Fantastic food and service.
Excellent food and service.
Didn't like the desert, Eccles cake, many blackcurrants and a lot of sugar. Rest was very good.
Lovely staff, really nice decor, food portions were huge (beef sunday lunch) will be back
Really great food, ambience of restaurant a little cold where we were sat (not physically) yet didn’t detract from food or service. Thank you, will be back and already recommended to my son who is in Didsbury in January
Beautiful food and great service
Very good and enjoyable. Would absolutely go again.
Went for lunch with my daughter. Very good with kids and excellent food. Great experience and would def recommend
Think was the sixth time we’ve eaten at Hispi and it just seems to get better every time. Fantastic food , staff and atmosphere. Worth it for the custard tart alone.
A fantastic, cosy place that delivers great food, and that has welcoming staff.
The service was superb from the staff that evening. They were friendly and accommodating.
The food was delicious, it is nice to see a menu that didn't offer everything under the sun. We did notice that the menu didn't include their custard tart so we asked and they had it so we obviously ordered it and didn't regret it.
Would definitely come again!
Fabulous food, every course was splendid. Would not hesitate to return. Thanks Hispi
Lovely roast dinner rare roast beef, crispy Yorkshire puddings and tasty gravy
On balance, yes, I would recommend Hispi, but not on a Sunday or at busy times. The best meals I've had there have been during the week. I think they struggle to cope when demand is high, and the bulk Sunday dinners tend to be overly salty and a bit overcooked. My wife and I also gawped at the menu which offered extra gravy for £1.50. You have to be kidding! Most places will just give you a bit more gravy for nothing. £1.50 is extortionate and unnecessary.
But during the week having a quiet lunch we've both found the food more carefully prepared and better value for money.
Service a bit slow. Charging for extra gravy is unnecessary
We are regulars here. On this occasion we had Sunday lunch and all of us found the gravy to be overly salty. It's really not neccessary to add so much salt if the stock is good. Also, charging guests for an extra little bit of gravy is pretty tight. Still, a reasonably good Sunday lunch.
Great service. All the courses were lovely food, only small critique would be that the sauce on the featherblade was a bit too rich. Would recommend for a nice meal with friends though.
Excellent food with wonderful service. Would highly recommend.
Lovely birthday dinner. Superb food
I went with my husband snd my son for a farewell dinner and it was as always excellent! We like everything at Hispi! The atmosphere and the interior are exactly what we like: a mix of casual and chic. The food is wonderful! The cauliflower as a starter and celeriac schnitzel as a main were very special. Big thank you to the team!
Great food and great service as always
Visited for the lunchtime menu. Delicious top quality food at a very reasonable price. Already planning my next visit!
I have been here twice now and cannot rate it high enough. The set lunchtime menu is amazing - fantastic freshly prepared, flavoursome food and the presentation is excellent. What really stands out here, though is the level of service - the team here really WANT to look after you. We will return!
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Hispi, lovely food, wine and company. Will definitely return.
Brilliant food and great service. Never fails to deliver.
First class from walking in, the service was exemplary throughout the meal, attentive but not bothersome, a perfect balance. The food (roast beef) was amazing - that gravy! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.
Exemplary bistro cooking from an always-reliable restaurant with wonderful, charming staff and a rare eye for detail. Menu-wise, solid gold classics rub shoulders with slightly more avant-garde dishes, all with terrific, tasty results, there's a sensibly short and intriguing wine list, and a lovely overall feeling of welcome and hospitality from the first bite of an exemplary sourdough to the last sip of coffee. All staff, from the maitre d' to our charming waitress, to the happy, waving chefs in the open kitchen, were wonderful and made a Sunday lunch with friends a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Worth the trip across the Pennines. We've been before, we'll go again. A delight.
4 of us One had complex dietary requirents Having given notice the restaurant not only put together a unique menu but they had it typed on a menu card Exceptional. All dishes very well presented . Wine selection interesting and modestly priced
All in all great place to go
The food was to die for and the service attentive. Will definitely be back for more
4th time in just over 6 months we have been to Hispi and every single time it ticks all the boxes. Fantastic food, excellent service, will no doubt be back again soon!
Delicious food, great service at a pretty decent price (think it’s good value for money!).
Think the overall ambience of the restaurant could be a cut above, to reflect the quality of the food. Would recommend and come again!
The environment was smart and modern (exposed brick walls, butler's sink etc. - although I'm not sure about having the sink in the dining area. When I go out, I want to be able to forget about the cooking and washing up The service was very courteous. It all felt a little 'serious' and not exactly buzzing. the dishes on the menu were very pricey, but looked very intriguing. However, when they arrived, the food was quite sparse and didn't feel complete. My main course definitely needed a side order to make it a proper meal. I never normally have side orders because I can"t usually manage that much food, but on this occasion, it looked as if only part of the main course was on the plate, and I was left feeling hungry. For that price, I would have expected something more special with more different elements on the plate.
At 4pm on a Sunday, the restaurant was full and you can see why, exceptional food and attentive staff, a real pleasure.
The Sunday lunch was delicious as was the choice of wines
The service was slower than I expected but the quality of the food is excellent. The serving staff are very professional. I think their sides could be larger.
We had such an awesome evening drinking delectable wine and heavenly food. Staff were super friendly and the whole evening was relaxed.
Lovely food. Good and imaginative vegetarian options - I'm a carnivore but the non-meat dishes looked so good I turned veggie for the night. Place was v busy but there were plenty of staff. I've been to Hispi a couple of times before - this was my best experience yet.
Memorable dishes, great quality food - no better in Didsbury.
We visited on a Sunday night. Very quiet, and oddly they sat a couple of groups who came later in the second room, so that we ate much of our meal alone in the first. They also didn't have any heating on and it was too cold - so the ambiance was very poor given the prices.
Starters were great, mains a little less so, and the dessert didn't work at all. Hard to imagine why we would return.
Fantastic as always, Hispi never fails to impress. Their roast dinners are superb and for £29 for 3 courses are great value for money. Staff friendly and attentive. I will be going back and would recommend anyone did.
