Home Sweet Home - Great Northern
Food was fine unfortunately service was not great. Waiter looked like he’d rather be anywhere else and anything we asked him was a massive inconvenience!
Overall was ok. Service was a bit slow considering it wasn't busy. Drinks menu was limited for our group.
Food was great but the service was really bad. We were in the secret room and twice where brought the wrong drinks. When the food arrived it took 15 minutes between the first plate and the last plate so most people had finished before all the food was delivered.
Great atmosphere, lovely food, definitely recommend...!
Table of 6. Booked for brunch. Attentive waiter who explained breakfast menu was finishing soon but they could squeeze us in if we wanted. I’ve visited a few times. I recommend steak n eggs. Although pancakes looked gorgeous and my veggie friend enjoyed her full breakfast. All in all a fun place for brunch. Family friendly
Good value, unfortunately got our order wrong but corrected and our hot chicken were flavourless however everything else was good plus excellent cakes.
Service was pretty bad - food was sat under the heat lamp for over five minutes and it wasn’t busy.. I had to tell the waiter that our food had been sat there for a long time and he just said if it isn’t warm, we’ll make it again. Two chefs just stood there talking over the food..
Have been many times and usually it’s alright, but overall it was very bad and was only made better by having 30% off.
Table was booked for half 6, when served it took over 10 minutes each time a drink was ordered. We waited for over an hour for our mains and when enquired told it was another 15 minutes like we had been forgotten. Our main came at 8:05pm, one of our parties steak was stone cold and inedible, and due to delays over half the food was left as we had to leave so we could attend a show we were seeing at 8:30pm.
Highly recomended direction for breakfast and good atmosphere. Lovely
Visited last week on the eve of my birthday. The restaurant was busy, but severely understaffed. Young lad pretty much running the place and rushed off his feet. I really, really felt for him. We ordered starters and mains but had to leave before receiving the mains, as we'd already been in well over an hour waiting for nacho starters and other tables had walked who had waited even longer.
The server was really apologetic and would highly recommend him, but he was under too much pressure to man a large restaurant solely.
I absolutely wouldn't return.
Food was delicious and service fab. Arrived late but was no problem
Very friendly staff happy atmosphere, food was excellant very large portions had to get doggy bags home. We were a party of 5 including a 2 yr old and 9 month old who were made to feel welcome and ate off the kids menu food was fantastic and i will reccomend the chicken and waffles.
Upon arrival we were told that there was no chicken. This eliminated 85% of the menu, still we stayed as I had been previously and had enjoyed my meal. I got the steak, which I was never asked how I would like it, it arrived pretty much still beating, I didn't want to say anything to the waitress as I have been in that role before and there is nothing worse than someone who whinge about their food. I ate the chips and replacement cheese fries as they had ran out of mac n cheese balls. My partner had the burger which looked amazing, I wish I had chosen that now. After the food we asked for the cheque, waited about 20 minutes and then had to ask for it again as the waitress seemed to have forgotten us. This refunded me of the KFC fiasco when they ran out of chicken, I was gutted as I had raved about the basket of chicken all day.
We were a bit early to our reservation, so we grabbed drinks at the bar. The service there was great and the cocktails were good! But, once we had gotten our table and tried to order, the kitchen was out of everything. Apparently, an order hadn't come in so over half of the menu was unavailable. We received our food and the nachos that were ordered didn't have all of the toppings that were listed on the menu. Overall, it wasn't terrible but I don't plan on returning.
The waitress we had was lovely, helped with our enquiries and nothing was too much trouble for her. Very friendly staff and food was delicious, definitely recommend to family and friends
I have been several times and the food was always served warm , nice , juicy . But this time the burgers looked dry , didnt have much flavour , the cheese on our loaded fries looked abit dry and not melty/juicy .
The waiter and everyhing else was great.
Booked online, came early and was very well taken care of. Food was delicious and a great price, recommend the chicken cob sandwich and ultimate chicken and waffles. Overall awesome food and lovely staff!
Didnt catch the name of the guy who served us but he really was great ✌🏼
Food was average. Really enjoyed the fries but the burgers were disappointing. Was happy it had discount as i don’t think it’s worth the full price. The drinks were good value for money. The service was fast and friendly and we wasn’t checked if everything was okay too often which was good. The restaurant was clean and quiet. Overall was an enjoyable evening.
Lovely naughty food. Not for people on diets as large portions.
Fantastic food with amazing service! The cocktails were gorgeous and the staff were all super friendly and really made an effort. It's a very calm and comfortable place that we'll definitely be returning to soon
Our trip was okay but a bit disappointing overall.
There were 6 of us, including 2 children. From the order, it took over half an hour to get the food. We could see it sitting under the lamps for a decent while. When it arrived, the has was cold.
We didn't say anything as we were in a rush, so adding more time wasn't an option.
The place is really well spoken of, so I will be back, it was just a bit of a letdown.
Great food as ever all freshly cooked exactly how ordered and cakes to die fir
It's always nice and relaxed at Home Sweet Home. The staff are super friendly and the service is great. I'm never disappointed with the food here - especially the chicken and waffles! Would definitely recommend to anyone.
I went in for breakfast with my two small children and was really impressed with the quality of the food and the service. My daughter has a peanut allergy and when I informed the waitress she called the manager to the table who informed us in detail about the use of nuts in the kitchen and potential content of nuts in the ingredients. They also had children's cutlery on the table which was a nice touch. The only down side was that we had to wait quite a long time for our food. However, we will definitely come back.
It wasn’t very busy however took an extremely long time for drinks to be served after ordering, when drinks were brought they were wrong. Drinks then took extremely long again to be brought to the table. Gravy brought with food was cold and had to be sent back. Very poor service.
Food was amazing, and so filling. My partner ordered the Christmas pile up which was delicious and I had the Club California Burrito, which has a kick to it (hot sauce). The piggy chips were amazing with the bacon bacon mayo and the bacon rain. We’re definitely coming back to try some other things on the menu!
Great restaurant. Food was superb and service exceptional other than having to wait 20 mins for a couple of coffees we ordered. After chasing, they were delivered within five mins so good recovery really.
The food, service and ambience was overall very good. However, I was slightly disappointed at the fact I booked the table for a 21st Birthday meal however no arrangements were made regarding that. For example, singing happy birthday etc.
Random baked bean on the side of my plate that was not part of the dish
I’ve been to Home Sweet Home for breakfast before and really enjoyed it, so we decided to try there for an evening meal. There were 8 of us and when we arrived we were told we would be seated in the private dining area. We were happy with this as the room was behind a secret door and was quite exciting. The waiter took our drinks order and they were brought fairly quickly and the drinks were all nice, especially the cocktails. However it all went downhill from there. After making our order, the starters took quite a while to come, then the plates were sat in front of us for at least half an hour after we’d finished the course. We were booked in at half 7 and when it got to half past 9 we decided to go out the room and ask a waiter where our main meals were. Immediately after asking a few miraculously turned up, obvious they had been sat on the side and forgot about us. Half of us received our meals which were all stone cold. Not even edible, literally freezing cold. We waited for another waiter to turn up as the other half of our party didn’t have their meals, but it wasn’t for another 15 minutes until they actually arrived. At this point we’d all attempted to eat our cold meals as we were starving. By the time the other meals arrived we’d stopped eating. I advised the waiter about the horrendous food, to which she advised she would get the manager. The manager came, to who I explained about the complaints I had. Stone cold food, the time difference between to parties meals and also the ‘flat iron steak’ being brought blue rare (the waiter did not ask for a preference of how the lady in our party liked her steak cooked), and freezing cold. He tried to say everything had come fresh out the grill, which was blatantly not true. He went away advising he ‘would see what he could do’. Another hour went by, no plates has been moved and the manager did not return, I literally had to go out and find them! Not a good experience, which is a shame as we do like the place!
Poor catering for dairy free diner (told his allergy was the reason for a long delay on our food & also given gluten free bread, which was not required, as they made it an “allergy meal”).
Disorganised and chaotic. Service so slow and waiting area for tables non existent as they were experiencing a backlog. Food options limited and fast food dining still. Mediocre at best and better similar options nearby
I had booked a table for 12 people and when we arrived I didn’t expect for us to have our own private party room! We all had a fantastic time and the food was very good. Great drinks and very friendly staff made the experience even better and I’ll definitely be going again!
Great atmosphere and fabulous service
Food could've been warmer it wasn't as hot as it should've been
Brilliant food. Service was fabulous.
Just needed more of it, portion sizes could do with being bigger.
Food was really good, and the cocktails were lovely, only thing I could fault was the service, was told as we were seated that the food might take a little longer than normal as two big groups were in which was fine. But we ordered some drinks, and they took ages to arrive, and then as they arrived I asked for some tap water for the table and that just didn’t arrive at all during the entire meal. Other than the service the food was great
Took my daughter here after birthday cinema with friends. Easy to book. Little choice of drinks for 10yr olds. Ordered lemonade and were brought PINTS of it. Seriously? Nowhere to put our coats. Service was ok. But staff are young and not geared to children, sorry. Cakes are stupidly big and sickly and had to be taken home in boxes. Nothing healthy to write about. Wouldn’t go again if you paid me.
The afternoon tea was the best ive ever had! Cakes were lovely and the churros were amazing. The waiter, Jack was very friendly and efficicent. We will be back soon.
Disappointed that after messaging the GN
Facebook page 3 times I didn't get a response to my question.
The restaurant wasn't busy or buzzing anymore. The ambience at NQ is much better.
