will definitely visit again but only on an occasion due to being a higher price point.
Service and food were excellent. Very nice touches with free glass of champagne and special anniversary dessert. Server was very knowledgeable about the dufferent cuts and advised very well. Cocktails were also fantastic.
It was a Saturday lunch after the festival and was relatively quiet which didn’t really bother us but a bit more activity would have added to the ambience in such a big room.
Will be back.
The service was excellent, and the food was mainly very good, although let down by one item that was in our opinion poor, although we did not complain at the time. Perhaps we should have done! It is too expensive for frequent visits, although special occasions might justify it, but we are not thinking of going back soon.
It’s nice but really expensive. Service was good but what I would expect for a restaurant of this standard. No kids portions or kids menu which bumps cost up even more!
Fantastic location with the look, feel and taste that makes Hawksmoor so good . Great service , food at least as good as the London venues and a full and extensive wine list . Great building showing off the brand in style. Fully recommend
Went for lunch with a friend. Ate off the fixed price menu. We both basically had the same meal and both of us enjoyed it. Well worth the £25 for 2 courses which left us more than full. Service was very good. Would happily go back and would recommend to others
The scampi was amazing, as were the sides and fillet steak. Only fault was that the steak was quite cold when it came out, and think that a steak sauce should be offered within the price or recommended at order.
Great food and service. The setting is very atmospheric. Will be back.
We accessed the restaurant via the hotel entrance as it easier with a wheelchair (and you get to view the amazing lobby)
Outstanding steak, yes it is pricey but worth every penny perfect for a special occasion
1.2kg ribeye tasty and delicious. Stuffs are lovely and helpful. Three person only spend 200 pounds with a bottle of amarone wine. Very reasonable price.
Fabulous food, service and atmosphere. Love the Hawksmoor.
Exceptional quality steak and great cocktails, the sticky toffee pudding also got rave reviews from my fellow diners - no idea how they had room for that! Highly recommend especially for a special occasion!
Just go and see for yourself you won’t be disappointed
