The staff are lovely and the food is very good however for the small portions you get it appears very overpriced.
I took my wife for our anniversary and between us we had
6 Black cod rolls
100g Steak with a side of Spinach
Mochi and Cheesecake for dessert
2 x Gin and tonics
The bill inc service was £227.35 in vat
On price only would not go again
If you want to make a memorable night with your someone special then this is the place. From cooking on hotstone to delicious Kobe to real wasabi, it was a treat! Thank you Hot Stone, keep up the good work.
Best beef I've ever tasted! The sashimi are amazing and the cocktails are on point
Loved the food and the service. The chef is very friendly and makes an effort to come to the table and check if all is ok. Love that it has fresh Wasabi. Quality of food is very good.
Amazing food. The food never fails to surprise me. Great service and great atmosphere. Overall, a really good experience. Every dish we ordered was absolutely amazing. It was worth every penny of my money. The XXXL king prawns were actually XXXL, the eel sushi with creme cheese practically just melted in my mouth, and even the pickled vegetables was good. If OpenTable will let me post pictures, I shall. 10/10 - do visit.
I was actually happy to see some bonsai trees & little wasabi plant. I've never seen it before, really liked the subtle details here and there.
The food was delicious, I've never eaten makirolls that are that delicious anywhere!!! 9 chapel roll a slightly on the spicy side was bomb, flavours just explodes in your mouth. Also I had wagyu with goma roll, chef said the sauce is homemade no wonder the sauces were of whole another level. The wagyu roll (classic of hotstone and reccomended) was on the pricier side however the meat itself is a premium product so it makes sense & is absolutely worthy of the price. Chef made it right in front of me and it was a treat to see the process. Not to mention how energetic and happy the head chef is. Being a solo diner he was very accomodating and didn't make me feel alone at all.
Hot Stone was a great experience for me. I was there for wagyus mostly so I ordered the Japanese one, it just melts in your mouth and was perfect with a bowl of rice & soy. I see a lot of complaints about the price and portion and am actually really shocked at people's expectations. Try buying it online and you will see it's impossible, let alone the same grade.
People need to be realistic and stop comparing prices to that of yosushi & wasabi. You cannot have premium items, top service and everything else nice for £20. I am so glad to have found this little gem in Angel and will be back soon with my friends and share kobe. Thank you chef for such a memorable night.
It was nice to have the hot stone experience, I do left with smelly hair and clothes though cos of the smoke so make sure your coats are hung up in cloak room! :)
Portions are extremely small though and I do find it a bit pricey, the Kobe and A5 are expensive and expected but I thought something fascinating with the avocado as it’s £17 as a main/hot dish, but it was very disappointing with only half of an avocado.... not worth £17.
The service was only okay, they forgot our drinks a few times and took wrong food order (even he repeated back to us and it was correct!)....there are so many serving staffs in a relatively small restaurant but feel very disorganised and keep bumping into each other....
Excellent food but quite expensive for the venue (190 for 2)
We were having a really lovely time and enjoying the food which we had spent A LOT of money on. The waiter was very nice and helpful. We then finished our food and were completely ignored, nothing else offered to us and then we were told to leave as they needed our table. I know tables are reserved for two hours only but we had only been there for an hour and a half. It was a massive disappointment especially as we’d spent £120 on ONE dish. The menu is also really limited for vegetarians and vegans.
Felt it was very overpriced for the quality and experience.
Amazing!!!everything fantastic!!! Food staff location!! Nice nice very nice !! Very happy!!
Delicious food and friendly informative staff
A wonderful, hidden little gem of a restaurant off the Old Chapel Market in Angel. The wagyu was out of this world, as was all else on the menu that we tried along with the house Lychee cocktail. I would definitely recommend and will be coming back ~ compliments to the Chef and all the friendly staff.
Wonderful little venue in the heart of Chapel Market. Friendly and knowledgeable staff with such an excellent menu. From high end Wagyu and Oysters to solid sushi and Sake. Excellent.
Fabulous! Very highly recommended, excellent menu and best sushi in London in our opinion. The overall quality of the ingredients and preparations is sky high. The wagyu platter for the hot stone and the fatty tuna roll with truffle and caviar were out of this world. We loved the warm welcome from the chef and the kitchen staff, the attentive and friendly service and the unpretentious setting. We'll definitely be back!
Hi, Thank you very much for dining with us and taking your time to pass on the kind feedback. The whole team will be very delighted. We will love to welcome you back again :)
Food was good but too pricey to be worth it. Portions are too small. It is not as posh as it wants you to think it is
First time dining here and I could've fault it at all 10/10
Excellent service by our attentive waiter and food!
Solo dining experience, food excellent and service was good but manager refused to accept my opentable cheque.
Such a lucky find - the staff is attentive and friendly, definitely an outstanding service, and the food is amazing, with various choices that move away from your average sushi restaurant. Definitely going back.
Insane food! The sushi is to die for! Best in London 100%. Staff were super friendly. The music was the perfect level. Cute atmosphere. Very happy will visit again!
Really overpriced for what you get. The hot stone is pretty gimmicky, and the wagyu beef wasn’t worth 50 pounds. Even the rolls were really expensive compared to other places. And we left hungry ...
Amazing food! Delicious and beautiful presentation. We will definitely be back!
Very special food, the fish was really fresh and tasty, we tried the prawns tempura and I think it was the best I ever had in my life, and it was so nice cooking the beef in the hot stone just in front of us... very friendly staff, they really treat as well, I will suggest this place to friends. We will definitely back
Customer service is out of this world, food is amazing. Rock shrimp tempura is (by far) the best in London. Will be starting a petition to get it back on the menu. Top, top quality date night
the counter seat is not comfortable. cant stay for long time！！Kobe is decent but not feel like A5 I used to eat. Hot stone might have oil splashing.
Excellent hidden gem with Amazing chef must try worth it
The food is very good but the portions are tiny and, even worse, the waiting time for everything we ordered was ridiculously long. Overall this restaurant offers very poor value for money.
Over expectation on the dinner. This is not a traditional japanese hot stone restaurant and we are pretty disappointed. I am from Ishigaki,Japan and I feel bad as the food quality and price are not fair.
Food was superb and the sushi selection was a work of art. Having friends visiting London and this was definitely a brand new experience. The hot stones were “AWESOME” and the waiter’s knowledge of sake was tip-top. Steaks were enjoyed by the meat-eaters and sushi was much loved too. We were sent some rib eye inserts of sirloin which was a lovely touch but the one star for value was only for the price of the wagyu. We wanted to have it but it was way out of reach. Will be back!
Great service, delicious food and very interesting choice of maki! This time we didn't get any hot stone meals but we'll definitely come back for that (as it looked stunning on other tables!)
The service was outstanding, very professional and the staff's attention to details was (positively) surprising for London standards.
Expect your clothes to smell a bit afterwards (I mean, it's a hot stone restaurant, right).
All in all we had a great time! I do recommend this restaurant and will be back!
I saw seated at the bar to start off with which not acceptable for a date. I asked to be moved which eventually happened.
You should state on your bookings if you have no tables available.
Good food. Overpriced. Horrible wine. Overpriced. Clothes saturated with grease and smoke on departure. Cooking staff so noisy could not have conversation with mate. Bar horribly uncomfortable: seats too close, don’t swivel.
The food was incredible and such good value for money. The service was excellent and we were greeted by a very warm welcome upon arrival. This is very highly recommended. X
Fun for a date as the staff make a huge fuss on entry. Maitre d was v helpful with our suitcases. Chefs were happy to chat about the food and ingredients. The bar chairs were fixed to the floor and so it was a bit cramped, and drinks service was a bit slow and erratic and it is a bit over-priced but overall very good fun, good food and v friendly
