Excellent food and service! Would highly recommend their Sunday lunch menu.
Not my first visit to Heaneys but my first Sunday lunch and we will definitely go back.
Superb food and lovely atmosphere.
Perfect for my birthday celebrations.
We had a really lovely experience at Heaneys and, being relatively new to the area, we didn't really have any expectations about the food or the restaurant before we got there... but WHAT A PLACE! We couldn't fault it - amazing food, my partner said it was some of the best fish he'd ever eaten (and he's a huge foodie!). The service was excellent and the restaurant itself was beautifully decorated and had a really great atmosphere and ambiance. Great value for money and we will no doubt be back again soon!
Food was great.....service was a bit slow. Overall I would come again.
Great food, really high quality.
Nice and charm, very recomendable.
A truly fabulous dining experience. We had the special set lunch last Saturday and although very busy, the service and food was truly excellent and incredible value. Literally combing through the diary to make an excuse to come again. I was dining with my very particular french brother in law and I have never heard him rave so much. Thank you
Always enjoy the taster
If I were to criticize I find the wine expensive
We chose the chefs taster menu rather than having to choose from an amazing selection - though not big portions, there were so many courses that we felt we had a substantial meal by the end of it! Really delicious too, a good vibe, great service. Definitely would like to go back but more of an occasion meal as it’s such a treat
Really enjoyed our first visit to Heaney's in Cardiff, staff, food and ambience excellent. Will certainly return.
The only downside is parking near to the restauarant which can be difficult as most areas are reserved for permit holders.
Nonetheless, definitely worth a visit.
Amazing food in a relaxed atmosphere.
Food great if you like to share...and our party was happy to try and share. Food is precise, combining delicious flavours and textures. It is not cheap but the whole experience is special and you leave wanting to go back.
Superb dinner, attentive but not intrusive service, really good food
No mention of wanting table back after 2 hours, otherwise a very pleasant experience.
A rare treat - stretching culinary imagination and creativity - understated, subtle and refined
THE best taster menu meal we’ve ever had. Each course was faultless. We can’t wait to visit again. Thank you for making our Valentine’s Day so special.
Excellent service and food. Well worth the price. We had the tasting menu and LOVED most dishes.
Amazing restaurant! Food is stunning. Staff are great. Perfect dining experience
Excellent food and service. The staff really took care of us and made us feel welcomed. Really couldn't fault it. Thank you!
Amazing food, you must try the tasting menu.... it will blow your mind. Delicious, is not a good enough word to describe the meal. Thank you Heaneys for making my birthday special!!
A great place to lunch or dine. Service is fine for me , I like leisurely but not slow . Food is excellent but the wine list just a tad on the pricey side .Heaneys is a definite culinary experience as opposed to a straight forward and more ordinary restaurant with a couple of “pretentious gestures “ .
I really enjoy eating there .
The options for a vegetarian were poor (unimaginative) but otherwise it was a very enjoyable experience.
A really high quality Sunday lunch. However it is mystifying that there was NO vegetarian option at all. This was further compounded by a lot of the veg being cooked with meat and confusion among the (very friendly) staff about what could be done about this. Luckily friends ate fish, but accompaniments were confusing.
Sunday lunch for four was absolutely delicious each course had our taste buds jumping exactly how good food should be.
We had the taster menu and whilst the food was faultless, the portion sizes were far too small.
We were not told about the concept when we sat down as the staff seemed stretched on what obviously a busy night.
If we had been told that the portion sizes were what they were, we certainly would have had a rethink on what we ordered? The service was a little strained too as the dish explanations seemed to be quiet and mumbled from the very young staff.
The food quality and presentation was faultless but we felt the value for money for what we had was poor. We were really looking forward to our visit but left a little underwealmed?
To top it off, we were over charged on the bill which highlighted how stretched the servers were on the night.
While the concept was good, maybe they need to focus a little on the size of the portions?
W certainly wont be returning in a hurry if that was what we get for £100.
Our fifth visit and food as good as ever. Place was full to bursting, with a dozen patrons sitting at the bar awaiting free tables. Service a little slow due to being so busy.
Tasting menu for two people to share was £42 per diner and included beef tartar, hake with cauliflower, scallops and barbecued Irish lamb. All delish!
Amazing food and service! Would highly recommend
The food is always outstanding. Would highly recommend to all. The service was good but they were clearly under staffed on the day and we had to wait a long time for drinks etc.
Seriously good food ... lots of different textures and flavours .. fabulous , imaginative presentation.
Excellent service .. attentive but not overly
Only complaint is the sound ... very noisy when busy .. maybe could do with some more soft furnishings to absorb the sound
We will definitely be returning
Heaney can clearly cook. There some amazing flavours but the way food was served meant i would watch whilst my partner ate then she would watch me. It was weird. I suppose they wanted the meal to be a discussion but it was just annoying. The menu Was overly navel gazing, lots of competing flavours not necessarily complimentary. The lamb was incredible as was the crab risotto Where as the beef tartar was an abomination. The staff are humourless and whisper despite the loud grating music. Value wise it was a poor experience for a steep bill, however it has potential to be fantastic, perhaps we were just unlucky.
An absolute food journey. We had the taster menu and every dish brought a surprise. Razor clam ceviche and the lamb were outstanding. My favourite was the artichoke icecream desert. Incredible.
good food cooked well presented exceptionally well.venue great staff superb
We had the 10 course sharing tasting menu . The food was fabulous. The ambience was lovely and the staff were friendly and efficient. They new what food was coming and described it when it came. The chef Tommy Heaney signed our menu for us and came out to see us as it was an anniversary present a lovely personal touch. We very very impressed and will definitely eat there again.
This restaurant never fails to impress. As soon as I leave I can’t wait to go back! Amazing staff, incredible food. The only place to eat in Cardiff.
Best sunday lunch in cardiff. Excellent service and even better food.
Beautiful culinary experience but I have to say that the wine is very over priced
It was a special birthday celebration and the meal was superb! Two of the six members of our group were vegetarian and one also has to follow a GF diet. None of this was a problem and they were astounded by the quality and presentation of their dishes. We too were licking our lips long after each dish had been savoured! A gem of a restaurant with a really exciting menu! Abby was a superb waitress the whole evening and this made for a memorable night out. Can’t wait to have an excuse to eat here again!
Excellent food &wine. We had the shared tasting menu which was superb.Table booked for 6pm & we felt a little rushed to start with but this slowed down as the evening progressed.
Noise level was the biggest negative point. We left at 8.15 , certainly not a restaurant to go for a quiet meal.
I’m not convinced about Heany’s the food taste and quality was excellent but the concept of tapas at such high cost was too much. The waiting staff were outstanding. So overall the cost and concept of the offer was not for us.
Greeting very welcoming. Amazing food, Service was excellent. Will come back again. Highly recommended.
Really tasty food, excellent restaurant!
