What Insiders Are Saying
Hotel Chantelle is where you go when it's your 21st birthday and you need to dance because your internship is totally stressing you out.
My friends came to visit me and we decided to do Sunday Brunch at Hotel Chantelle. We had the best time! The food was great, the atmosphere was amazing, and our server was the best. It unexpectedly turned into a dance party and my friends and I enjoyed every second of it.
It was great!
Getting too over run by HUGE party tables. There were 3-4 tables of 12 people or more at the same time when we were there. Makes it ridiculously loud, which is ironic given great jazz band. Whom I pitied.
Everything was really good , amazing service.
But really noisy and it was cold , maybe more heater upstairs can be great.
Food was great! Service was also great! Only bad thing I have to say is that most of the tables had park bench chairs that didn’t have good back support and if you sit all the way back you can’t reach your food. Also you have to climb up two flights of stairs to get to restaurant so don’t wear shoes you can’t climb stairs with!
Since the moment I arrived, everybody was very friendly. They had a DJ with EXCELLENT music!! The food was very good (i had hamburger) and the mimosas were ok. They sent me a free dessert with a candle for my birthday. I'll come back for sure!
Music is a bit loud for a romantic brunch
Loved the food and service! The only complaint was that it was too loud for a dinner date and the table wobbled a bit, but the taste and experience offset those grievances.
The brunch is not as live as others in the city- if your looking for a chill brunch spot it’s a great place but not a party brunch. Overall- great food- awesome rooftop- and the employees are super friendly and tentive!
Front desk were rude and unhelpful. They sat us at a table in the midst of a Christmas party despite every other table being free and when we requested to move the response was ‘this is the only table’. That’s funny I can see 20 free tables. Our waitress was lovely but I will not be returning and would not recommend
been here before and always enjoyed the food, drinks, and ambiance. took my sister for her birthday and two of our party of six were late. the hosts were understanding and hospitable in seating us at a four-top next to two ladies who were paying, with the intention of giving our friends the seat when they arrived. this simple act removed the anxiety from our brunch and we were able to celebrate the way we intended. our server, Roman, was fun, cheeky, and kept up very well with our energy. thank you HC for a wonderful day.
My party of five arrived 20 minutes late but we were grateful to be seated promptly. From there everything went downhill - getting our menus took 20 minutes, getting a waitress to take our order took another 10, getting our food took another 30, by the time we received our food it was 30 minutes to 2, and the waitress tells us we need to be out of there by 1:56. We were seated at 12:25. So I took an entire hour just to order and get food on our table.
The baguette the avocado spread was on was chewy and my friend couldn’t consume most of it. Before I was done with my plate the waitress tried to take it off my table.
I really love hotel Chantelle and I want to come back, I’m jus hoping yesterday’s sloppy day was a fluke.
Great place but I was looking forward to heard the Jazz Band and they didn’t play that Sunday
It was busy so the service was a little slow and there was a mix up with the bill that was corrected right away. Otherwise the food was fantastic and the drinks were fun!
Great music on all 3 floors! This is one of my personal favorite bar/clubs to go to in LES! If your looking to dance and have a great time this is a great place to host your birthday! The food is also incredible. I just had dinner there on Saturday with my girlfriend and was completely blown away! If you’re looking to host your Birthday there I would set a dinner reservation for you and your friends before 10 pm to avoid the line outside.
The food was overpriced and it wasn’t a good amount. Also, the food wasn’t good. The menu was small .The service was good and nice atmosphere.
My server Emilio was awesome! Great service from everybody
Really loud. Good time though. Not what I expected for brunch. Staff was okay. Friendly, but unable to keep up with was not a very busy Sunday morning. There is no view at all once they close the top of the rooftop. Drinks were very reasonable and strong. Food was fantastic.
Rooftop gem with a great ambiance and service! The tables are extremely close together - so be prepared to get to know your neighbor. The food and drink menu has something for everyone.
SO good. Easily the best value rooftop dining/brunch/cocktails I’ve found in NYC. Ambience is a loud outdoor French bistro with live music. We did a round of Jameson shots (AHHH) for breakfast and it was a blast. I would come back in a heartbeat and take anyone I know just to impress them.
Awesome flavor combinations! Drinks and food were superb.
Restaurant was pretty much empty about 15 tables empty and waiter kept rushing us to finish our last drink because they needed the table. Never experienced this anywhere else. Besides that, drinks are good food is ok. Not going back after this.
I must say that I was really looking forward to this place after viewing so many high regards towards this restaurant. Unfortunately, the food and drinks did not meet my expectations. As I was drinking my cocktails and eating my entree, I said to myself, “I can’t believe this is what people call excellent and delicious food.”
I’m not sure if I had been too spoiled by my go-to restaurants / bars, but this place, at its highest, was overall a C+. Hostess and server were marvelous and utterly professional, A+ for them. My burger tasted like a burger I’d make for my daughter when I’m super tired and wish to not make dinner — not bad, just not $18 good.
The hosts at the front gave us a hard time when we added one extra person but the manager came to our table and handled it. Very nice guy !
very fun and there was live jazz!
The restaurant made us wait at the bar for 30 minutes before seating us at one of the tables that had been sitting open behind us the entire time. There were several open tables that remained open the entire time we were dining there (so, not reserved).
Honestly, the food is not good enough for the vibe they're putting out and the cost. Live music, ambiance, and service was good but it felt like an unjustified "hip spot" for an annoying selfie-taking clientele.
Came here for Sunday brunch . Must bring I.D as they ask for this on the door . Great little rooftop and the vibe was cool. We was sat near the bar which is where they have the live music . The live music is good but it was far too loud for such a small area and I couldn’t have a proper conversation with my friend. Service was a little slow and not very attentive and our server was very pushy in asking us to add a tip. Not sure if this is acceptable here as from the u.k. Overall experience pretty good but let down slightly by the service
Went to Hotel Chantelle with my wife and her sister to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The staff was super friendly helpful in every way . Victoria who was one of the hostesses took great care of us knowing it was my wife’s birthday she sent us dessert and drinks . The food was excellent and the music was pumping . We went downstairs to watch the ufc fight it was a home run can not wait to go back .
830pm reservation - seated at 9pm got food at 10:20pm. Wasn’t happy.
We were sat 30 mins after our reservation. The host totally forgot about us, we got a “guess we missed you” email from open table so I don’t think we got checked in properly, when we followed up at the 15 min mark we were told any moment but then waited another 15 mins. Food took forever, drinks took forever. People were nice and waitress was apologetic but we were hungry and wanted a nice dinner out and safe to say this place is better for just drinks. Bar service was good. Food was good once it finally arrived but having plans after dinner we didn’t really get to enjoy had to immediately ask for check.
This was supposed to be a nice, leisurely brunch. My husband loves brunch. But, he usually works on Sundays, so it's never doable. This week, however, he had it off, and I was so excited. So, I found the perfect spot (or so I thought) to take him. Rooftop seating. What looked like a great menu. Well, let's just say, this is three hours we will never get back, nor ones that we'll ever look back on fondly as having been a great Sunday brunch. It was a completely ruined Sunday brunch, and a horrible way for him to spend a rare Sunday off.
There was a giant brown hair in the sauce on my burger. Our waitress disappeared for nearly a half hour, leaving us and two other tables waiting for our checks. And the manager was chatting at front and completley clueless about what was going on. The food that didn't have hair which was the lobster benedict was cold by the time we arrived. And the waitress never returned for me to order something else in place of my burger, cause she went MIA. So, I ended up not having any brunch.
And when the waitress returned, no apology. No nothing. Didn't even care that I'd been sitting there, now 90 minutes, never getting food to eat. My husband is also a server, and he is the king of over-tipping and understanding. Sunday brunch was the first time in 14 years, I've ever seen him leave less than 15%.
As we're walking out, we asked for a manager. Antonella, at the hostess stand is apparently the manager. But you'd never know it, since she never came into the restaurant. She just stood at the hostess stand, outside the restaurant chatting. I find that odd. The entire staff was aware our waitress disappeared. Why wasn't Antonella managing the situation. And why did she assure us that she would be in touch about this situation and never follow thru?
This was just all around BAD. RUN anywhere. Go to McDonald's around the corner. Just don't go to the Chantelle. You'll waste your money and probably leave like us, hungry, annoyed and dumbfounded
We made reservations there to watch the NYG football game. The upstairs was packed but where we were there were only a few people. You can not hear the game because a DJ was playing awesome music. It was loud and fun and a great time. I would go again. The food was great.
I was excited trying this place out especially when it was recommended by a lot of vloggers/bloggers.. indeed, it didn’t disappoint us at all. I especially liked the avocado toast and we both enjoyed the food so much. The sangria was the best! I like that the aftertaste i get from drinking this is so good, like a mild fruity but not soury taste.
Wonderful setting and I loved the live jazz music, Dandy Wellington and his band were extremely memorable and made a great ambiance. I would have liked some more vegan options on the menu!
Food was fine but everything else as horrible - all the people working were slow and rude and we got kicked out of our table after 1 hour. The hostess on the roof was horrible and absolutely rude and then downstairs we sat near the DJ which had a spotlight on our table and was loud. Once we got kicked out of our table we were absolutely furious - our entire meal the drinks came slow, we didn’t get any of the sauces we asked for, and the bus boy took our plate/glasses/cups before we were done. Don’t recommend this to anyone. Once we got kicked out of our table, there was no room at the bar (where they directed us) and we ended up leaving because we weren’t able to find space for our “complimentary drinks”. Horrible experience, terrible time and space management!!!!
I have never left a review anywhere before but everything about my recent experience was that awful. From the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out - it was a nightmare. I work in the industry and understand that these things happen & it was at the end of the shift but, come on. When I say everything went wrong, I mean EVERYTHING! It was just really bad and I'm honestly upset because I love going there but I'm not sure I'll make it back after this past Sunday.
Great Drinks, really good food, fun atmosphere, super loud!
Had a great time having brunch here both times. The food, the music, and the cocktails are amazing!
