Amazing food and very very very kind personnel!
It worth it.
excellent service with pleasant environment. Thanks for the birthday surprise as well as the wonderful birthday song! Overall, it is a very nice experience
I’m a big fan of Hide Above - it manages to find the perfect mix of excellent service delivered by a team with personality. I always thoroughly enjoy a selection of unique, brave wines delivered by Enrico. Congratulations on the star.
A very good service (sommelier!) with fabulous tasting menu
We were a little underwhelmed by our lunch at Hide. The restaurant is stunning and both service and food were very good but not outstanding. At that calibre and price we expect to be wowed and we walked away thinking it was only okay. The Baked Alaska was the stand-out dish and our sommelier was exceptionally good. There was one server who hovered a lot and asked us how each dish was after the first bite, which was irritating rather than helpful. These things are the difference between retaining a Michelin star and not, or gaining another one.
Second visit to the restaurant and it was again a good experience.
Very innovative. Earthy and fun. Great presentation. However beef was tough and service was not good. We should not have to ask for water or the bill more than two times.
Absoultely fabulous meal! The menu was exceptional and the service was great as always. Highly reccomend!
This was my third visit to Hide Above and it was again excellent. One small plus that makes the service stand out. As the main bottle of wine I had ordered had to be delivered in and not be available for 15 minutes, my guest and I were poured free of charge 2 healthy portions of the Chassagne Montrachet that I had ordered by the glass - a truly classy gesture which typifies this restaurant.
Amazing lunch, perfect service and amazing sommelier!!!!
Wonderful food, beautiful place, marvelous service. Really one of the best
A deep shame. Hide Above unfortunately must have hidden its best below stairs on Saturday night! Where table clothes and theatre have been replaced by a view of a road and a linking stair maybe we should be careful not to reference a motorway service station.
Now I am a self confessed fan of Yevgeny Chichvarkin, owner of Hide and fine wine emporium Hedonism Wines for his ambition, excellence and (despite its position) relative costing at Hedonism. Less can be said about Hide Above.
With some anticipation (after sampling Dabbous kitchen previously) I had waited six months so it was no longer a “new restaurant” and visited on Saturday with an equally appreciative diner as a companion. It disappointed.
Like so many Michelin restaurants in London and elsewhere it offers only a five course taster menu. The claims for this vary from “Michelin demand it” to a sitting is too expensive to allow diners to take one dish and dwell. Well St John, River Cafe and Locanda Locatelli all prove the mistruth in this and all deliver proper food a la carte.
Hide Above seeks to charge £115 for their theatre. If like me you don’t want to be at a standstill or be spoon fed someone’s idea of a menu don’t go here. Unlike restaurants like Marcus down the road if you stray they don’t accommodate you. Putting two eggs on Hay or two fillets of eel where there once was one or a whole pigeon or an oversized (and untrimmed) piece of fois gras where there was previously a half deconstructed composition is not A la carte - it is conceit. To charge 75£ for two of these bastardised dishes is beyond that. It places them in the realm of 3 Star. The cookery is unfortunately not a match for their ego. Unseasoned egg. Uncooked mushroom.?Sprinkled seed on spinach’?
The service was brasserie efficient. The wine dispatched at pub bar room speed.
And all of that before the bill. The bottom line - Eye watering!!.
I don’t want blocks of ice (Even if offered) I want good food. Sort it.
The rating that I have appointend was influenced by the fact that restaurant has a Michelin star. Thus, the service should be impeccable and the general impression should be positive. In my case sometimes the service was mediocre, for example a waitress served the tartare before cleaning up the table.
Although the staff is polite and ready to help, they do not obtain enough preparation to be at the level of a Michelin restaurant. They made several mistakes which lead to confusion and spoiled impression.
As for the main courses they are well worth trying, the rest of the set lunch was not new.
finally the custumer had no choice but to tip and I consider it to be tasteless.
Digital Wine list doesn’t work properly.. food is average...
It was really great and tasty
Spectacular food and very interesting wines. I will definitely return.
It was a really good experience.
We were sitting on the second floor with a great view table for 2. Unfortunatelly, we were said that we can order only tasting menu, but guests on the first floor peaple ordred meals from the basic menu. What should i think? Why i couldnt order from the basic menu? It is a question for me till now!
Love this place
Hide attempts to create new and interesting dishes, combining ingredients which one would normally not think of combining. It only partially works: for example the foie gras with spinach was misconceived, the spinach killed the flavour of the foie gras. Equally, the pickled mushroom was too strong a flavour to accompany the tuna tartar. The pigeon was excellent. The service was hardworking, they ran around being very busy. It was frankly a little obtrusive and, inevitably for a new restaurant, a little amateur.
Service was too in your face
This much-hyped restaurant lived up to expectations. The food was slightly unusual, but delicious and wonderfully surprising. We went for the £48 lunch menu, but it also included a number of amuse bouches and chocolates. Amazing selection of wines - over 6,000 in all - and at surprisingly reasonable prices. It is by no means cheap, but if you want a really good and exciting restaurant I would strongly recommend this one.
This was booked for a "between the years" celebration lunch and was outstanding. We had the tasting menu and accompanying wine flight and were not disappointed by the food or the service. Expensive but well worth it for a special occasion
A very good experience. The one vegetarian dish beetroot was superb, so if you're a vegetarian or vegan with elevated tastesyou might want to try their vegetarian tasting menu. The somellier was very skilled
Simply amazing. We could not have had a better time. Christmas Eve dinner in London with my two daughters ages 7 and 10. Even though my girls know how to behave in a fine dining restaurant, the staff was extremely warm and accommodating, and even invited the girls into the kitchen to meet the staff!!! Thank you Hide!
Exceptional on all levels, perfect atmosphere, wonderful service and divine food!
We wanted to spoil ourselves, so we chose to eat at Hide. I could not fault a single thing! Service, ambience, food, presentation - everything was equal parts surprising and delightful!
Everything was effortless in the restaurant from the first minute we walked in the door, to the little stand for our handbags, to the phone charger and WiFi dock in the tables (seriously!!) they have thought of everything!
Wait staff were super attentive but not over bearing or over the top! Really knowledgeable on all elements of the menu and wine list.
We had the tasting menu, and each course was delectable, perfect portion sizes and flavours were unreal! The Nest Egg dish was freaking awesome! But then again, so was everything else! Difficult to pick a favourite course...
The Hedonist Wine list was great - not that I needed to look at it as the waiter was quick to recommend suitable wines for our taste and the menu. She was spot on!
The perfect spot for a date night or anniversary if you want to spoil yourself or someone special. Great work Hide!!
I will definitely be back!
Quality of service was disappointing for a Michelin star. The noise level in the restaurant were high, we could not have a proper conversation. The food was average, good wine collection, desert was awesome.
We had a wonderful view over Green Park. The service was outstanding and sommelier was extremely helpful with very good wine knowledge in helping us choose the wine for each of our courses.
The food was well presented and very tasty indeed, but our wine was the shining star for our lunch.
The architecture is outstanding and the feeling is very organic. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.
Lunch was OK but not outstanding - main course in particular had too much fat.
Ollie Dabbous' eponymous debut restaurant was a tasting menu delight in Fitzrovia but Hide takes his cooking to a whole new level in an incredible setting overlooking Green Park. The basement bar is a real gem but the main dining room with floor to ceiling windows overlooking Piccadilly is a design sensation. We had the vegetarian tasting menu with wine pairings and the food was incredibly inventive and delicious. The waiting staff are equally phenomenal. This restaurant will end up with either two or three Michelin stars - it is that good. Perfect for a special occasion.
Loved this restaurant. We had lunch at Hide Above. The interior design is beautiful with and open and clean feel without being stark. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Food was tasty and interesting. Would definitely go again.
It was alright, bit disappointed to be honest. The food wasnt up to standard for the tasting menu. The desert was nice though.
Such a beautiful elegant restaurant. The food is innovative and simply delicious - in fact that does not describe it adequately - 'Superb' would be a better description. The staff are fantastic, attentive engaging and engaged. It was such a pleasure to be able to dine at the H I D E above, we are looking forward to planning our next visit.
Extremely positive and exciting experience, would 100% go again!
It was a wondeful evening with fantastic service and food with many surprises. We will definitely return soon and highly recommend this to our community.
Absolutely delicious - incredible flavours and enticing menu.
Delicious food combinations, amazing attention to detail and outstanding service
It was Great! Super! I will recommend Hide to my colleagues
It was good, but not great. The place is gorgeous. We were at Above level that suggests only tasting or set menus. Our waitress was very good, attentive and professional, but all overall team wasn’t so great as you anticipate. Our Amuse-bouchée empty plates were on the table till end of the first course and were taken were we finally asked to take it. Waitress that served cheeses was very angry and not welcomed, probably because the previous table asked more than 4 pieces of cheese. Finally when we coming to go out of restaurant, being provided with the coat with no possibility or place put our bags on something and get dressed. 4 ! people of the team started at us without any urge to provide some assistance, when one of them was by the door to open it. We definitely feel like being pushed out. May be those are small details but when you come to a Michelin star restaurant, you expect and usually get much better service. Food was Ok, but you don’t expect to get in the main course the same dish for vegetarian and not, that only difference if piece of meat. Overall, the are restaurants that can provide much better for the same price.
Excellent food (probably worthy of a second Michelin star), and absolutely outstanding service, particularly from our sommelier, who was informative, fun and generous. The tasting menu and classic wine pairing were faultless, and the space is beautiful yet relaxed and informal.
