Coming down from M Street, il Canale is the 2nd restaurant on the left.
Wonderful authentic Naples pizza.
You really need to make a reservation or you may have to wait awhile, I had one and got right in but that was not the case for a lot of people, everything was great, I will definitely be going back next time I’m in Georgetown.
Eggplant Parm....we had been once before and LOVED it... They ran out which set a bad tone for dinner. We told server that the reason for us coming, she went to see if there was one more order left. No luck.
Wish they would have been more apologetic...not a whole lot of empathy for us. Totally understand running out of something- just wish they would have cared more.
Didn’t feel our reservation was honored..dinner felt rushed, food fare
Our waiter was adorable but we all felt the food was overpriced and not great. It was also really loud! The pizza was good but not the best ever and the gnocchi was not good at all!
Buffalo mozzarella was soooo good as was the gnocchi bolognese - would definitely eat here again
Best restaurant in the universe!
We were supposed to dine here but they overbooked so we never got in. They did not honor our reservation and we left.
Il Canale is our favorite place to eat in Georgetown when visiting our son. The food is authentic and the wait staff is exceptional. We really love the waiter we have had several times, Bruno! It’s a must when in Georgetown!!
Even with a reservation at 7:00pm, we waited outside for 45 minutes before being seated. Once seated however. The food came quickly and the service was great.
Best pizza outside Italy! Always a fantastic meal. We never miss a visit to Il Canale when we visit DC.
Amazing place to bring friends or a date.
Great place to finish a minor and dinner date!!
Great food and service! Visit you must!
The pizza was soggy, the spaghetti bolognese was plain and the tomato sauce was very acidic and the lasagna was very cheesy but nothing special. The calamari was average. Great neighborhood but would try and find a different restaurant.
Amazing dining experience - service, food, value - all exceptional! Busy place! 700 reservations on a Saturday night. Very noisy/loud but it fit the high energy ambiance. Highly recommended.
Food was fabulous - just loud inside
Good food and excellent service.
Great service. Pizza was good but not great. Center was soggy and topping were not spread across the pizza well. Salad was not as good as described. Calamari & zucchini were wonderful.
Il Canale is our favorite go-to date night dinner before a movie. Love the food and friendly staff!
Bruno was an extraordinarily great host and the best service ever from Tommy. Food exceeded expectations!
One of our best meals in DC. Our party (4) enjoyed everything. We will visit there again on our next trip. We had Lobster Ravioli, Lasagna, Gnocchi, Caesar and house salad. They have very good authentic sauces.
This place was busy and packed! Would definitely recommend reservations. Food was excellent. My only complaint was that we went especially for their gluten free pizza crust and they had run out by the time we ordered (around 8pm). Great spot for Italian in the Georgetown area!
Most authentic Italian Neapolitan pizza in the DC area. Great supplì/arancini and finish it off with a real espresso 🙂. Buonissimo!
Food was great! Serviced was very good.Ambiance is only okay for a special occasion but great for a pizza place
Had a really nice dinner. Food tasted really good and had a great night. Highly recommend going here!
This is a great restaurant for Italian food. My meal was outstanding and my wife said hers was excellent also. Our waitress was very patient and explained the menu choices, as well as, the wine choices.
It was just quiet enough to have a pleasant conversation but not library-quiet.
We had a seat next to the windows and enjoyed the people watching.
Great food, and Angelica the waitress was excellent.
Food was subpar. I could have made a better house salad at my own home, gnocchi was over cooked, and pizza crust was soggy.
They were so good about us being our dog on date night. Got us a table and a bowl of water right away. Also the food and wine were fantastic.
A little intimidating at arrival with so many people crowed around waiting for tables, with a line for check-in but once our whole party arrived we were seated quickly and the food was amazing!
This is the best Italian restaurant I've ever eaten at!! My husband and I were visiting from Colorado. I had the lasagna. It was served in an individual bowl with a chewy top layer and gooey deliciousness underneath. My husband had spaghetti which he loved. We had the bruschetta for an appetizer. The bread was amazing and the fresh tomato and buffalo mozzarella cheese was divine! The bread that they brought before we ordered was served with olive oil infused with roasted garlic cloves! Amazing! We wish we lived in Georgetown so we could go often! This is 8 out of 5 stars!!!
We sat outside and the constant flow of people walking by was very annoying. The food was great and fairly priced. Definitely will return but we will not be sitting outside.
This was our second visit to Il Canale and we can’t wait to go back! The atmosphere, the service, the food, the location, and the friendliness of the staff all combine to make this restaurant the perfect place for a date or a special occasion. BUT the value for the money means it’s also perfect for everyday dining.
Great guys at the front. Great service
Great food served with attentive service; seated at a wonderful table...the pizza is some of the best I ever had...it’s truly as if you went to Italy. All my trips to DC will include going to Il Canale
Great date night location, with incredible food!
