The food was nice but I could pick a few small faults in each dish, for example the egg inside the scotch egg wasn’t really runny at all. I also feel the food has been v same(ish) for a number of years. The portion size is also too big and thus I reckon for most people trying to eat three courses would be a struggle/leave you feeling uncomfortable. I really want Hinnies to do well but it’s just fallen a bit short the last two times we’ve been there.
Great service and fabulous food. Highly recommend to everyone
We booked a table at Hinnies for a belated anniversary meal. We were so impressed with the food, service and character of the place. It may not be to everyone's taste but I had the calves liver which was amazing! The sticky toffee pudding is incredible too!
The food is always good. The tables are well spaced for the pandemic and also ensure privacy. A very pleasant place to spend the evening with friends.
The lemon sole was absolutely delicious. Really nice menu. I could have had so many of the dishes from it. Will definitely be returning .
Lovely lunch for my sister in laws birthday😊
Had the Pan Haggerty for the first time - will not be my last delicious
The seating outside is uncomfortable but no other complaints
We had a gift menu from last Christmas, and this was our first visit to Hinnies. The staff were lovely, friendly and efficient. The food was beautifully cooked with generous portions. The promenade and sea view are a bonus. Will definitely return.
Thank you Hinnies - delicious food, friendly, attentive staff and great value for money. Booking again soon
Great atmosphere and service. My guest loved it too!!!!
Lovely food but could have been served a little warmer and whilst I like a gap between courses this was just a bit too long, although I put that down to a busy restaurant and not enough people serving. Wouldn't stop us going again as we love the food and value provided.
Ambience and noise level, result of covid restrictions, thoroughly enjoyed our visit
Love their fish soup, it's divine. Food is good quality ingredients, always tasty and presented well.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal all of which was extremely well cooked and presented. The staff were friendly and attentive at what was a very busy evening for them. We have always found the service to be excellent and apologies always given for any delays when staff have been busy. It has always been worth any wait we have incurred as after all it is not a fast food venue but should be accepted as such and taken at a leisurely pace
Great fresh food with a menu that showcases a he beat the North East has to offer.
A “must-do” to visit at the coast.
Very pleasant place to eat at lunchtime for everyday or special occasion. Food well prepared and staff friendly. Convenient ticket car parking in side street nearby.
We have been going to Hinnies for about 4 years, about every three months. We usually love it and recommend it to friends. However, we brought a friend this time and for the first time ever the food was not up to it’s usual standard. My wife thought that as well as me and our guest remarked that her potatoes were hard and virtually inedible. Pity, because I really like this place and will give it the benefit of the doubt and book for our next trip to Whitley Bay in early August. Hopefully you will be sorted out by then.
A night out with my parents, their first experience of Hinnie's, and we all really enjoyed our food. Thank you.
Amazing value for the lunch special £19pp for 3 courses. Upgraded to rump steak for a £4pp supplement and it was cooked to perfection, the triple cooked chips and peppercorn sauce were awesome too. The service was friendly and attentive and they serve great cocktails - we’ll definitely be back. Thank you
Good food, reasonable price and great service. Location is lovely. Would recommend.
First evening out since lockdown. Have been here numerous times and also had their takeaways during lockdown . Always lovely food, good service and nice atmosphere.
Exceptional food, friendly staff, lovely decor and good value
Like this place alot,i know ill get lovely food ,, !!
Friendly staff, yummy food. Felt safe and clean... definitely will go back and next time will take advantage of their pre 7pm offer...
It was first time seeing parents since Feb 2020. So we were celebrating lots of missed birthdays, Christmas and Easter all rolled into one!
There were more people inside the restaurant than I was anticipating but it still felt safe with the one way system and masks/hand sanitisers etc.
Food and service amazing as always.
Lovely little restaurant overlooking the sea front at Whitley Bay. We have eaten there many times and have always been welcomed, eaten lovely food and enjoyed the experience.
Meal was tasty but could have been warmer. We did not raise this - we were hungry - so to be fair they did not have an opportunity to put it right.
Hence the 4 score for food.
Server was v good
Lovely 3 course lunch meal with fizz & a Blonde Ale.
Chilled atmosphere, friendly and attentive service with wonderful food.
A place, homely in its architecture, hospitable to its customers with the fine gastronomic dining experience with a cost-effective menu.
I enjoyed the dinner 🌸 though there should be an option to give gratuity while paying the bill contact less, because table service was outstanding.
Our first trip out after lockdown, celebrating a birthday and anniversary with friends. Could not have wished for a better experience! Service and food were both spot on - no signs of any kind of “rustiness” after the long hiatus. All dishes we chose were perfectly done, front of house were very attentive and accommodating. Absolutely faultless.
Outstanding food and great service from the lovely, welcoming staff.
Fish soup starter full of bones, steak contained a large amount of fat and gristle, tasteless sauce with too much butter too few herbs, plaice poorly filleted. Altogether very disappointing and not reflective of previous Sunday lunch experiences.
Very pleasant and very tasty. Lovely to be back eating inside a really nice space
Excellent British cuisine, brilliant service and nice chilled setting.
Great food, drinks & service but the outdoor area could use some heaters!
Thank you for the good customer service, there was a few things missed but they made you for it with a free dessert☺️
Lovely birthday meal provided with good service.
We were seated outside so entirely weather dependent.
Beautiful food and both waiters were absolutely lovely and couldn’t do enough for us. The area was also lovely and clean and well maintained.
We had a toddler with us and the activity pack they gave him was enough to entertain him while we relaxed and ate. The kids menu also went down a treat - real home cooked food rather than the processed food you get on a lot of kids menu.
The only reason I didn’t give five stars for everything was that it was pretty cold and windy so a heater would’ve been nice. But then it can’t be helped too much when the view looks out to sea and is amazing!
Loved it. Food and service great. Thanks very much
