Home Sweet Home - Northern Quarter
Food lovely and cute space but service was so so slow. The guy who seemed to be running the place looked mildly annoyed when ever we asked for food/drinks etc. We were kind of hidden away so that could be why they took so long to take and bring our order but the place wasn’t busy and the guy’s attitude made us feel like we were an inconvenience.
Slow service but good value for money
Friendly staff, no wait time for delicious food. Would definitely recommend and I will be going again!
Booked on a Sunday for 11.45 brunch, just as well as it was really busy, but people seemed willing to wait 20-30mins for a table, so must be good.
Didn’t get seated until 12 and then we just seemed to spend a lot of time waiting - for order to be taken and then 30 mins for food to arrive.
I chose full breakfast - great selection of food on the plate but not very hot. Disappointing.
Great food. Came back here after a bit of a disappointing meal a while back so was doubly impressed with the fabulous brunch. Delicious breakfast burrito, damn fine coffee and super service.
It was Sunday morning when i visited and the music was loud.
The service was good
But my son ordered a egg dish and it was like slop.
Came here for a Mother’s Day breakfast and wasn’t disappointed. Was met and seated at our table by Ella (Ella Eh Eh) who was really friendly and helpful through our visit. Food was quick and really tasty. Coffee was delicious. Looking forward to our next visit 👍🏻
Hey Gareth, Isn't she 'eh'-mazing! I'll pass on your lovely feedback and we will see you again very soon!
The food was amazing! Went for breakfast and we had butter chicken waffles, pancakes and a big breakfast. Cant fault food at all. Only thing that was slightly annoying was the random loud Hoover noise coming from upstairs but it only lasted 10 mins. Would defo go back and would recommend you book in advance so not to disappoint. Defo go for the breakfasts.
Hey Sadie, Glad you enjoyed your visit! I know the hoover noise is slightly annoying... but all it is, is the stick blender preparing some of our lovely sauces from our kitchen upstairs! See you again soon!
It was disappointing. I have had a good experience if Home Sweet Home but this one was stressful. We booked a table as we know how busy it can be especially at lunch time. We had 3 children with so knew it wouldn't be ideal having to wait around. When we arrived our table was still occupied. We were left to wait over 30mins for our table with no offer of a drink or nibbles. The children were obviously getting frustrated by that point so we got them some snacks. We were then told our table shouldn't be long, the people on the tabke knew we were waiting. We were still left to wait until we took it in to our own hands and politely explained the situation to the people on our table who had long paid their bill and were just sat chatting.
We were then finally seated and offered a drink each on the house but when the bill came the drinks were all charged to us. All places have an off day but this time it was poorly managed.
I'm so sorry that this happened to you on Sunday. I completely agree and can only apologise that you had to wait a while for your table. After offering the children some nibbles, I hope they felt a little better until you was sat. I can also assure you that your first round of drinks were removed from the bill by myself after taking your order. Your friends said they had a lovely time when leaving so I hope I rectified everything for you and I'm glad your party enjoyed the rest of their visit.
The gravy is out of this world, defo worth a return visit! And the rest of the food was so tasty. Next time we'll leave room for some of the delicious looking cakes
Hi MrsD, Thanks for leaving a review! Our gravy definitely is out of this world and so are our cakes! You really should try them next time! Thanks, Emily
The food and drinks in this place are great but the service was pretty off this time. We had booked a table but it wasn't ready when we arrived. Then is took over 15mins for anyone to come over and take our drinks order. The drinks arrived and then we tried to order food but we were told the manager needed to come and speak to us because one of the group had dietary requirements. 15mins later there was still no sign of the manager so we had to go and find him ourselves. I appreciate Sat night is busy but it shouldn't have taken over 40mins just to place an order.
My partner and I booked here as we had heard quite good things about it, however we were extremely dissatisfied. We were hurried to our seats and immediately rushed to order. Where we were sat was extremely cold and when we asked if there was any way that the area could be warmed up, they dismissed us. The staff were very unapproachable and unprofessional therefore we weren’t comfortable enough to query about anything. Especially when the food came it was over cooked and greasy. Due to this we had to sit in discomfort throughout our entire meal. No staff members came to check on us or the meals once we had received them or even throughout the course of our stay in the restaurant. Everything we had asked the waiters for, e.g. any maple syrup, they made it seem like the simple tasks were difficult chores and were quite rude about it. When we asked for the bill, the waitress rudely threw the paper on the table and just walked off. Once we placed the money ready to be collected she had walked past multiple times without collecting it and dismissed that we were ready to leave. We will not be returning unless major changes happen.
Very yummy, especially the Nutella toasted marshmallow shake, delicious
Visited HSH before and really enjoyed it. I chose a different dish on this occasion (eggs cali) which was a mistake as it was doused in sauce - not a positive unfortunately. I'd recommend to request less sauce or on the side.
Great food, they had sold out of one thing we ordered but were very helpful in helping us find an alternative
Food was fresh and tasty and the surroundings really nice
The service was excellent and staff very friendly. Food was also very good and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.
Great food in great ambiance x highly recommend this place .loved everything about it .
Great place! Nice ambience, delicious vegetarian and non veggie breakfast ☺️
It would have been nice to know that alcohol can only be served after 11, as it is offered on the breakfast menu which is served till 12. We still had a great time!
Amazing cakes and coffee, lovely surrounding and friendly staff
I had the nutella pancakes and they were absolutely to die for! So much so I have booked my sister and her boyfriend in for a date night and also myself for a catch up with a friend this week!
A friend recommended the restaurant to me and said the burgers are worth giving a go. They weren't wrong. Probably the best burger I've ever had - melt in your mouth stuff. The Chicken in a Basket was very good too and the homemade gravy is delicious. Go on, surprise yourself.
The food was really good, the staff were very helpful and friendly. A really good place to eat.
Loved the food and the cosy atmosphere. Great mug of tea too :-)
Usually Home Sweet Home has always been perfect for me and the better half. Food had always been amazing, same as the perfect drinks and speed of service. But our waitress we had for the hour and a bit we were there for just seemed so disinterested. Did not seem at all bothered about creating a unique experience, nor did she attempt to Upsell any items to us. Which is honestly a shame as the barman was a delight, quite chatty and was helping out as well. Glad he took the payment for our table to be honest he definitely saved the visit we had! Not the best visit this time, but will sto go back as the food has always been top notch and great value for how much you pay.
It was a great spot! Gets busy on a Saturday so I booked a table. The server and front of house ladies were lovely this time around. The food took some time coming but obviously I'd expect fresh food so I didn't mind. I come every weekend and I'm never disappointed.
Good service, good food and good experience all round.
Having eaten here for brunch many times and have always loved it ,decided to go for dinner but overall food was very disappointing. Would only go back for brunch .
Really disappointing visit. Portion sizes for the pulled pork pile up were tiny. Very expensive for what you now get. Used to love this place too.
Not enough staff, had to ask to take order, booked a table too. Food arrived before drinks.
We asked for a fried egg on toast and said we could not have it, yet we then ordered chicken waffles with came with a fried egg. We ordered at 11.20am and it took a long time to get out food, it arrived at 12pm... but the food was realy yummy and good value for money.
Friend came up from London and we had breakfast
Lovely food & setting for a catch up with friends!
The waffles with chicken and gravy were lovely! Other dishes we ordered included the pulled pork (which was completely overpriced!) and we were really disappointed with this, but the pancakes were lovely. Service was slow and we felt a bit unwanted, despite the restaurant not really being that busy. We wouldn’t rush back to go again.
Ordered milkshakes which came in warm glasses straight from the dishwasher.
Had to ask twice for cutlery whilst our food was in the table going cold.
Service was haphazard and disinterested. Door remained open for extended delivery on very cold day. Asked to close it but ignored. Music too loud to talk comfortably and no nod to birthday mention on booking request.
We love this place! It's still our favourite restaurant and we've been coming for years. It was super busy when we came but the waitress apologised for the delay in our food. Well worth the wai though. Such a good place to hang out and watch the world go by.
We didn’t get to eat here. Made a reservation, turned up and they had no record of our booking. Said it was very busy and they couldn’t fit us in. 2 really disappointed children as it was a treat for a special occasion.
Great service! Given our table early and the food came fast.
Food was Quite expensive for what you got. Drinks and cakes were good
Food was amazing. Although as we ate quite late (table was booked for 9pm), we had one great cocktail, and were then asked before our mains arrived if we wanted another drink as the bar was shutting, so we asked for another of the cocktail and were then told we couldn't have it because there was no ice.. seemed a bit silly to shut the bar with people still eating/waiting on food, maybe bookings should be stopped earlier if that's the case? Other than that the quality of the food and drink was great and good choice of background music.
Food was lovely. Unfortunately meal was let down my the many fruit flies we attempted to catch whilst eating/talking. Also didn't have many cocktail ingredients in stock but we were offered substitutions.
