Stunning food with exemplary service. The dishes were nicely timed without feeling rushed or wanting. The wait staff felt genuine and relaxed, yet still attentive.
Fantastic restaurant, very centric, great decoration.
The food was excellent. The grilled sea bass to share was delicious. Some of the dishes are slightly highly priced but there are other more affordable options.
Excellent choice of interesting wines (as in not the usual suspects). We chose a Greek Malagoussia (White).
The lokma and the ekmek kadaifi were an excellent desserts.
Waiter was not well informed about the menu in any way. Kept having to go back to the kitchen to provide us with answers. The simit was excellent, shakshouka was acceptable. The burger, imam aubergine, and menemen were all poor in taste and texture.
Beautiful place. Amazing staff and a delicious menu. The menu is a little expensive considering the type of food. Saying that, each dish was executed perfectly. Cheapest bottle of wine is circa £40ish which means a couple of cocktails and a few bottles of wine with everyone certainly adds up.
Saying that, it’s a wonderful place. I would definitely go back although I may make it a bit more of a special occasion as it’s reasonably pricey.
The dj and bar upstairs is fun.
Great experience overall, good service and friendly staff! Will visit again :)
i was sat at the bar waiting for my drink and before the drink came, the barman presented me with a bill... Which is very strange, you should never get a bill before you are served what you ordered. I asked the barman if he knows i havent had my drink yet and he shrugged and took the receipt back..
Service in the restaurant was great, and the food was lovely. nice atmosphere, the music wasnt to my taste but it was pleasant.
This place has potential but it’s pretty fake at the moment
The food wasn’t amazing was something fairly basic and really overpriced. calamaris as starter were basic / 15 quid a portion and they were too done . other places have similar for 7 pounds a portion
The location and design is good but the waiters ( although nice attitude ) keep checking on you constantly and it gives a rushing and pushy energy
The food was basic and quickly served same for the cocktails
I have been to many places in London which are nice and really expensive places which are actually worth their value
This seems a ‘wanna be restaurant’
We’ve asked for the bill and when we’ve received it we were surprised to see that they have added 20% tax on whatever we’ve ordered although this was not mentioned In the menu at start.
So if you pay 18 quid for a starter you need to calculate extra 20% for the final value etc ...
Quite disappointing at the end.
Wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend unless you are loaded and you don’t care about your money
I’m generally a big fan of Hovarda, but twice in a row I’ve booked their set menu and they’ve refused to honor in, raised the bill by about 60£ each time
Great place to have dinner downstairs, then continue for drinks / some dancing upstairs. Amazing house music upstairs!
I felt a bit sorry for Hovarda. Vast sums have clearly been spent on the interior's utterly opulent decor, the food is outstandingly good, and yet the place was pretty much deserted on a Saturday evening when the rest of South Soho was utterly heaving. What's gone wrong??
I think the problem is simply location, location, location. This is a nouveau-Mayfair type restaurant, pitched squarely at the wealthy and the ostentatious. It would no doubt go great guns next door to Novikov, but it is clearly struggling in vibier and scuzzier Rupert Street.
We ate really excellent squid, a roasted beetroot salad as good as anything at Hovarda's super-successful next-door-neighbour Palomar, OK-ish grilled chicken and possibly the best (and tiniest) kleftiko I've ever tasted. Thank heavens we ordered from the pre-theatre menu, which was a snip at £24.95 each. The a la carte pricing is off the charts.
The dining room is a tranquil oasis of calm, and the bar is ideal for a peaceful and reflective cocktail in utterly extravagant surroundings, but I don't think that's what the management were shooting for when they splashed the cash on decking Hovarda out like an adjunct to a seven-star Dubai hotel. There was consequently a whiff of desperation about the glamorous, black-clad waitstaff. Please come and see our cocktail bar! Please order a dessert! Have some more wine! And the pre-theatre menu was naughtily withheld until we asked for it. We left thinking we'd somehow let Hovarda down by not qute spending enough.
If you fancy an evening of top-quality Greek-Turkish food with a chunky side-order of weirdness and desperation, then I couldn't recommend Hovarda highly enough. You'd better hurry, though: I don't suppose it will be around for long.
I've heard a lot about Hovarda and it didn't disappoint! Friendly excellent service. Delicious food (especially the starters and the lamb main which just melts in your mouth!). Nice setting.
It's not terrible but it's not what we wanted it to be. We came for the pre-theatre menu. The starters were good. The wine was overpriced. The mains were tasty, but really tiny. The music was weirdly over loud despite us being the only people in there. Some staff were friendly, but also overattentive. They got us out in time for the theatre which was good. Overall feels like we spent a lot of money but not sure we enjoyed it. Toilets were nice!
Previously I have only been to Hovarda in the evening and it has a fun, lively atmosphere. Service is always very good but can be a bit too attentive at times. This was my first visit in the daytime and I had been told it was much quieter at lunch which is good because I was dining with elderly family members. The set lunch menu is remarkably good value - we tried the squid, greek salad and beetroot starters, plus all of the main courses (lamb kleftiko, aubergine, seafood pasta and chicken). All of the food was excellent. My main criticism is the portion sizes which were very odd. The starters were of a very generous size (as big as mains) but the aubergine and lamb kleftiko mains were really small with no vegetables/potatoes or garnish on the side, compared to a huge bowl of seafood pasta and a nicely proportioned chicken dish. The set lunch menu does not have side dishes listed as an extra but you really need to add sides for some of the mains so I think these should be added to the menu or offered by staff on ordering. We had 4x set lunches, plus 2 glasses of wine and 2x beers and with service it came to just under £120 in total (£30pp) which is very reasonable for the location, setting and venue. A great place for a quiet lunch in Piccadilly and particularly good for pre-theatre meals (either at lunchtime or early evening).
Went for brunch for wife's birthday and now this is my favourite restaurant! Exquisite food, great service (thanks Antoine!) and great ambience. Nice, helpful friendly staff. :-)
The food I’d say was mediocre and overpriced for what you get. Not many options for vegan/vegetarians so I certainly won’t be returning to eat.
The bar upstairs gets lively around 11pm, really cool vibe. Would return for drinks at the bar however again quite pricey but guess you pay for the entertainment as there is a dj on
Brilliant restaurant and bar, absolutely everything was on point and I would certainly recommend. It isn’t cheap though so I would keep that in mind next time.
Lovely restaurant with friendly staff and good food. We ate from the pre-theatre menu - 2 courses for £24.50 or 3 for £29.50. Choice of 3 dishes for starters, mains and desserts. The food arrived quickly, was beautifully prepared and tasted delicious.
Food at Hovarda was nice enough. The mood on the evening however was dampened by the pretty awful service. Six of us were out for a joint birthday dinner. Every couple of minutes we had someone ask whether we were ready to order. This feeling of being rushed lasted all throughout the meal. Even after the main course - whilst a couple of people were not at the table - we were asked twice whether we'd like to order pudding. Table was too small as well. Constantly arms reaching in and over us to add, move and remove plates and glasses. All in all: chaotic, bad service and at the price you can find much better restaurants in London. Don't expect this to survive long in its current format.
Great place to meet friends and hold a conversation. The ambiance is very nice, the food was excellent, and the service was perfect. We felt comfortable enough and stayed for four hours. I would definitely go back again just for the delicious food.
We had really lovely time! Would recommend for everyone! Will come back there for sure!
A beautiful decor and interior are the only things that’s worth seeing at this restaurant. Service is immature and non-coordinated. Staff seem to be confused and unprepared. Either the lack of training (or absence) or completely wrong people in the wrong places. Food, despite inspired by beautiful cuisines of Greece and Turkey is very blunt and non-imaginative. And finally price - you do pay a substantial premium for being in West End, thats for sure, but this place is really not worth it. Howarda is a basic casual dining restaurant charging premium prices pretending to be something it is not. Disappointing visit.
Very bad experience overall. Despite the fact that we made reservations well ahead of time the hostess picked for us a place on a high table by the kitchen. We were constantly hearing the yelling from the staff in the kitchen. We did not get the menu for at least 15mn after taking our seats. When we asked to change tables we were told that if another spot opens up we would be the first ones to move but despite the place being half empty, the staff did not offer us to change tables. Rather than having dinner with a nice bottle of wine, we ended up having one drink and some appetizers and left.
It was absolutely delicious. Gorgeous setting, great vibe, food and music. My mom thought the music was a bit loud, which indeed it was a bit around 11pm. Still a lovely place, def will be back.
Cool place, very expensive, great atmosphere in the weekend, few people during the week.
As always excellent food in Hovarda
3x the lamb at our table ………super!
Maxim’s service was outstanding
Top Sunday night dinner
A restaurant offering wonderful food, great service, excellent wine/champagne and delicious cocktails! I'll certainly be back again soon!
Great food and service. It was perfect for our occasion. It was a business dinner and the ambience was perfect for having conversations.
Location is great.
Our waiter was very helpful when advising for wine alternatives, ensuring guests were looked after and even providing guidance and information about the menu.
Very loud, poor service and food
Lovely restaurant. Excellent food. Maxim, our server, was attentive without being intrusive. Great choice for a pre-theater dinner.
Price performance ratio is low
Ambiance is good for restaurant but environment at the bar is not reflecting the elegance of the environment
Hovarda exceeded expectations from a food and service perspective, our waiter was attentive and meticulous with his recommendations from food to wine. The food was delicious an honest 5/5! The only thing I found strange was the restaurant was rather empty for a Thursday lunch service, perhaps the marketing/PR team need to advertise the deals harder. Wasn't the most cost efficient but was happy to pay for the service and great food. Highly recommend!
I had a great evening the only problem the music was so loud I was shouting to be heard. Other than that amazing food, service and atmosphere. The music was only loud because we were there when the DJ came on which is past 10pm so I am sure it would be fine before then.
Music was good
Amazing food and drinks. Great service. Great atmosphere. Overall highly recommended - the perfect place for weekend, special occasions or celebrations!
Excellent service and fabulous ambiance on Thursdays. Great DJ. Strongly recommend
Fantastic food and service
Avoid this place at all costs.
The service was somewhere between indifferent and inadequate. I’ve had more attentive and thoughtful service on Ryanair.
The food here wouldn’t be out of place in a late night Turkish diner, but there it would come out at 1/10th the price. And maybe they wouldn’t burn the cheese.
The wine was tolerable, but the price was ridiculous, and the overpriced sugary cocktails almost felt bearable in comparison.
Finally, the music. Although it got progressively louder, they “can’t turn it down because we’ve got a DJ”. Whatever that means.
The only way in which this place is impressive is the chutzpah they exhibit in charging so much for so little. So they’ll probably do fine - just don’t let them do it to you.
Lovely food, great service, especially Maxim
Good restaurant in Covent Garden for general ambience. I wasn’t impressed by the dinner menu. I was pleased with most of the dishes but I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant for delicious food. Food was okay. Good restaurant if you’re looking for a great ambiance. Service was excellent!
we loved all of it
