Wonderful experience, celebrating our anniversary in lovely surroundings
Outstanding. Every dish and drink was described informatively and with great enthusiasm, the waitress was lovely and described the experience as a journey and it certainly was. Each dish snared the senses and was expertly paired with lovely wines, a fabulous Czech ice cider and then the amazing Tequila old fashioned. Perfectly cooked sustainable and seasonal food, what’s not to love. Hungarian flatbread was our favourite.
An absolutely incredible experience, the food was outstanding the service was brilliant, the little touches like adding a “happy anniversary” message to our dessert, all this just made it a truly special evening. I love their message about sustainability and how it clearly is taken seriously and influences every part of their work without feeling too gimmicky. I would recommend anyone to go, even if you feel like it isn’t for you, it’s definitely worth a try.
Wonderful food cooked in imaginative ways. Only 1 course(the pre desert) was not great, too much rosemary.
The tasting menu was a real journey, with exquisite attention to detail and attentive, but not overbearing, staff. Food and drinks were all excellent.
Great restaurant doing something different. All courses were expertly created, and for vegan they really were exceptional. Compared to other restaurants at this level who are not operating on a vegan basis, it isn’t as good in my opinion.
Hypha is a dining experience full of delight, surprise and flavour. I went alone and had a gorgeous time enjoying each and every beautifully constructed plate. I went for the soft flight to go with the food and it was the first time I've experienced non-alcoholic drinks being given the same status and consideration as alcoholic (even though I did also have one glass of wine which was lovely). This place is not about a quick, cheap meal... be prepared for the high price (on beautiful poppy seed infused paper) and know that you're going for the experience and savour it.
We are not vegans but enjoy trying new food styles and flavours. All ten courses were delicious and challenged the senses as much was unexpected. Service was excellent, friendly and informative. Because of the acidity/fermentation in the food, white wine is better suited. I had a glass of red and the reaction was not enjoyable!
Fantastic experience at the Sommelier table, will certainly be back
A totally awesome and unique experience - I am not a Vegan but I was blown away by this, so many flavours so cleverly executed !
We really enjoyed our evening at Hypha, the service from the staff is excellent, our waiter gave a great description about each course, the food is unique in taste and use of ingredients, the presentation is fantastic, we thought the food is good value, and we definitely recommend trying this restaurant. The restaurant’s sommelier is very helpful and helped us choose some great wine to go with our dinner. The restaurant does have choices of alcohol and soft drinks to accompany the menu, but for us it’s to much alcohol as we don’t drink very much, I did think the drinks are a bit expensive, that’s why I dropped a star for value. Overall though we really enjoyed the experience.
This is the third time I've been to Hypha and I will certainly be returning again. Food as always, beautiful. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience- which is what it most certainly is!
Dishes were hit and miss. Some were really delicious & some pretty awful. Overall a fun, if a tad pretentious, experience. Hugely expensive but then again not an everyday thing to do. If you’re a vegan & want something exclusive then this is for you. I enjoyed it but my partner didn’t.
Outstanding vegan meal, get the hard ride, the wine is perfectly matched to the food. Amazing service too.
All of us really enjoyed our lunch and not having large appetites found the shorter tasting menu very satisfying. The music was a little loud but reduced by the staff on our request to a perfectly acceptable level. Have to admit finding the Aircon temperature a little low however that is a common problem these days.
Overall a memorable experience and our daughter who was with us from America thoroughly enjoyed it as well and as it was her last day with us before returning home it made it a special event. Thank you to all concerned.
Wow, different but delightful!
I’m a meat eater so went to Hypha not knowing what to expect, it was a wonderful surprise with tasty and different dishes that have given me some great ideas for my vegan daughter!
Been to Hypha several times over the last couple of years, normally the food is outstanding and is a really good celebration of different vegetables.
However on this occasion there wasn't a single dish that myself or the rest of my party enjoyed. It seemed to us all that the chef is trying to hard and had become a bit of a mad scientist and had lost what makes Hypha special.
Unfortunately I won't be dining at Hypha again or recommend the restaurant to others. It's too expensive at £70 a head to go there and be disappointed. Very sad to be writing such a negative review.
What an experience, from our warm welcome to the friendly and passionate staff. Our taste, smell and sight were taken on a delicious rollercoaster and we can not wait to return. We added the Hard Flight and also finished the afternoon in their sister bar Native.
If you're looking for great experience this is for you!
Fantastic experience, I would highly recommend to anyone.
My wife and I had a very pleasant experience at Hypha recently. The food selection was both unlike what we’d experienced from restaurant dinning in the past and really interesting at the same time. The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable and the descriptions of what each dish was and how it blended together was fascinating.
It’s definitely unlike the normal restaurant experience in the UK.
Sublime dining experience. From entering the restaurant the staff were very friendly and attentive and explained the concept of the restaurant and its menu.
We could not fault any of of the ten course tasting menu and the petit fours at the end.
The waiting staff explained every course that came out. All the ingredients were locally resourced and all delicious.
We could not fault Hypha and it's well worth visiting if you are in Chester.
Book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Amazing flavours and service
From the minute we stepped in and the friendly lady who greated us, you just know its going to be an attentive evening.. Im pregnant, so still wear my mask when away from the restaurant table and because of this, the staff whenever serving us all wore their masks.. its these little things I appreciate.. this along with the most incredible food and service made for a wonderful evening of eating food I had never imagined possible to create...
Superb vegan dinning but as a special event not an everyday experience . A little pricey & portion sizes very small , however the flavours & presentation are exceptional .
An amazing experience, from entry through the door, each of the 12 courses and their presentation. The tastes are out of this world, each one that came made it impossible to choose a favourite!
The service was absolutely lovely, cannot fault it at all!
From the minute we stepped in all the staff had big smiles on their faces and were extremely welcoming, the food, the service… everything was absolutely perfect! Would recommend to anyone.
The food is the star of the show. The favours and presentation are excellent - but some of the dishes make it difficult to get the food on to a knife and fork; at one point we asked for a spoon. The atmosphere is lovely however we had a table in the centre of the room and the tables were very close together. I was closer to the man sat on the table next to me than I was to my husband and I could hear every word of their conversation.
Firstly the staff were attentive and friendly from the moment we stepped in the door, we were greeted straight away. They knew the menu inside and out and introduced every dish with enthusiasm as with the wine which was perfectly paired. The restaurant itself is decorated with minimalist styling, very chic and comfortable. We didn’t know the food was vegan/vegetarian and to be honest it would have put us off booking but I’m so glad we went. You wouldn’t know that the dishes were lacking in meat because the flavours where so intense, it’s amazing what you can do with a mushroom! We will definitely be returning. Thank you to everyone at the restaurant who made it a special experience
Best meal I’ve ever had, amazing food and service will be back 100%
Lovely place, the dishes are small and mainly focused around mushrooms so it starts to get repetitive. A lot of the pastry dishes crumble and are difficult to eat. When giving feedback we got eye rolls from the servers. Service is very intense and fast, with most of the info flying past your head.
Nice place to experience but wasn’t that impressed for the price.
An exceptional meal. The full seasonal tasting menu offers a wide range of unique flavours all in keeping with the restaurant’s sustainability ethos. Everything was perfectly prepared and really well presented. The accompanying wine flight (again chosen with sustainability a priority) complemented the food at each stage with a surprising tequila hit at the end. We went for lunch. The restaurant was very quiet which we understand is unusual. Lovely setting on The Walls. Great ambience, well chosen playlist in the background and knowledgeable, friendly staff. Needs to be a special occasion perhaps as it is not a cheap meal but the expense is well justified.
Incredible! Start to finish!
Absolutely delicious food, presented beautifully. All the staff are clearly so passionate about what they do and loving create such unique inspiring dishes. Not cheap but worth it.
Incredible meal - as someone who is not a vegetarian, I was blown away by the flavours! Highly recommend.
Came here to celebrate getting married didn’t realise it was a vegetarian menu but that was fine we really enjoyed it staff were really good. We had the wine pairing with it think it went over my head abit all tasted same to me but we really enjoyed the night so thank you
We had a lovely time. It was a new experience which is what life’s all about. The staff were knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and attentive. The food was certainly different but delicious. The time flew by. I would recommend this restaurant. The cost I thought was a little too expensive. I would be happy to pay £50 per head but thought £60 was a little to much. The next time in Chester we would still definitely consider booking again. Thanks for a lovely evening all
Hypha was fantastic, really exciting dishes and knowledgeable servers.
Just about the most perfect meal I've ever had. Actually, to call it a meal is not to do it justice; it was an experience. Stunning food, amazing presentation, wonderfully introduced by the staff with such passion and matched with the perfect drinks.
The ambience was just right for what we wanted.
Very expensive, but well worth it.
