This was my 2nd visit to restaurant. The place itself had a great atmosphere and fab service. The first visit was an evening a few months ago and was nice enough to try again this time for Sunday lunch. The choice for Sunday lunch was limited so thought that would mean the food would be fab, however starters not good or bad, main course poor and lacking in various aspects, the desserts spot on. Seemed to lack identity overall.
Excellent would definitely return and recommend albeit pricy.
Exceptional service - warm but professional. Great food and wine!
Amazing food, super-friendly staff, romantic but still lively atmosphere. Loved it.
Excellent food quality and wine choices with friendly and helpful staffs. What else can you ask for?
The restaurant has improved considerably since we last ate there six months ago and found the service haphazard. This time we were served by attentive, clearly well-trained staff. Also, the menu is wider with plenty of choice for vegetarians as well as meat eaters. Our starters were a very tasty prawn cocktail and a beetroot salad with a gorgeous orange and hazlenut dressing. For mains we enjoyed sea trout and sea bass, both perfectly cooked with well-judged accompaniments. The wine list runs from inexpensive to very expensive, with not a lot in the middle, but the helpful sommelier took time to guide us to a choice we were happy with. He also treated us to complimentary tastings of other wines. All in all, it was a perfect occasion.
Pretty, ok food, convenient to meet up half way between Oxford and W London
We have visited Hurley House many times and have never seen every table filled as it was on Sunday. The taste of our food was delicious and the service excellent.
A wonderful find with exceptional service. The wine list was superb with a knowledgeable discreet level of service by our waiter . The rooms were great with gorgeous bed linens
We enjoyed our stay immensely
Met friends here to celebrate my birthday and had a lovely dinner with great service. Food is a bit on the pricey side and I had the fish and chips and it was delicious, my only complaint would be that it should of had a pea purée with it. For dessert I had choc brownie and it was lovely but again, a bit pricey. Overall we all thoroughly enjoyed what we had and the service was great. We wanted to move to the bar area and relax with our coffee but there is no comfy seating in the bar where you can chill and chat and that was a shame as the bar is a lovely area. We will def return and maybe have afternoon tea and sit in the garden as the outside area looks amazing too.
Awesome dinner. Best food I have had outside of London for quite some time.
Saturday evening table in the restaurant, very busy but service remained very good throughout the duration of our stay. Nice touch to bring our friend a special birthday treat.
Good choice of wines , and food was very well presented
If you like a bit quieter try a week day booking
We had not tried this retaurant before but went in for coffee with some friends one morning. The place was very welcoming and well appointed/decorated with brilliant staff service, so we returned 2 days later for lunch.
Really good lunchtime menu, a tad pricey, but for the level of service friendliness and attentiveness of the staff it deserved to be a tad pricey. Will most certainly be returning for a dinner booking soon!
We felt let down by our visit as our table was crammed between other tables such that we were unable to talk. Also the general noise level in the dining room was very high again prohibitively so for talking.
The food was fantastic. I feel if the restaurant simply reduced the number of covers then the restaurant could be great.
Fantastic welcome - staff lovely and attentive - food was delicious and service excellent - shame you can’t choose your fellow diners - we were hoping for a quiet meal but unfortunately there was a table of rather loud diners in the small restaurant at same time - but that was not the restaurants fault - so we didn’t stay for coffee !! fabulous dining room though !! loved the decor - would definitely recommend to others .
It was just really lovely, beautiful decor, great staff and really good food
Great place, compared to the celebrity chef places around this is just as good and probably a bit better value. Staff were very attentive and definitely cared about us having a good time. Steak was really nice. Wine was fantastic.
The service was excellent, friendly and very professional. This is a cosy place, with style. All team members are well trained. We had the Loch Duart Salmon as first course; tasty and well prepared. My wife had the wood pigeon wellington with crushed swede and carrots, and I had the cod with smoked bacon, leeks and samphire. Wow! We really enjoyed the flavours, combination of colours and textures of these dishes. On top of this, we were very lucky, because, it was Friday and Nima Leon was playing the guitar. He played some pieces of Paco de Lucia specially for us while we had a glass of dessert wine at the bar. Many thanks to the Hurley House team, and specially to our waitress Alina who was very attentive all evening. I highly recommend this place.
My third visit and no surprises everything was really excellent staff, food, service and ambience
A fantastic experience all round ... fabulous ... had a wonderful time, everyone was so friendly and extremely professional, food was amazing ... pet friendly too ... our dogs loved it as well! Thoroughly recommend, amazing in every way!
A most enjoyable experience. Excellent food and service, with most efficient staff.
Very attractive gardens to sit in (and luckily for us, warm enough to eat outside).
The establishment is beautifully kept, both inside and out, making the whole experience very pleasant.
We would definitely recommend it, and will certainly visit again.
Feel like they have really lost their way. Menu confusing with blend of broad appeal dishes and more sophisticated. Finesse has gone. Had to change bread three times - so tough. Starters of 1 heritage beetroot and 1 heritage tomatoes great but two fish mains (cod and plaice) underwhelming for the price £26 and £28. Won’t give up on them yet.
Great lunch - good veggie options. A bit on the rich side for my tastes, but very inventive and well prepared.
Gorgeous Sunday roast on a rainy day washed down with some beautiful wine.
This is just right for a special lunch, the food was outstanding, we had 3 different types of fish and the Pigeon Wellington.
We sat outside which was lovely except for piped music which seemed 5o come from the hedge, a little bizarre.
Inside very country chic,I was a little alarmed by the over use of fake flowers there was even a fake wisteria over the entrance which at this time of year looked silly and a little tacky.
We brought friends from abroad as we had always been more than satisfied with the food and the experience.
Service was at best slow, wine was not cold enough.
I ordered the cod that I have had several times, the portion of cod was completely unacceptable, it look as if the kitchen was running out of cod antd the chef cut the normal portion into two pieces, and at a cost of £28 ! as we were with friends it was difficult to complain
my wife had the plaice which was four times the size of the cod, which she enjoyed.
All in all a disapointing evening, for the first time.
Top quality dining in lovely surroundings with impeccable service.
Third visit, always been a special occasion and it’s always been a wonderful evening. Food is great, atmosphere good
Nicholas was our waiter and he was great. Very enthusiastic, very happy and made sure we had everything we wanted. Food was excellent, yes expensive, but worth it. Look forward to our next visit.
Smart surroundings, good service and interesting menu.
PLUS chargers for my Tesla!
Hurley House is a really fantastic place - we love it here.
Came with friends to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Waiting for starters for ages then the main courses were delivered before the starters.
My friend’s starter of pigeon was inedible - couldn’t cut it.
When fish course arrived - seemed overlooked.
Incredible slow service. 20%deducted off bill which helped to mollify us a little but it made a celebration not such a great occasion .
Champagne and wine very good.
A very enjoyable lunch in a very relaxing environment with the right level of attentiveness. Excellent food and very well looked after during our visit.
An absolutely wonderful evening eating outdoors with special friends. We were greeted with a warm welcome; the ambience was relaxed; the service was excellent and friendly; and most importantly the food was absolutely delicious - a special thanks to the chefs for this superb meal. I look forward to eating here again soon!
We ate outside as the evening was warm in a very nice courtyard area. The service was very attentive without being overly so and the food superb . Very impressed.
Excellent staff very friendly. Lovely place to eat. We thoroughly enjoyed the Friday guitarist. Thank you
Outstanding anniversary dinner, food and service were excellent, will be definitely coming back
Beautiful decor inside and out, finished to a high standard. Great seating outside surrounded by beautiful plants.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Brunch was simple and delicious.
Lovely surroundings, great Gin & Cocktail list. Friendly and attentive staff. Food outstanding, especially the Sirlon and Fillet steaks. Our first visit and we will be back for afternoon tea and spa treatments.
The food was fab and the service was great but £43 for two simple breakfasts pus one coffee and two teas is ludicrous even by Henley standards
It's a great place but the value just isn't there
