Honey Badger is a wild to table restaurant, sourcing from several foragers from Maine through Pennsylvania, with a focus on sustainable harvesting. We take pride in using local organic produce and prepare almost everything in our dishes ourselves. We bake, pickle, brine, smoke, braise and ferment to showcase the best our local farmers and foragers have to offer.
Our menu changes daily! We always offer an abbreviated menu, a tasting menu, and an Omakase menu––a 10-13 course meal using all of our most limited and flashing foraged ingredients and wild game.

What a wonderful gem of a restaurant. Forget travelling around the world to Noma, we have a wonderful little place right here in Brooklyn dedicated to foraged and specially grown and raised food. Not all the dishes were perfect, but you could see the thoughtfulness behind each one. The no credit card policy was a surprise, so be prepared. Still, if you love food, you will definitely want to try this restaurant. We will be back!

No matter how great the food is- not worth price. Big mistake for dinner- spent my whole paycheck and was still hungry leaving. Would not have gone if I’d had any idea of cost. YIKES

Quite unlike any other dining experience. The creative combination of unusual wild and foraged foods introduced us to new flavors and taste sensations. Artistry in the food and its presentation made Honey Badger the perfect choice for a special occasion.

Upon first impression we saw a few couples having drinks and thought it might not be for full dinning but we got there pretty late- past 9:00pm. We are so glad we booked a reservation here. It was the coolest, tastiest, most interesting dinning we’ve ever experienced. I tried so many foods I’ve never had that I’m now obsessed with. It’s also really cool the local sustainability and food education they are creating. Service was excellent. This is an amazing place for a date or anniversary, or to bring people visiting from out of town. It felt like stepping into a food documentary on Netflix.

This is a remarkable Michelin-quality special occasion restaurant and relatively undiscovered. It is small and everything served has a backstory insofar as the ingredients are local and wild. Because there’s a kind of eco- idea behind the cuisine (local/wild) the dishes are sometimes surprising or curious, which makes for a refreshing and occasionally hilarious evening out.. The seasonal menu is either 5 course or 7 course. Everything is plated beautifully, even artfully, and some of the tastes were largely new. The dining experience takes over 2 hours or longer.. I was taken by everything about it--the artistry, inventiveness, intelligent commitment to their mission. Decor is chic rustic. Were it in Williamsburg it’d be packed. You’ll think differently about food after eating here. Cash only, not cheap. I know this is a rave so disclaimer- I have no connection whatsoever to the restaurant and am unfamiliar with this school of cooking, which I imagine is some kind of trend.

A ludicrously specific and esoteric concept that was poorly executed across 3 1/2 blisteringly hot and stuffy hours, in 5 tedious courses, each more underwhelming and poorly explained than the last. Also the $60/ person wine pairing could have been made less gruesome had the waitress instead just hit me over the head with the bottle of red blend table wine after she explained to us that the term “biodynamic” refers to the grapes being planted “like something to do with moon cycles, so it’s even higher than organic”— the one benefit of dining here however, is knowing I will never have to do it again.

These guys are the real deal. While some business go out of their way to brag about their "local" food (a term that gets seriously fudged sometimes), these two show up at the farmer's market even in the pouring rain to pick up the best ingredients New York has to offer, directly from local food producers themselves. I know, because I sell them fish every Saturday. And the food? Unbeatable. You can watch them make it, they have nothing to hide. Real people, real food, it doesn't get better.

At first we walked in and the place was quiet and there was only three other tables. When he started getting served they came out with this tiny started that was filled with stuff I’ve never tasted before. Each and every one was fantastic and made my tastebuds start jumping and excited for what was to come. Quickly after the plates began coming out each better than the rest. One dish was pasta made with an ostrich egg which was fantastic and we got to play with the shell of the egg beforehand.

This place is a hidden gem and I hope it stays that way. However I would love to see the place grow and show everything it has to offer. I will definitely return sometime.

Oh god. A three hour dinner and the portions were tiny! Super slow... I was starving and my husband was super tired from the week and we had to sit there and wait for every course to come out... oh, and it was cash only. If it was timed reasonably and the portions were at least double in size if not triple it would have been great.

Went here for brunch with my fiancé. It’s a speakeasy-style restaurant and is a really small kitchen, so making reservations turned out to be crucial for getting in and for the kitchen to plan.

Brunch is a multi-course tasting menu, served all at one. Do you have to be okay with waiting a fair amount before your food comes out.

The food was all amazing! It’s clear the couple running things are passionate about getting high quality, great ingredients.

I’d definitely go back again.

There’s a perfect balance that’s really hard to find in life. The flavors, the way everything looks, the genuine love behind every preparation, the counterbalance, the daughter behind the counter, a couple putting everything they have into every plate, a surprise bouquet of valentines day flowers, the love the team has for each other. Everything about Honey Badger is from the heart and backed by very very rare and exceptional talent. I haven’t had a dining experience like it.

Adventure experience with edible ingredients. After 13 courses...you're satiated but not stuffed. If you're looking for dinner...this is not the place. If you're looking for a whimsical and creative food adventure...this IS the place.

Thoroughly enjoyed our evening!!

Saw so many fabulous reviews, we couldn't wait to try it. We did a tasting menu and were pretty excited to try all of the unique dishes. When we arrived, the restaurant was empty- we had one of the earlier reservations- but 2.5 hours later, we were so ready to go. The service was extremely slow- even for a tiny restaurant with a tiny kitchen. And the food, although unique and beautiful, lacked in flavor for us. Overall, we were really kind of let down.

Honey Badger might be the best kept secret in NYC. The couple that own, operate, cook and, often, serve you are two of the most creative people in the culinary world.
Hurry up and go before The NY Times discovers it. You might not be able to get in after. It’s that good!

Perfect spot for a low-key Sunday dinner. The food was as innovative as it was delicious, and the rest of the ambiance (playlist, gracious host) made for an enjoyable visit. A unique addition to the local dining scene - I definitely recommend!

Unexpectedly this is a CASH ONLY restaurant. It is not mentioned in the web page or open table. You are made aware only when you get the menu.
Bad surprise as I don’t carry $200 cash in my pocket. I didn’t take my ATM card that evening either so this put me in a very embarrassing situation, I won’t forget the bad feeling.
Beside that. The tasting menu and execution is researched and creative. Results is good not great but inventive. Portions are tiny. Wine selection is between one Sauvignon and one Red. If you BYO there is a $30 charge.
Net net, we won’t go back.

My husband and I were here for a night out without our baby. We were a bit surprised about the prices but the menu items were unique enough and so well prepared that they were well worth their value. I am dairy-free and when I asked about options they not only listed what they could make dairy free but assured me that if I got a tasting menu they would give us a completely dairy free menu. There was one dish that was sent out by mistake but they not only remade the dish for me but offered us a free dish in apology that was from their omikase menu.

While pricey enough to not be a daily option Honey Badger is such a good experience that we will be looking forward to the fall and the more unique items they will be serving. Some of the dishes we had were a conch soup with a savory dashi base and served with sea beans. Another was the bison with charred red cabbage, and honestly the cabbage was one of my favorite things all night.

If you are unsure what to get but want to try a variety of dishes I suggest the tasting menu, although the entire table must participate. They serve an amuse bouche part way through which reignites the palate.
