Heights Cafe is a great neighborhood choice with reliably good cuisine; greta service and good value, both food and wine. The Bourbon Salmon is the best salmon dish you will find in Brooklyn. Waiters are routinely friendly and responsive. Good value wine list is alway appreciated (though two mid-range ~$50.00 caberbnet sauvignon choices were out of stock, the Sequoia Grave and the Beringer Knight's Valley, necessitating going up to the higher $70.00 price point for a Jordan). All-in-all this remains a top destination in the Heights.
I had the simply grilled salmon, cooked medium, with no potatos and extra veg. The salmon was perfectly cooked, as was the spinach, which was sauteed with garlic and EVOO. My nephew had their squid ink pasta special with mussels, calamari, and capers. He said his meal was also delicious. We were very glad we found the Heights Cafe. It was a bit of a walk from our hotel, but well worth it.
This is a fairly casual neighborhood restaurant with very good food and friendly, efficient service.
Heights Cafe is a nice go to restaurant in the area. It was lovely to be able to sit outside. However my son was on the clock and I mentioned that when I was seated but did not find that the waitstaff was as attentive as I would have appreciate that. The meal did take quite a while to arrive from the time I ordered. The food was good albeit a little pricey.
Waitress relied on bus boys after taking the order. Waitress was hard to find after dinner was served
Tolle Lage in Brooklyn Heights.
Excellent service and wonderful people on staff
The booth behind us was extremely loud and obnoxious. Other than that the food was good.
The accommodating friendly service was the best characteristic of this lunch experience. Undecided to order the lunch special. The mushroom barley soup was standard. The fried chicken sandwich could have been better. Although the toppings provided a nice balance to the thigh with texture, acidity, and a touch of sweetness, the chicken thigh was flavorless and the coating lacked crispness. Parts of the chicken were actually fatty. More attention is needed in the protein.
We spent New Years Eve there. Had an early dinner and it was to very nice. Balloons 🎈 hung from the ceiling, nice celebratory lights and good food and wine. It was a delightful 2-hour dinner.
My wife and I were pleased with our meals at the Heights. We have been there a number of times and the food was inconsistent. This time our and our guests meals were all good. We enjoy the ambiance, especially the outdoor summer eating. We'll definately be back.
We booked a reservation for Christmas eve. The food was good and the service was good. It generally was a nice dining experience. I would go again.
The server was very nice. The portions were great. My friend was actually annoyed that the servers kept on cleaning the table and taking things away, as if we were being rushed. I didn't mind it.
Good neighborhood gem. We’ve been thereafter work for department gatherings a few times. Food and service always very good.
A gem in a gem of a neighborhood. Very good service and friendly staff. Loved it
Everyone loved their meal. Perfect location, delicious food and all at a good price
Service was outstanding. Kept all our glasses of water full without having to ask. Very attentive. Food was excellent. Very accomodating. We ordered the Heights burger and it was cooked the way we liked it, medium rare and juicy to the bite. Shrimp Scampi pasta was cooked al dente with very fresh large shrimps. Penne with vodka sauce done perfectly. I think I just found a new local hot spot.. The HEIGHTS CAFE is highly recommended. Call ahead and make reservations. They are very busy. ENJOY!
We always enjoy our time at the Heights cafe.
Food is great, service wonderful.
Have taken NYC foodies here and all loved it.
Had a nice dinner with my girlfriends while visiting NYC. It was a slow night and we had three different servers as they were leaving and not telling us. Not super attentive but nice. Food was good.
It was a pleasant experience overall. Nice outdoor seating area for people-watching (although my wife and I ate indoors to get a break from the heat), good location close to the waterfront, nice food, good service. It was quiet inside in terms of the amount of occupied tables, but it was before 5pm on a Tuesday, so not exactly prime time. Menu has something for most people, prices aren't bad for Brooklyn, although a caesar salad (+ salmon), regular burger, and two sodas, came to about $50, which isn't inexpensive for a casual dinner. My only mark against the restaurant is that I was accused by OpenTable via email later in the evening of missing my reservation. "When you miss a reservation, it can adversely affect the restaurant. So we kindly ask that the next time you need a rain check, please do what you can to cancel the reservation." I arrived 15 minutes early and informed the hostess that I had made a reservation online. If they didn't check me in, that's on them, maybe check with me what happened before trying to make me feel guilty for inconveniencing the restaurant.
Nice menu, well prepared food. Attentive service .Just what we were looking for!
The food was terrible. My friends and I got the Mediterranean entree, a salmon burger, a salad with grilled shrimp and a chicken sandwich for dinner. Not only did they bring out the wrong salad but the food itself was average at best. The service was odd - our waitress wasn’t around and we had a busser who hovered around our table most of the night. Their cocktails are okay, but not worth the trip just for the cocktails. We won’t be returning. If you are considering this restaurant choose one of the many others Brooklyn has to offer. There’s a reason tables are always available.
The Heights was a good choice for dinner. The pre-fix menu had great options and the service was very good.
Great local “go to restaurant”. Food is consistently good. Love eating outside in warm weather and people watch.
We dine at The Heights each December when we visit New York. The food and service are good, and the ambiance provides a comfortable place to unwind at the end of the day.
We hadn't been here in years but the food was still very good. We shared the hummus platter as an appetizer and it was great. I had the "simply grilled salmon" and my husband had the fried chicken. We were both happy and would recommend them. We won't wait to go back again.
Great neighborhood restaurant. Noted for their burgers. Veg burger was excellent. To my surprise the cod special was amazing. Patio dining was a plus. Service was very good.
Food is always consistently good. Unfortunately , service is not. We. Had to ask at least 3 times for bread. And drinks.
Extremely long wait for our food. We waited almost 45 minutes the dinners.
The fish special, although very creative and tasty, was extremely small regarding the size of the fish. The service was excellent as usual.
Delicious dinner with an old friend. We dined outdoors at the sidewalk cafe, and it was really pleasant. My friend loved her trout and I enjoyed the fried chicken. Attentive service, great prices. No complaints.
I've been going to heights cafe for years, unfortunately the food quality has gone from great to mediocre. This is sad , because the ambiance, and staff are top notch.
Heights Café is our "go-to" place for a great meal anytime. The menu is great and whatever we order is wonderful. The Salad Nicoise is my particular favorite, but everything is always excellent.
Outdoor seating request accommodated. Food and service was great.
The waiter was attentive and the atmosphere was pleasant! The food was tasty!
Local neighborhood restaurant we wanted to try. Place was too noisy, staff not very attentive but were polite, poorly lit for such a large place and the food, other than specials, were mediocre tasting at best. All was expensive too but we knew that going in. Very disappointing experience.
Casual local spot on busy block. Good for groups. Generally no wait
Good food and service. Location on Montague St. in Bklyn Heights is close to the Promenade and not far from subways - especially 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or R.
Heights Cafe is a neighborhood staple. Food is reliably good as is the service.
Perfect atmosphere for a casual business gathering; Quiet enough to hold a conversation, not so quiet that you feel inhibited to do so. Food was great and offered options for an array of menu requirements. Will surely go again.
