Old-world charm, culinary innovation, and hyper-local produce...The Healesville Hotel in the heart of the Yarra Valley is always in tune with the seasons, making it a year-round fave for locals and tourists on the winery trail. Beyond the Edwardian building itself, the restaurant is a stunner when it comes to rustic and honest cooking.
While there’s traditional pub fare on offer in addition to some fancier dishes like roasted wandin quail and slow roasted berkshire pork. The menu rotates weekly, though you can count on just-plucked-from-the-garden herbs and produce making an appearance. Treat yourself to a hospitable and heavenly lunch or dinner at Healesville Hotel, it will be a dining experience to remember.
Service was very good. Entrees were outstanding. The main course offerings were not as good as the entrees.
Red meat was fabulous!
Chicken was average and it just wasn't special, as in appealing in any way.
The cheeseburger was delicious.
The gnocchi was terrible.
Service was meh....
No bread, and the olives seemed to be years old.
We were all thoroughly impressed with our food and the service staff were professional and dutiful. The only issue we had was out of a party of 5...one persons meal came out 10 minutes later than all of the rest-not a major issue.
We had 11 people and it was magnificent
All 11 rated excellent
Absolutely fantastic. I have coeliac disease and gluten free is imperative. They were helpful, understanding and ensured my food was GF. We all had a wonderful long lunch in the beautiful restaurant. Sincerest thanks.
Great spot, fantastic food - very generous servings and nice local produce. Highly recommended!
A return visit to HH for me. Have been a few times now and was as enjoyable as ever.
Great place for groups to enjoy food and drinks inside or out. The gnocchi and cheeseburgers are amazing! Highly recommend.
This is a delightful restaurant with very good service, great locally sourced food, well presented surroundings and relatively quiet atmosphere. It’s not too crowded - seating well separated.
Friends I have already told to go and I’ll be coming back with family for special occasions
Thank you for the experience
I have eaten in the bar area before but this was the first time my friend and I had eaten in the restaurant and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Loved the ambience, the service was excellent and the food was fabulous. I will be more than happy to revisit
Great value for a Saturday night, beats the long trek into the city for a meal. Food , wine and service was first class and I highly recommend the hotel. Will be going back very soon.
Great BBQ in the beer garden on weekends. The Brisket was outstanding. Great vibe in the Beer Garden. Highly recommend.
Delicious food, amazing service.. the only negative is that the food came out at strange times. Half of the table had almost finished their mains before the other half even received theirs, we had all almost finished before the sides came out.
Great dinner, 3rd visit and never been disappointed.
Nice food and good service, but they appeared to be unprepared for the number of customers as staff were over worked and the kitchen ran out of a number of menu items.
On Sunday, you had run out of Prawns, beef brisket and chicken- all of which were our first choice.
Brilliant food, great service. Can’t go wrong. I really enjoyed the drinks list, many great gins to choose from.
The food was expensive, the lamb was nice but the farro was not a good choice for the dish.
The service very average. Nobody refill our water. Only one person on the floor!
The gnocchi dish was not substantial for a main.
$237.00 for 5 people : we shared a starter and had a bottle of wine.
The menu was exceptional. All courses were absolutely fantastic. Great ambience and very good service. It never disappoints.
Beautiful hotel wonderful service very limited menu if you don't eat meat. Very little choice of side dishes and entrees.
We have been to this venue a few times and I took some people from QLD there for the first time and they were very happy with the meal
The food was great - the wagyu beef was phenomenal and the sides were great. The portions were huge and I think a family of four could have had what was recommended for the two of us. The servers needed a bit more training but seemed nice enough. Wine was disappointing and had an odd taste to it - I think they may put a chemical in it when closing the bottles maybe? The food was so good it tops it all to make for a great meal. We'll be back but likely with lower expectations.
Hard to recommend this hotel when there were 4 people dining, 3 received their meals (after an hour) and the 4th one didn’t, (it was fish). We had nearly finished our meal when his finally arrived, and unfortunately he had to leave early as he had another appointment, in other words he had to eat and run. We were very disappointed as we were looking to our meal after viewing the Archibald’s at Tarra Warra.
It was all good, I couldn’t fault anything. Pretty classy for Healesville. The servings are a good size, sometimes at these prices they are small. We ordered too much then couldn’t eat it all which was a shame as the pork belly and corned lamb was delicious.
Great people and service with excellent food.
It was a great experience for my family and friends
Awesome food, but you are paying for it. Check out the menu and expect every dish to exceed expectations.
Food is fresh and delicious. Wine list extensive and varied
Quite simply, if you dine here and are disappointed, your taste buds must be dead.
Everything is perfectly balanced, portions not too large, great staff, and styled beautifully.
There is something here for everyone!
We love dining here.
Whilst the atmosphere, service (apart from one mishap) was great, we were disappointed that the menu had drastically changed from what was online, as one of my colleagues is quite a fussy eater, and was unhappy with the remaining options. In addition, we had noted upon booking that we were looking for the roast. Even though I booked well in advance, it was not until the day before arrival we were advised it was not available anymore as it has ceased. Again it's on the online menu still, and there was advertisements in the ladies bathroom another colleague advised. As the update was advised so late in the piece, we were unable to change plans as we had already booked transport to the lunch, and had arranged our day around the roast lunch. This was unfortunate.
So basically, service on the day great, before we arrived not so much.
I will say staff were lovely, food was nice, but nothing blew our minds, and were a bit disappointed with our starters. Mains were good, and the sides were good, but for the price we all noted that we had cheaper and tastier pub meals else where.
Lovely setting, and we will be back one day, as we all thought the food was good, but not amazing, and according to locals we meet later on, the food is normally above and beyond.
Lovely old building excellent table service good food
Overall very disappointing. Food was not great and it was difficult to get the staff's attention.
Great rustic food & feel. Local & seasonal produce. Great wine list. Happy to accommodate our 8 month old for a Wed lunch session.
Fabulous food! Charming service and a very reasonable bill at the end!
We ordered two dishes, the shank and the pork cutlet... which was recommended by other diners on Google reviews. Am sorry to say, it didnt taste good... at all. I am not sure if I just have the wrong taste palette, but these both dishes just didnt come across good. Perhaps other dishes taste better, I dont know but i dont think I'd come back. So sorry. Service was good though.
Cosy warm room. Family friendly. Delicious roast dinner. Gravy could be thicker and more depth in flavour. Excellent service.
Being as we are Healesville residents this is our ‘go to’ place for a celebration. It’s always friendly and welcoming and after 10 years I cannot fault one meal that we’ve enjoyed here. We love bringing our city friends here for a memorable meal and occasion.
food was great. we finished everything. it was a quiet day and we didn't wait long for our lunch to come. waitress was very courteous n pleasant and an ample parking at the back
A popular favourite of ours in the Yarra Valley - been going there for decades! Great place to stop on the way back to town from the snowfields. Cornbread was outstanding...
Thank you for the opportunity to comment. The food was over-priced and underwhelming. The meat was chewy, hard to cut and not well cooked. The combinations of flavours just didn't gell - curry sauce with lamb shanks was really odd. Barramundi did not taste fresh. For that price, I would have expected better.
