Excellent views, great food and lovely atmosphere. Perfect for a special occasion
Beautiful ambience with some of the most impressive views of London, great food and service. Dark and perfect for date nights...
Simply marvellous as we were looked after so well and the food and service were both excellent and the restaurant Manager was especially kind and helpful as it was our anniversary - thank you all so much once again and we shall be back
Great view of toy town but the cuisine is average. They bring the courses out on black plastic trays which negates any concept of quality or style. Random bar guests would walk into the dining area to use their mobile phone or take photos. If you are asked i if you wold like a second bottle of wine it would have been helpful to be told that the time allocation for the table would need to be adhered to rather than making the sale and then swiftly saying the table was required back. The desert looked like it had been designed and served for aeroplane food and the taste was unremarkable considering it was meant to be part of a tasting menu. Once been never to return
We had dumplings, tiger prawns with Sichuan chilli sauce and king-po style chicken and everything was delicious but not nicely presented - everything looked messy, like takeaway food. We sat in the middle section between the main restaurant and the bar where the ambience was not great, it felt very office-like. The waitress was friendly but her English was limited. We love this restaurant and have been here three times within the past few months but feel that many details are being overlooked causing the whole experience to feel casual, informal and not special at all.
The Peking Duck was the stand out highlight of the meal. Everything was delicious but that was just so succulent - nothing like any Peking Duck I've had before. I've been spoiled now, I'll only ever be able to go to Hutong for it!
Interesting and great service. Watching food items brought out was part of the experience. Great views and enjoyable. The ribs were the best!
Experience Lunch set menu advertised on website £35 pp but we were (deliberately?) only given the Signature menu £55 pp. Server insisted that the Experience menu was not available on bank holiday but grudgingly brought the other menu out after we politely but very firmly pointed out that the website explicitly says INCLUDING bank hols. Great views for sure. Food a bit hit and miss. Extortionately priced bottled water. Service definitely needs improvement.
An upmarket Chinese restaurant on the 33rd floor of the Shard, providing a brilliant view of London and the Thames during your meal. The restaurant has large windows all around which allow a fantastic view from most of the tables, and adding to the special ambience. We had the Chef’s special menu which had a selection of dishes in 5 courses. The food is well presented, tasty and well paced, but is very pricey for what was provided. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
Fantastic food and great view anywhere in the restaurant.
Very good nice window seat table staff very good food special all in all a very nice lunch
Good food, good service, poor ambience - screams skyscraper restaurant and nothing more. Whilst the food was very good, I could get the same quality at a fraction of the price in Chinatown. Nothing blew me away. Plating of the pan friend chicken dumplings was poor, I imagine the waiter is at fault rather than the chef - who knows. The food was very good but you’re really coming to have lunch at a restraint in the Shard. Always recommend coming to Hutong at least once.
Lovely food and place been several times and will go back again
Nice views .. the menu is very limited for vegetarians. Disappointed to see dishes cooked with Lao Gan Ma which is a premade Chinese chilli oil. With the prices they are charging, you don’t expect that. Having said that, the Peking duck was great. The ibérico pork and lobster xiao long bao were a nice twist to the traditional ones. Most dishes are heavy on salt/msg.
Amazing views from pretty much any table at this restaurant. The food is more authentically north Chinese than most Chinese restaurants in England. Great food. Discrete but friendly service. Good wine list. Expensive but worth it for special occasions.
spectacular view with bits size food portion.
Celebrating a special birthday with the family required a special restaurant and Hutong did not disappoint. Breath-taking views, great service, food and ambiance. Our party of 4 arrived at 6pm and chose the set menu for £88 and the birthday person had the set menu with the wine pairings. The Peking duck and pancakes was the best we have ever tasted! The service was friendly and efficient. However we felt the courses were presented rather quick and we needed more time to digest. And when we asked for coffee we were told that the table may not be available. Coffee was served once the waiter had checked, but it added to the general feel of being rushed. Not a cheap restaurant and perhaps reflected in its fabulous location. Would recommend for a special celebration.
Beautiful location and views. Really nice decor design.
Food was quite good. Disappointed in the service, wasn't very good.
The fresh orange juice was bad. Not good
Food was very good! Waiter was amazing!
We enjoyed the experience
While the food was good, the value was more driven by the view rather than the quality of the food, which can be expected given the spectacular location. For the price you can find much better food elsewhere, but it depends what motivates you more; the food or the location.
This restaurant undoubtedly has a beautiful view. The food was good however I did not find that it justified the price they ask for it.
I will go to the NYC location when we return home.
Family trip to Europe!
It was such an experience!! Very attentive staff. Fantastic food, fantastic environment, fantastic view!!
The food is only ok, certainly not great, and the wait staff seem to not know anything about Chinese food. Many questions about the food were answered incorrectly, by the time the dishes came out and were nothing like what we were told, it was too late. Most irritating were the 29 pound (!) glasses of Ruinart champagne, which were not only tiny, but the glasses themselves were cheaper than IKEA glasses. What a joke of a supposedly high end restaurant. If you want to celebrate a special occasion make sure you take your money somewhere else.
I went for a birthday celebration- lunch. We were well looked after. Our table was perfect, gorgeous view of London overlooking St Paul’s Cathedral. Food was exceptional. Our waiter,Jaros, made suggestions which were all superb. Well worth the price. Will definitely go again for dinner next time.
Excellent service. It was our anniversary and they arranged for a complimentary cake as well. Good was great, must try the chili chicken
Food with views. One of the best places in London to have authentic Chinese food. It is a bit on the pricey side but well worth it. The waygu beef bun and waygu beef puffs were one of the best things I have ever had. Definitely going back there soon!!
Excellent throughout, special thanks to Puspa for a her friendly, efficient and professional attendance
Excellent views, good and drinks. Will def go back soon.
We sat on an outside window so the view was good but it felt like too close to the back wall like we were in a corridor
The food was excellent the staff very helpful I felt the wine was out priced for what it was
It was my girlfriends birthday and the service , food and view was brilliant !
The food was really nice and tasty and even the portions are good comparing to other fancy Chinese restaurants in London. I would definitely recommend the Red lantern, and crispy prawns.
The view is spectacular, plus we had the chance to get a window table.
On the other hand, I was a bit disappointed cause I specified on my booking that it’s gonna be a birthday dinner, so I was expecting them to bring a small cake with a candle or something symbolic, like they always do in all big restaurants, but they didn’t 😌
The food was mediocre. Though the table we were assigned had a phenomenol view, I felt that we were seated in a very cramped space since right behind me was a wooden wall. Therefore I was not able to slide my chair back and would bang into thw table whenever I would get up. The service was very good but the only issue I had was that the server we had was not very fluent in english and therefore I felt that there was a slight communication gap, as she could answer some of my questions. The food was nothing exceptional though the presentation was pretty good.
Have already recommended
Would have preferred view side table but were not given a choice
Felt slightly rushed when orders were taken
Hutong is on the 33rd floor of The Shard. The view is sensational and the ambiance rather unworldly. As a restaurant, the food is well prepared and very well presented, if on the expensive side. A good venue for a special lunch.
I was enchanted to be there the view was really great
The service is good.
