Honeycomb Bar & Restaurant
'eat, drink and play' - ThePlaceToBee
No under 18 after 8:00 pm Thursday - Sunday
Cold in dining area near stairs . Smelt of damp. Far too loud for a meal. Service average. Food average. Bar after 10.30 was more like Wetherspoons than Eccy Rd.
The food was delicious but the staff let it down. Didn't know the menu to offer advice, didn't have the cocktail I wanted...
Looking for a anniversary meal last minute and came across this gem of a place.
So easy to get a table on a Saturday evening, shown straight to table. Extremely friendly service and the food was out of this world.
Definitely looking forward to going back again.
Came here for my birthday. Get food at a good price. Had a reservation that was on the later side and it gets really noisy from the bar, which is fun but a little annoying when trying to talk over dinner.
Fantastic pan Asian restaurant with high quality food and great menu
lovely food and great service - will definitely call again
Was nice food was alright
Such amazing food, I’ve been dreaming about it ever since! I wasn’t a big fan of the toilets where you can see into the men’s side and the two toilet attendants that don’t actually offer you anything and just stop talking and watch you until you leave. It’s very strange and unnerving but the restaurant itself is lovely.
Beautiful food and good service. We were the only people there at the 7pm booking, this felt a little strange. Apparently it gets busier later as they have a DJ on.
service was good and food tasty- although not as authentic as expected. very loud music
Couldn't fault food and drink. Went with 3 friends and we all enjoyed our meals. Beautifully presented, and delicious. Cocktails amazing and staff friendly
Food was fantastic and service very good too. The Duck Breast with Mango Salsa was great.
Chic and modern, the ambiance was great and the food was exactly what I’d hoped would be.
Amazing food! Really delicious, hopefully will return soon.
Amazing staff, so attentive. The food is to die for. I had the steak and OMG cooked to perfection and melts in your mouth. The rice even has flavour ♥️. I feel a bit ignorant not to remember what the sauce is but WOW. I can not reccomened highly enough. I'm back in 2 weeks and I cannot wait. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm so glad this new restaurant has opened up. It has something different that others doesn't. The atmosphere is chilled and relaxed but with great music and even better staff. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and there was a great menu to pick from. I would definitely recommend the sliders for starters! The food was served quickly and just enough time between each courses. The cocktails were fun and simply delicious.
The Restaurant had really fun quirks like the feet heaters that come on intermittently and the bathroom (I'll leave you to find that one out).
My new fave place!
The food was nice, cocktails were also nice but overpriced, they was described on the menu as something intriguing to look at, however when they came to the table they wasn’t anything special. The service was really bad, when our food came we got a dish that we didn’t order, and there was no one around that we could tell. After eating our food we was waiting 50 minutes for our plates to be taken away, and never got offered another drink which we was waiting to order.
Slow in getting food out. Loud and food wasn’t worth the money. Very bland and tasteless
I visited honeycomb with my friend and 3 children at 4pm Saturday afternoon. The food was outstanding, we ordered starters and sides for the children and then starters and a main for us. The staff were really accommodating and friendly with the children and this made our visit very pleasant. We were a little worried after reading the reviews about the bar being loud and rowdy, however it was perfect, we still had a conversation, whilst the children happily had a little boogie, we stayed until 8pm. It was a very pleasant experience and we all had a fabulous time. Will definitely be returning soon.
Had a superb night. Staff went out of their way to make it a special birthday for my friends. Food was fantastic and suited a range of different tastes. Thanks all
Extremely good food, the chef worked hard and presented very tasty food beautifully. Service was exceptionally good.
amazing place, amazing food and fantastic food and choice of drinks!
Husband and I went for dinner on a Tuesday evening. Very friendly, efficient staff. I had starter, main and dessert and gave them 10-10-10! My husband had starter and main and he gave it 5 and 5. His portions were a lot smaller than mine, which was a strange. My cauliflower starter was amazing and the panko chicken with rice and curry sauce truly delicious. The chocolate fondant dessert was one of the best I've ever tasted. Two glasses of champagne and a few beers for him and we left happy. Thank you!
Our table was booked at 8.30pm the food arrived at 10.15! When it was delivered they had to take it back to chef to put the chicken on then when it was brought back the chicken was pink. The noise was level was ridiculous and people from the bar were spilling into the restruraunt and stood around our table. Dreadful.
Nice environment and money has clearly been spent here. Food was okay but not standout for the cost. Let down by poor service. They did not have the drinks we wanted, the wine was served warm without offering the table to try it. We were overcharged at the end.
Can get something much better at this price point elsewhere eg oisoi
I dined at Honeycomb in January and was very impressed with the food and service. So I was very upset when I returned this weekend to celebrate my birthday, we were left waiting as they had forgot to make one of our tables meal.
The waitress then became high rate that we couldn’t hear her (as a table of 8 and with the loud music it was difficult) the waitress then slammed down the dish, to the extent that the dish shook and then stormed off! We received no apology for this!
I also ordered the same dish as in January and the difference in portion size was a joke!(I have pictures to prove)
And finally even trying to pay was difficult, all the waitress’s had clocked off and gone leaving us searching for someone to pay, in the end of one of the kind waitresses took our payment whilst in her coat!
Unfortunately it’s not a great place to dine in. It’s as though you’re dining out in the night club area. You have to fight your way through the club to get to the dining area. I’ve had better cooked food at Wagamamas. I could barely hear my friends talking and when I could it was only because the music had cut out. The timing throughout the meal was poor. Had to wait 20 minutes for our drinks, over an hour for our food then dessert was over 30 minutes to be told it would be another 10-15 minutes! So cancelled dessert. Then tried to charge us for something we didn’t order and overheard the same happened to the customers next to us. Sorry guys I wouldn’t go near this place again..
Food and service was very good.
Food and drinks fairly expensive but it was to be expected given the market its aiming for.
The whole place is very, very loud. We asked to be moved as we couldn't hear each other. The 2 girls at the table next to us were texting each other to communicate.
Really good. great food and drinks at a reasonable price.
Also amazing atmosphere for after dinner
Amazing food!! Could have had the whole menu. Great value for money. Drinks also great! Fabulous evening. Will return! Thank you honeycomb :)
Food was ‘ok’ at best was expecting much better. Service was good as was ambiance.
Food was a major let down
Food and service were excellent! We went for the 7course tasting menu which was great! Only downsides were that we see the only table in on a Saturday lunchtime and the coffee machine was broken (which is a must at lunchtime especially). The restaurant deserves to be busier at lunchtime so maybe a lunch menu or a deal would help?! Definitely worth a visit though!
Some of the tasting menu was delicious, but some of it was not to my liking at all, but the part that gave me a headache was the loud music. I understand that half of it is basically a night club, but I was trying to enjoy a nice meal while the music got gradually louder and louder throughout the establishment, not acceptable in the dining area.
We attended the New Year’s Eve masquerade evening with the 9 course tasting menu. Food was lovely however we felt it was overpriced for the amount we got. (Some dishes were literally 1 bite tasters). The other 3 made up for them though! Cocktails were great however I don’t think we would order the sharing ones again (£20 for one that barely filled 2 tumbler glasses). Despite being a bit over priced the place was lovely, great atmosphere, great music and we did end up having a lovely night. Would still definitely go back and try the normal evening menu rather than the tasters. Would recommend 100% for special occasion meals!
I love honeycomb, been before and loved the main menu, however the nye tasting menu was way over priced. Two of the courses were shocking the baby corn and the “mushroom” giant spring roll that wasn’t nice and didn’t contain any mushrooms at all. Portions were ridiculously small to say it was £60 a head and the cocktail provided came at the end of the meal and didn’t look or taste appetising at all. Staff wasn’t very friendly either
Have ordered Thai green curry . It tasted nothing like thai green curry . The rice is like half cooked . Overall it was like supermarket ready meal. Very very disappointed
Great bar/restaurant nice atmosphere to dine and work your way through the cocktail menu (recommended the Geisha Fizz). The staff in the restaurant couldn’t do enough for you so friendly and attentive.
Definitely pay a visit if you are around the area
Great addition to ecclesall road. Went for my girlfriends birthday, had a great date night. The decor is tastefully done. Down to the finest detail, the cocktails are excellent as is the food. You could be forgiven to think you were eating in London or Manchester the food that good. To any fan of Asian fusion I would highly recommend. Also nothing else like it that I know of in the vicinity. We’ll definitely be back.
Great first time at Honeycomb, all the staff were very friendly and I liked that they could recommend dishes from the menu. All the food was beautiful and we had great wine to go with it too. Maybe the music was a little loud for me but we were sat at the table closest to the bar. Would highly recommend here to friends and family : )
Service is really good with a good selection of Wine and Cocktails. The chef comes over to explain the menu which is a nice touch. However, the food is not the standard you expect for the service/price. We ordered Rendang Curry, Mango and Chicken Noodles and Some Thai Crab Gyoza's. The Rendang was ok and the Chicken noodles very bland. I'm sure its just teething problems though. Generally overall I like the luxury feel of the dining space and the service was spot on.
