Great food and venue. Something on the menu to please everyone and the dishes were very well presented. Will definitely be returning soon.

Disappointing and expensive. Very poor from start to finish. We had expected afternoon tea in the restaurant or perhaps out on the sun terrace, instead we were dumped in a dark corner of the reception area, sat awkwardly on sofas with a low coffee table making it very awkward to eat comfortably.
After a long wait, pots of tea arrived. We waited for a short while for the rest of the food but this was taking so long we drank the tea. By the time the food arrived, at least 20 minutes later, the tea was drunk and even with more hot water was now stewed.
My mood was not helped by the shocking piped Muzak - thankfully my mother is deaf.

It was nice to have been able to order a vegan afternoon tea and this was thoughtfully done. The standard tea that my mother was presented with, however, contained ONE smoked salmon finger sandwich. ONE. FINGER. There some other savoury nibbles but, i’m sorry, afternoon tea is finger sandwiches, plural. Really poor for the price. When my mother raised the fact there was only one sandwich the member of staff said “you’ve got other things to eat” I would suggest the correct response might have been - “Let me swap some of the other items for some more sandwiches”
Cakes were ok, scones were a bit dry.
Overall we were made to feel a bit of a nuisance.
On paying I was amazed to find an £8 service charge. My 90 year old mother was paying so I did not wish to make a fuss and upset her on her day out.
£58 for stewed tea, cramped seating, poor service, dry scones and one sandwich is an experience I hope never to repeat.

This was our first visit to the hotel and we had a reservation for lunch. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The food was excellent but we felt that £63 for two main courses, one pudding and drinks was slightly expensive. It was very quiet in the hotel dining room, only us and a couple of ladies, which meant there was not much atmosphere. Also there are renovation works going on which meant there were builders around which slightly detracted from the experience. The driveway from the carpark to the hotel was uneven and in need of resurfacing and as this was our first impression of the hotel it left a little to be desired. But we enjoyed ourselves and left having had a lovely lunch.

Sadly felt that service was slow, kept waiting too long between courses, food was delicious, but expensive for the portion sizes, it was a first visit, but wouldn't want to return

Great food and friendly service. Beautiful dining room looking out over the garden. The little home made breads are delicious. The only thing that was disappointing was the beetroot salad - looked unappetising and was rather bland .
Would definitely recommend a visit

Lovely host/front of house, all staff very friendly in fact. Food absolutely delicious. We had afternoon tea - scotch eggs were the best I have ever tasted! Scones perfectly crisp on the outside but fluffy and light on the inside. I've also had sunday lunch before which was also one of the best meals i've had, but it was a good few months ago now and the staff and ambience have dramatically improved since then. Marvellous. Kid friendly. Looking forward to returning.

I went to Homewood Restaurant for Mother's Day, we had a lovely lunch and the service was good.
The restaurant had quiet loud music which was not really necessary as the room was busy, and it would have been nice to have had table cloths. All in all we all enjoyed yourselfs, and the Mums were give chocolates on the way out which was a nice touch.

We were warmly welcomed on arrival and shown to our table which was clearly marked with our name. The service was prompt, efficient but friendly. We were delighted at the imaginative vegetarian choices on the menu as one of us is a vegetarian. It was good to enjoy our coffee at the end of the meal in the relaxing lounge. All in all a very good Mothering Sunday lunch and we will definitely be back.

Have eaten at Homewood Park many times over the past 15 years and were eager to see what the nw owners had done to the place.
The restaurant was sadly soulless and pretty sterile
Reasonably priced and the food was OK but won’t be back sadly

We booked a table in the restaurant on line. Always a "special occasion" venue, this was our first visit since the new owners took over, and on this occasion we were entertaining Russian guests. The were no signs of the work in progress reported by some visitors over the recent holidays. The facilities and ambiance are well suited to this up-market country restaurant. The dinner menu was short but with interesting non-meat dishes included. We had starters but not puddings. The welcome, service, food and wines were excellent and we all had a most enjoyable meal.

Poor service, which then takes the edge off everything, waited so long for someone to take a desert order than we had gone past it and decided not to bother. The same problem waiting for a drink in the bar area.
Perhaps not the best time to judge them just after the bustle of Christmas but service standards should not drop.

The food was good, the service was fine, but the overall experience wasn't what we'd expected (having previously been here many years ago). We'd asked in our Open Table booking for a table near the window, but that didn't happen - and the vacant table near the window we'd assumed was reserved for someone else remained vacant until we left, mid-afternoon. The room in which lunch is apparently usually served was out of action because it was being set up for a wedding the following day, but nothing seemed to happen in it while we were there (the door was open and we could see inside). The room we were in (usually used for afternoon teas) was fine, but nothing special. The original bill included an item we hadn't ordered, though this was corrected without any problem when we pointed it out. Overall the experience was fine - and the food was good - but a little disappointing: it felt like a city centre bistro rather than a country house hotel. Maybe the evening experience would be different, but I don't think we'll be returning to find out.

The menu looked deceptively simple but everything was absolutely delicious - it seems they use the very best produce - and looked gorgeous and really well presented. We had a wonderful three-course lunch for £24.50 and would definitely return.

Lovely setting, we sat outside and looked out over the garden whilst we ate afternoon tea. Afternoon tea was good, but nothing was explained so we didn’t know what the cakes were. The almond slice was very oily, tasted deep fried. Sandwiches were nice, again not explained. Good range of teas, and coffee was available too. Scones were lovely, and served warm.

First class country hotel, spa and restaurant.

Living close by, we dine quite regularly at Homewood park. Until the new chef came on board, the quality of the food and the menu had taken a bit of a dip. However, it is now first rate. The food is innovative, well prepare and presents and has great flavours. The set lunch represents excellent vale. The service throughout the hotel is improving all the time. It is a pleasure to go there, particularly in summer.

We live locally and have been visiting Homewood Park for about a year. The food took a dip when a previous chef departed. However, under the new chef, Michael Ball, the quality of the food had improved immensely. We ate Sunday lunch on this occasion. All the dishes that we selected were first class, had marvellous complex flavours and were beautifully presented. The The wine list is varied and reasonably priced. The service has also improved. Value for money is astounding and we would recommend the hotel to anyone, indeed do.

A good step above gastro pub dining, service was exemplary setting is every bit what you would expect. Plenty of space between tables to make it feel reasonably intimate. Food is typically minimal with puree dotted about etc, but oddly enough we didn't feel hungry after eating. I would say the portions were healthy size but servings like this need to have flavour and they did.
I tend to judge food on whether I can cook it to the same standard. No point in eating out something you cook better. I consider myself a competent cook and this was marginally better than my standard so scores there. With the surroundings and service thrown in, it's a worthwhile experience and mostly acceptable value. I doubt you would be disappointed if you have the cash to spend.

Sadly this restaurant did not live up to expectations. We arrived on time, however were showed to the bar without question. On intervention, we were seated. A waitress asked us whether we wanted water which only arrived on the 4th request. I ordered two glasses of the Tempranillo rose, but 2 glasses of white Prosecco arrived. The mistake was then rectified with reluctance. The menu was varied, but not at all inspired. We both ordered the cod main, which at £24.00 each had to be spectacular. It wasn't. It looked unappetising and was lukewarm, but tasted ok. I couldnt bear another course but the birthday gentleman suggested we share the cheeseboard. It looked amazing on arrival and tasted good, but lacked the local bread portion which the waiter neglected to inform us of. I made an inquiry and the matter was cleared up, but another lack of customer service and communication. Anyway, not the best dining experience and at £88 for two for 2 glasses of sparkling wine, one main course and one shared cheeseboard, it was highly unsatisfactory. Would not recommend.

The Homewood Park Hotel web site boasts "The best lunch in Bath", so my wife and I booked a table there for Sunday lunch. We were very disappointed with the whole experience. To begin with, the car park is quite a distance from the hotel and the foot paths are very uneven and my wife found them difficult to walk on. There was no "welcome" from the staff when we entered the hotel and, in our view, the management of the dining room, and indeed the hotel itself, needs urgent attention. For example, we were there specifically to enjoy a traditional Sunday Lunch, yet the people at the adjacent table ate sandwiches which were available from a Bar menu.
Our first course of soup was acceptable but the roast beef was a disaster. It was served very pink and it was extremely tough. My wife did not enjoy it. I ordered a dessert and a coffee only to find that the coffee was served 5 minutes before the dessert arrived. We have had better meals elsewhere and will not be going back to that hotel.

Garden room absolutely beautiful, couldn't fault it. Was a Sunday when we arrived so hotel pretty quiet.
Restaurant was lovely, food amazing, the only fault was that there was no background music so you could see people talking extra quietly. Music of course adds to the atmosphere so would have been a perfect evening with it!
Otherwise staff very polite, receptionists went out of there way to fill us in on info of rooms, hotel etc and their smile was extra special!
All in all had an amazing time

When my daughter and grandson visit, which is not often, we like to have a 'special' meal at a local restaurant, and this was not the first time we have visited Homewood Park. The restaurant is located not far from the door, which is good for my limited mobility, and the staff are usually helpful and pleasant. The restaurant is well laid out and the small number of tables meant that it was (as has been usual) very quiet. Not for us the 'babble' of a full and busy room!
The menu was limited but all dishes sounded attractive. The terrine starter was tasty, as was the salmon - although my grandson aged 12 was less than keen on the black sesame background to the dish.
The cod main course was excellent, and I don't think the lamb cutlets could have been bettered - nicely pink and beautifully cooked and presented. We would all have appreciated a little more on our plates, but have got used to the idea that the more exclusive the restaurant the less you get to eat.
The desserts - often an opportunity for the chef to let him/herself down - were delightful, especially my rhubarb dish which was superb, and we finished our meal with coffees.
The service was relaxed but extremely pleasant, but I wouldn't suggest going to Homewood Park if you are in a hurry. And don't expect a budget meal. All in all, a very pleasant experience if you want really fine dining. We shall return, and I would highly recommend the restaurant to others.
I should add that I have also taken business visitors there for a 'working lunch' and that has been very successful.
