Had a lovely evening in Hispi for my birthday.
Great food, great service . Couldn’t fault it. Would definitely recommend to my friends. I’ve eaten at Sticky Walnut in Chester on a few occasions - equally as good.

The service was excellent but unfortunately the main course was barely warm. The waitress offered to warm the food up but by then we had already started our dinner. The extra potatoes we ordered and gravy were piping hot which then highlighted how cold the main meal was. Such a shame as we are regulars and this has never happened before.

Always a pleasure and always changing. Hispi keeps things fresh, seasonal and creative all at great value. Staff are welcoming and knowledgeable. Wine and beer selection first class also.

Great meal at Hispi. Thoroughly recommend the feather blade steak, which was super tender and delicious. Great selection of wine and cocktails too. Fantastic value for the quality. Really light and lovely ambience.

Fantastic food; really high quality, great flavoured dishes at very reasonable prices. Our wine was lovely also & the waiting staff were attentive & knowledgeable about the menu; I would heartily recommend this restaurant!

Really lovely meal, good food and service in the heart of Didsbury. Starters were very good and featherblade main, thouroghly enjoyed the cheese board too. Not the cheapest meal but good value for a menu with some interesting and different dishes.

This was our second visit to Hispi and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal again. The quality of food is superb and the staff are friendly and attentive.we will be back.

Starter was excellent. Ordered the duck for main and it arrived criminally overdone in a sauce which managed to be both sickly sweet and eye wateringly vinegary. I advised the waitress, who was lovely, she said she would tell the chef but I wasn't offered any replacement or discount and ended up paying nearly £20 for the dish. Would expect much better from a meal which cost around £80 for two people.

An excellent little restaurant in the middle of east didsbury. Food was definitely some of the best in Manchester at a reasonable price. Portions are small due to the high quality of ingredients so maybe get some extra sides. Recommend for Sunday lunch

Perfectly good, with tasty food, but for that sort of price (£50pp without wine) I’d hope for some veggies on the plate, particularly when the table is too small for a side plate. Not my sort of ambiance for what was, ultimately, posh food. I wanted a bit more luxury in the experience to go with the tastes on the plate.

A great meal and every dish was very tasty! It was totally unexpected how good the food was and portion size was just enough for us. Enjoyed the dishes and definitely foodie worthy - the combination of flavours and textures made each dish very well balanced. Will definitely be back!

I’m still getting over this, my first visit to Hispi. I’d heard all the good reviews over the years, and am kicking myself for not heading across the Pennines sooner. What a place; wonderful staff (most notably for our table was the lovely Cat, who took care of us with cheerful, effortless ease) lovely convivial surroundings, and a menu that looked so tempting from top to bottom, it was a genuine struggle to choose what to have for dinner. The sourdough rye was some of the best bread I’ve ever eaten, and that’s saying something. It beats the Poilâne loaf I had years ago into a cocked hat. To start, I had the barbecued duck hearts on duck fat brioche, with a caper-loaded green sauce that cut through the richness like Sheffield steel. Incredible, meaty flavours, assured cooking of a difficult ingredient. The same care had been taken with an exemplary chicken liver paté and a mackerel-turnip dish with fresh seaweed and dill flavours. Our main courses followed suit, with a fine piece of cod cooked to utter perfection, a wonderfully rich and tasty vegetarian plate of roast cauliflower and butter bean mash and a mutton pie that will last long in the memory. Essentially a thin pastry cup filled with luscious, sticky braised mutton, in a pool of mushroom purée and accompanied by the simplest but most effective barbecued sprouting broccoli, this was another masterclass in simplicity and judgement. Rich but not overpowering, with only a couple of complementary flavours, it was just joyous. Not many plates of food make me smile like this did. And if that made me smile, the slice of custard tart I had for dessert made me laugh out loud. It was just so ridiculously good. I said on the night, and in hindsight I stand by this, that it was one of the best desserts I’d had in about 20 years. Crisp, perfect pastry, a custard that appeared to defy physics (it was so wobbly and creamy, but set perfectly) and just a whisper of nutmeg.

“We will be back” is somewhat of an understatement.
