Great service, social distancing observed. Good service and friendly staff.
Quite nice, music and service could have been better.
Came here for brunch with couple of friends from London who were visiting
The food was lovely , the staff were friendly attentive and professional.
Nice atmosphere and good choices of food and drink . Will definitely recommend and go back !
First place I ate out since lockdown, temperature taken on entry. Staff were all very pleasant.
Very good espresso martini!!
I’ve been here before and unfortunately this experience was the best that it was last time, the waitress wasn’t very “happy” and the food was not the best, I’ve had better here before, it’s a shame as it could of just been a off day after being closed for months but it’s a shame it’s changed my view on this restaurant
Very poor food I was shocked at the quality presentation and taste
Great restaurant, great atmosphere, good service and food.
We visited on Saturday night and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier .
It’s hard opening after a shut down and I really feel they tried very hard under the circumstances despite some issues out of their control
Very comfortable and felt safe given the circumstances. Cake slice was a bit small though!!
Despite booking, there was no sign of it in the restaurant and I had to show the screenshot to the host for them to acknowledge that I had actually booked.
We was then “hot seated “ to a small dirty table that was not in anyway prepared.
The velour bench seat we was sitting on was dirty and stained. The food came very fast before the drinks, there was no cutlery and when we asked for a carafe of water with cucumber, it came with a huge smear of on the neck.
In my opinion this restaurant is starting to lose some of the appeal that it had when we first started using it and my partner was of a similar opinion . Shame really because I have told lots of people about it and it was a favourite venue for Sunday brunch with the family.
A couple of other things we noticed was the host had a huge grease stain on his shirt and there was cake all over the bar area and floor when we went to pay.
We always loved coming to Hixon Green but it’s panache seems to be becoming decisively jaded.
I was recommended to go to Hixon Green by a friend and I was not disappointed, the food was superb!
I love Hixon Green for its food, drinks, decor and location and have been her on many occasions.
The staff are lovely and really friendly but it's often hard to get their attention, maybe there just aren't enough of them.
On a few occasions when we have anted to order more drinks, we've just got the bill in the end because by the time we got someone to come over, we had to go.
Lovely place, lovely food, lovely people - just need to be a bit more attentive.
The food was excellent with original ideas expertly executed. The service was very good, attentive without pestering. As it is a new venture it was not particularly busy but hopefully that will change as more people find out about it. Like the idea of the separate cocktail bar section and may well go back there for drinks. Would definitely eat there again and have good wishes for its success.
Amazing food! My boyfriend and I were sat right by the window with a lovely space and great service!
Great brunch, really enjoyed it, child friendly to boot... Great stuff
I used to live in Hove and Hixon Green was my ‘go to’ place for amazing lunches but something major has changed in the past 12 months and I probably won’t return.
I just didn’t like it at all. Sorry guys.
Still a gorgeous place but I’m not close enough to warrant the journey into Hove.
My first visit based on a recommendation from a friend. Lovely decor, good choice of options for breakfast. Between us we tried the Hash bowl with chorizo, another with Halloumi and some pancakes with berries. All delicious and very filling. Staff were super friendly & welcoming :-)
Food quality of breakfast has gone downhill. Bacon was rubbery.
2 breakfasts with 3 drinks cost us 40 quid - seems overpriced for the quality we got
4 for brunch - would recommend. Great tastes, generous portions, relaxed vibe
Went for brunch , food was lovely . I had the full English, however I’m intolerant to egg so asked to swap the two eggs for extra mushrooms and tomato to be told they don’t do swaps and I would be charged extra instead. I have never had this from anywhere I have eaten, in fact when I ask for no egg I am always asked what I want instead. I heard two other tables with the same request told the same . Have to say I think it’s pretty disgraceful and the poor waiting staff were embarrassed having to impart this information. A swap for a cheaper item shouldn’t be rejected . Due to this and most items containing egg I doubt I will return which is a shame as I enjoyed eating there
Staff were lovely. Cocktails were great. Ambience very nice. Let down by the food. I had lamb, the meat was rather dry and overcooked, I could barely find the vegetables. Really a plate of mediocre meat. Nobody in our party of four had a good plate of food. Such a shame as everything else is fine.
We specifically went based on the fact that sharing plates were on the menu. When we were given our menus they were vastly reduced with no sharing plates. Rather disappointing!
A generally nice and relaxed place with good food and drink. Service was decent and unhurried - as it should be for Sunday brunch. It's good to get a table in the window to watch the world go by from.
Horrendous service, we were ignored and they didn’t give us food menus. And when we asked for a menu they said the kitchen was closed at 8:30 and that we couldn’t order any food!!
We will never recommend this restaurant.
Disgusting service !!!!
Lovely food. Good service. Quite busy so had a buz about the restaurant.
Had a lovely time with family, something for everyone on the menu and even vegan cake (not just sorbet!) Our waitress was fantastic.
The overall exerience was quite good, there were limited food options for lunch, not a full menu and even some of those were not available (at midday). Staff were atentive and friendly and the wine was exeptional. The food was decent if not outstanding. I would go again if we were given a better table!
Best brunch in Hove. Super dog friendly and just really friendly in general. Great veggie options too.
Always amazing service and food! Will be coming back again very soon x
Food was excellent and despite a small issue with a meal, they were helpful in rectifying the problem. Staff were also accommodating with my child as they offered a high chair and space for the stroller. Cakes were also delicious!
We thought the staff were charming and attentive.
We loved the venue which had a pleasant 'buzz'.
My wife's scrambled egg and smoked salmon was lovely, however, there were items of my full English were sereved cold. I appreciate we were a large table and the chiefs were trying to get the table served as one. It would have helped if it had been servered on a hot plate.
Lovely brunch menu which didn't disappoint when it arrived. Just a shame it took so long - an hour from sitting down to the whole table being served. Still we'd go back again and recommend to others.
I would highly recommend Hixon Green for informal dining. Good food and plenty of choice, including vegan. But book, even for lunch.
Food was very greasy - scrambled egg resembled an oily omelette & it came with 2 hairs - very disappointing. Coffee was good & the waitress was friendly. There are so many other places to eat in Brighton & Hove unfortunately I won’t be back.
The staff were lovely & made us feel very welcome. It was my friend's birthday & they made a nice gesture in offering her free cake. She felt very special!
We really enjoyed our evening, the staff were attentive and friendly. The food was good. I had the fish which was very good and my husband had a chicken dish, also very good. We would go back.
Always great to visit. Staff were very efficient, friendly and polite. Good overall experience
Always great food and great service! This is my local go to place ....and will be for some time yet!
Staff were very accommodating as usual and food excellent.
Only 2 minor complaints, I ordered the breakfast tea again and on both occasions my cup ended up full of tea leaves , maybe tea bags would work better . Also plates were served but no cutlery and had to ask .
Will still be back for more 😊
Lovely food. Great service. Highly recommended. Love the locally sourced food and presentation was nice
