Food was outstanding as was the location but the service was a little slow at times although it was very busy and there only seemed to be two waiting staff. Worth the money and would definitely return though.

Our first visit for a 70th birthday meal. Wonderful food, great local beers and a fab wine list! Great relaxed atmosphere and very clean! The staff were so friendly and even though it was very busy for a Thursday our every need was met! We will definitely be back!

Our group had lunch on Thursday at this little gem, the food was prepared and served quickly by friendly staff and brought back memories of food made at home when we were young boys, I particularly liked the singing hinnies. It is a little gem that I would visit again.

First visit for myself and husband. I booked a table in advance and we had a lovely table for two which was available as soon as we arrived. We took advantage of the early bird option (from 5.00 to 7.00) and had a fantastic three course meal for £18.00. The presentation and quality of the food was outstanding, so much so I raved about it to family and friends the day after and will continue to do so. My husband and I had a sharing platter for two which had roasted veg, mini falafels, flat bread, humus, olives, halloumi and salad. Lots of tasty morsels served on an wooden board. Very enjoyable. My husband had belly pork with peas pudding and I had a feta and spinach wellington with sweet potato mash and green veg. Food heaven for both of us. We debated about having pudding only as we needed to be elsewhere and not sure if we would have time. After asking the waiter how long it would take we happily ordered a pudding. Singing hinnies for me (first time I have ever had them) and banana cake with coconut ice cream for my husband. They were a wonderful end to an outstanding meal. The service was excellent and I look forward to returning.

Daughter an exiled Geordies living in USA visiting, I wanted a restraint which was traditional and different from the normal, certainly got that, a most pleasant and friendly place we loved the whole experience and she will take an unforgettable experience back with her.

The staff are super and friendly. The food is typical with a positive twist. Always a pleasant environment to dine. Price isn't always everything. The full package is a different quality. Very good.

Attractive restaurant with lovely atmosphere. Efficient and friendly service and not over the top. Was difficult to choose from the menu due to everything sounding great. In the end we did choose and thoroughly enjoyed every course - the steaks were exceptional and cooked perfectly. Parts of Whitley Bay are looking a little tired but Hinnies is a little gem on the seafront.

Nice restaurant, good value for money. Goats cheese and beetroot salad could have done with slightly more goats cheese, there was only a very small smear on the plate plus can’t remember any walnut on it. The fish pie was also very dry. However the pan fried cod with lentils was gorgeous.

Excellent as always. The Sunday lunch was delicious the veggie sharing board very tasty and lovely. I usually have the singing Hinnies which are gorgeous but tried the banana cake this time and found it tasty but a bit on the heavy side for me, my husband had his favourite sticky toffee pudding which he always says is the best he's ever had! Highly recommended. We had a lovely family birthday/Sunday lunch.

Service extremely slow. Very noisy not helped by the fact of screaming children who had mothers that did not know that children need toys to play and require attention. However the food was ok.

I sonlike hinnies but I liked it more before I went veggie, there isn't that much on the menu and nothing on the specials for a vegetarian.
We got the falafel and halloumi board to share but sadly the falafel looked processed and tasted bland. Plus there werent any olives - but that wasn't a big deal.

I for the veggie Wellington but I felt for the price it was mainly pastry and sweet potato, I barely tasted feta.
My boyfriends cod was lovely though and we enjoyed the wine and beer plus service is nice too.

Unfortunately the food was plain and tasteless Not up to your normal standards The pan haggerty was bland and only had potatoes in it,the roast dinners also lacked taste and seasoning The pork was dried up and there wasn’t a lot of it compared to when we last had it
The deserts were good however Not sure what’s changed ! We were disappointed 🙁

Special occasion with family visiting and didn’t want to say anything on the Friday evening to prevent embarrassment, only three issues, fish pie exceptionally bland prawns had a chlorinated taste and quite watery at the bottom. One lentil curry came out cold and three dips for the flatbreads looked like had been sitting out a good while. Love hinnies but know they can do better than this please taste the food before serving, service absolutely lovely other starters and coffee fab.
