Excellent atmosphere and the food was delicious
We went there to celebrate birthday. The food was amazing and the service was great. We really enjoyed it. Thank you.
Delicious set menu, well worth it. I shall be back.
Especially impressed by our waiter (Matthew I think?) who knew so much about Chinese food in general. We talked about XO sauce and the different regions the Restaurant incorporates.
Great cocktails as well
The ambience was pleasant and the place was almost full but we were served right away and were taken to our table almost immediately. The service was beyond amazing. Thanks to Henry. The food was scrumptious. Definitely worth the money. Best restaurant in Shard. Would definitely recommend.
My sons birthday
Obviously part of the reason you'd choose to eat here is because of the view. So on that score, it's well worth it if you get a window seat. We did, and were very grateful for it - and in fact they even gave us a little "happy anniversary" extra dessert too, which was a nice touch.
The signature menu (£55) is excellent and well worth it. The cocktails are a little pricey at around £16/17, but they're quite unusual and unlike anything I've had before, so again worth it.
Throughout the staff were very attentive and pleasant, and explained every dish.
I see in the in other reviews that one diner listed parking as hard to find/inconvenient as a negative. What a daft comment. Nothing whatsoever to do with the restaurant.
My only other complaint is actually about the diners. It's a special place, and the dress code is apparently smart/casual. So turning up in dirty trainers and looking like you're going to do some gardening is a bit off. I'd have turned them away, personally, otherwise why have a dress code.
Great experience. If you like Chinese food and want a treat, go for it.
Great place, amazing view, amazing food and excellent service.
Food very fusion chinese & service was up to standard
Inconvenience to find a parking nearby
Super monument, food and service with nice changes to menu.
Chairs could do with an upgrade they are not comfortable!
Disappointed in the food, but the view made up for it. The tables were quite large so we spent a lot of time shouting to each other to be heard. There are no soft furnishings in the restaurant so it is noisy, not especially relaxing. The calamari was cold and rubbery, 2 of us had to spit it out but maybe we are just not use to that type of food. The rice was very oily. Huge prawns were tasty, but difficult to eat - we ended up having to use our hands to get the shell off, usually restaurants being a bowl of water to rinse fingers but they didn’t. Won’t be returning for food, but will try a different restaurant at the shard because the view was amazing.
The food was extremely spicy, the view is amazing
Great restaurant, ambience is lovely. I wasn’t totally blown away by the food, limited choices if you prefer sauces with your meal. Overall it was a good evening out with the family.
It was our wedding anniversary the service as usual was excellent we were disappointed with the slow cooked beef which was much dryer than when we have had it previously
The view is inspiring and makes you realise how lucky we are to live near London
One of my favourite restaurants in London, it never disappoints. Delicious food and cocktails accompanied by an amazing view of London. Excellent, friendly service.
Service from the waiter was less good than average. Also could not swap out a prawns dish for an equivalently priced alternative on the fixed menu. They offered more of another dish - was very bizarre. For a restaurant with its credentials, this is not great. They have to try harder and hire more experienced staff. Food was very good though.
Visited Hutong for a birthday treat. The whole experience was amazing! Excellent service, stunning views and the most delicious food. Pricey, but well worth every penny for an unforgettable meal. Would highly recommend.
It was our first time at the Shard . I enjoyed the experience. I will visit again very soon. Service was amazing.
Food, service, welcome have all gone totally different from previously!
You do get good portions of food. Value for money. Staff are pleasant and helpful. Could only have starter and main and could hardly finish the main. One of my friends was vegan and her meals were so delicious I didn’t even miss the meat when I tasted it. Need an upgrade on the cocktail list. Apart from that I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Service was poor, no real engagement from team. Requested a table by the window didn’t provided or mentioned it. Pushed us to leave while we have not finished desert yet. I understand every table has a time slot but chasing customer to leave while there’s still food on the table was just poor service. Takeaway in paper boxes but no bags provided, we had to carry 3 boxes of food while leaving. Hygiene wise, Saw them cleaning table next to us using only paper, not disinfection or spray. No hand sanitiser provided on the table, very rare considering prices you pay for and all other similar priced restaurants in London are offering. We’re used male and female toilets both were cramped and dirty. Lots of people taking photos in toilet and no traffic management nor timely cleaning.
Food wise, expensive for the average quality, it makes up with a view. Far away from authentic food and decent experience. Not going back soon or recommending it to others.
lovely food the best egg fried rice i’ve had anywhere!
friendly service and the view was lovely
It was my wedding anniversary. We went for the set menu, the food was delicious, but it wasn’t enough. I thought the portions should have been doubled
Good views with tasty food.
Without doubt one of the best restaurants in London that we have visited. Food was superb, service was attentive but not overbearing and …..that view. Superb night out - thank you.
We had a very pleasant experience at Hutong. It wasn’t cheap but the service was excellent, staff were very attentive and friendly, food was authentic (the duck is a must!) and the ambience was fantastic (we had a table by the window so the view was great). Lastly, obviously there was no open window but I could feel that the place was well-ventilated. Would be coming back. And thank you to the staff from Indonesia (didn’t get his name) who gave my daughter a complimentary dessert with a candle (we were there to celebrate her exam results).
We spent our anniversary with our two little ones. We where abit nervous taking them but the staff where so good with them made them feel welcome. We had the vegetarian lunch menu and ordered some seperate noodles and duck for the kids which the waiter suggested. There was so much food and it was all so tasty! They brought out an anniversary dessert which was a very kind gesture. Only negative was I wish they had an attendant keeping the toilets clean but if a let down. But overall very good experience.
Blunt staff, deteriorating decor, too fast paced and lack of atmosphere. Quite nice food
Absolutely fantastic service. Nothing more to add at all 😁😁
Really enjoyed lunch there today.
Lovely food and not really expensive
Incredible experience. Setting and window table was insane. Food as good as expected, cocktails and service even better! Wow
Lovely vibe and great food. Was looked after well when they saw that I had an injured ankle when I turned up in the taxi
Best Chinese food I have ever tasted.
We were celebrating our son’s 17th. Everyone made us very welcome.
Great food. Great table. Great view. Great service.
Nice overall, staff are really friendly and helpful too
I visited Hutong for a pre birthday celebration as Boris Johnson had announced we were going into a second lockdown which would see me celebrate my birthday alone. The ambience was very nice however our food and drinks were unsatisfactory. Our waiter wasn’t the friendliest either. Thankful for great company that made this experience because it definitely was not the food and the service.
Dining at Hutong’s is always a wonderful experience for the senses. As well as delicious food to feast upon, you are accompanied by great service and magnificent views of London.
We always leave Hutong’s with a feeling of ‘what a wonderful treat’
Looking forward to returning again when able.
Delicious food and the location and views are terrific. One of the best in London!
